    Dissa Ayya,

Do not insult Buddhism by claiming Mahinda as an arahant.
He is an excellent politician and a good leader. Not a wise man.

  2. Nihal Fernando Says:

    Nanda,

You are sadly mistaken. The stanza preached by Buddha is not only for Arahant. How can you say that the President is not a wise man? How can anybody becomes an excellent politician and a good leader without being wise and far-sighted?

  3. Fran Diaz Says:

President Mahinda Rajapakse is the best President Lanka can have at this present time. He has proven this by wise action through tremendously difficult times. Yes, he is a wise man. He is a statesman with great wisdom. May he live long &
prosper ! May Lanka prosper too, in a wise way.

An Arahat is a non-returner to life, never to be reborn. An Arahat has united totally with Truth or Godhead within. An Arahat is not a Buddha. A Buddha is a Great Teacher who can guide a human being to the Arahat path. A Buddha transmits an EXPERIENCE so blissful to a human being that a person is drawn to follow the Buddha. There have been many Buddhas throughout the ages, and Lankans follow the Teachings of Gauthama Buddha.

President Mahinda Rajapakse is the best President Lanka ever had. But in occasionally some extravagant spending now & then comes up. It could be the so call “advisers” ideas. The largest “kiribath” party made by 350 Chefs seem to be one such wrong advice. That rice & other ingredients would have sufficient for several poor families.

  5. Nanda Says:

What is happening today is rubbish compared to Dammapada taken from Buddha’s stanzas. A king too can be wise but not Rajapaksa.
Sure he is a great head of state if not the greatest. But he made so many mistakes and properly handled most important things. he is a normal man dirnking , partying etc, etc , nothing worng in that.
Just do not call him wise as per Dhammapada -which is an insult.
Lorenzo, arahant is not a buddha but buddha is an arahant , the fully enlightened one , if you do not know.

Jagath Bandara ( alias Nanda, Nandana Jagath Bandara): You should stop damaging Sri Lanka’s image in Sydney. You guys left Sri Lanka after creating troubles, may be to avoid arrest, went to Malaysia and Indonesia detention camps, then Villawood. You good man, good cleaning workers, now trade unionist in Sydney. With Tamil diasporah Subramanian, Balachandran etc. you don’t show-off as some one came to Australia on a Student Visa. Maharagama knows about you.

  7. Nanda Says:

    Maharagama Ayya,
I did not do anything to damage Sri lanka’s image. What I said was Mahinda is not the wiseman to follow like an Arahant. I am not Jagath Bandara – never heard that name. I do have Tamil friends but they are not the names you have given, my friends are good – they do not support LTTE.
I support Mahinda fully but I do not praise him unncessarily like an idiot. I like Sanath Jayasuriy but do not like him playing and killing young talent. I have no problem him playing in IPL ( if he is selected – that is doubtful).
Sorry to annoy you, I apologise.

  8. Nihal Fernando Says:

    Nanda,

I think that you have some problem with you. A wise man/woman could be a layman/laywoman or a clergy. You say that you like Sanath jayasuriya but do not like him playing——-then, what do you like of him? His bold head? You contradict your own statement.

  9. Nanda Says:

    Nihal,
Yes my problem is I assume most people are wise enough to understand things.
I like Sanath for what he has done to Sri lanka as a great cricketer. But I do not want him to be grredy and hang on to his place using political power thereby depriving young talent of achance to play early.
A wise man ( in the context of Buddhism) will never drink and party. You should read more on Buddhism. As long as you do not bring Buddhsm to quote, Mahinda can be considered as a wise man in worldly sense. I don’t know whay Dissa Ayya angry with me for saying this.
