You report that ‘A ship believed to be carrying as many as 500 Tamil refugees is being escorted by the Canadian navy into British Columbia…”

With our Government’s whimpish response to the earlier ship ‘Ocean Lady’s’ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 76 illegal TamilƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ migrants among which according to the Canadian Border Agency Report were 25 hardcore Tamil Tiger terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ None of the 76 Tamils on that ship have been deported so far nor a single member of the crew of the ship have been arrested and charged by the Canadian authorities.

It is pertinent to note that since Australia suspended processing Tamil refugee applicants under pressure from the Sri Lankan government, no boats have headed towards Australia and instead have beenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ sailing towards the Canadian shores, by-passing India’s Tamil Nadu where 65 million of their Tamil brethrenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ live.

Unless Canada takes a firm decision on these illegal Tamil migrantsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ dotted with hardcore Tamil Tigers, there will be a string of other ships carrying TamilsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ heading towards Canada, as this is part of a global criminal network and a million dollar business.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And as reported in Asian Tribune (August 11) the key accomplice in this global scam was arrested by the police in Kerala, India.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ According to the news report, Sundara Raja Sivakumar, a Tamil with links to the Tamil Tigers was operating a travel business based in Chennai, the capital of the Indian state Tamil Nadu in South India.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This human trafficking operations have been accomplishedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with funds supplied by the pro-Tamil Tiger Diaspora living in Canada and other Western countries.

The timeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has comeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for the Canadian government to tell these Sri Lankan Tamils that the party is over and if they wish to come to Canada that they too should fill in the appropriate application forms and hand them to the Canadian High Commission in Colombo and take their place in the queue and wait patiently until their applications are processed without abusing the Canadian immigration system.

And it is time that the Conservatives spare us tax payersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by not asking us to fork outƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ our tax dollarsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to sustainƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ these Tamils when they land on our shores with this scam.

Asoka, I do not think we should worry about terrorists going to Canada, because a terrorist in Sri Lanka as good as a terrorist in Canada. If they come back to Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka will have to look after them and you know the Sri Lankan government is screaming out for much needed funds for much sought after projects that would help uplift the lives of many trying and very hard working poor Sri Lankans. We must help all the Tamils and their beloved Tigers to go anywhere they want. But we must be vigilant back in Sri Lanka not to allow any Tamil groups to form with the intention of launching decades of terror attacks to not allow Sri Lanka to develop and prosper as a nation of all ethnic groups. We must strengthen our security forces and intelligence and always keep a close watch of any arms smugglers sending arms across the Indian Ocean. We must not be complacent of our own Tamil politicians who might still have a mono-ethnic mind set.
