Mr.John Alexander, MP
Member for Bennelong,
Parliament of Australia
Canberra,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Dear Sir,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Having migrated to Australia from a sporting country, Sri Lanka, I and the Tennis loving Sri Lankans have enjoyed your commetaries at Tennis with keen interest.

Your absence this time in the commentary box must have been due to hard work in your new venture ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-PoliticsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ getting to know facts about the problems in the political arena.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you Sir, having served an ACE in an entirely a different court, in your address to the Deputy Speaker on the Main Committee Motion on Sri Lanka, on Feb. 28. Your quote ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-turmoil and conflict in Sri Lanka must not be given oxygen and the country deserved international assistanceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ unquote is a beauty!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Since the conclusion of the conflict in May 2009, Sri Lanka has been the talking point in various head line catching forums in the Globe, depicting her accelerated successes in the field of Tourism, Economy, Health, Education, HospitalityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ etc. One has to admire these achievements amidst three decades of incessant destruction.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ While the World at large is acknowledging her successes, Mahinda Rajapaksa administration is progressively restoring the devastated infrastructure and the economy of the North and East giving a new lease of life to masses in these areas.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The people can now live in Peace without looking over the shoulder for being attacked or their children being abducted to become force recruits in LTTE. One has only to visit these areas with open minds to find these peoples new found freedom and happiness, it wonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t be long before a home grown solution for whatever differences that is alleged to have, will be settled to the satisfaction of all in the country.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Unfortunately the Tamil Diaspora abroad has not helped those Tamils whom they claim to be victimized by the Sri Lankan Government. Their actions in the past brought only misery, tribulation and distress to all Sri Lankans. These people need financial help to build their lives back to normal, instead the Diaspora spend the funds to maintain a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Transnational Government of Tamil EelamƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (TGTE), that has not stopped hostilities, and they continue propagating falsehood and denigrate Sri Lanka in the West. As you rightfully said, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-must not be given oxygen and the country deserved international assistanceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Gillard Government and the rest of the Parliament must take note.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In conclusion, I copiously thank you for taking the stand on behalf of Sri Lanka in your address to the Deputy Speaker on the Main Committee Motion for no apparent benefit to you, but merely as a constructive solution to avoid a possible prolonging of hostilities to a democratically elected government.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Those who have the powers to decide on the future of neighbouring countries should take note, not to get emotionally distracted on false propaganda. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I believe yours and Mr.Tony RandallƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s counsel and observation would encourage the rest of the members of the Federal Parliament to change their warped thinking and open their eyes.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Yours Sincerely,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Vajiragnana Warnakulasuriya
Melbourne, Australia

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
