There is absolutely no excuse for what happenedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in Mirpur, Bangladesh where the bus carrying the West Indies players has been stoned on its way back to the team hotel after they thrashed Bangladesh by nine wickets in Mirpur todayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  4th March 2011.

The organizers of this tournamentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  should seriously consider removing Bangladesh as a venue for any further games as the world remembers what happened in Lahore where the Sri LankansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  were targetted by terrorists and regardless of the excuses the Bangladeshi authorities might come up with,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  this too needs to be viewed as a terrorist attackƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of sorts and the sentiments of Chris Gayle and the rest of the players need to be heeded and Bangladesh shunned as a world cup venue henceforth!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Luckilly thereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have been ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ no injuries the teams management hasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ confirmedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and both squads were safely back at the hotel but the players were shaken so what kind of security has been installed to prevent exactly what many predicted as a distinct possibility towards disrupting the tournament and a burningƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ question needing to be asked!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As news of the incident spread across the world within momentsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it questions the security provided to teams at the tournament which were at least on paper guaranteed as rock solid but seems to have come apart at the seams in Bangladesh and the ICC needs to do some soul searching about any more games being conducted in this country which seems to be as equallyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ dangerous as Pakistan which was denied any venues and very correctly so after the Lahore attack by armed insurgents on theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  bus carrying the Sri Lanka players where had it not been for a very alert and dedicated bus driver the Sri Lankan team may have been subjected to a carnage in spite of which some players were hospitalised with serious injuries which they recovered form thankfully..

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ TheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  current incidentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has been confirmed by the West Indies’ Media manager Philip SpoonerƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and that it happenedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ way back to the hotel. Both teams are back at the hotel and are safe.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This thenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ was a reaction from disgruntled BangladeshiƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ fans after the West Indies completed a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over the hosts in a match that lasted all of 31.1 overs. The discontent among the crowd could be seen when they started throwing the placards that have “4” and “6” written on them onto the playing field the moment Bangladesh lost their last wicket to be bowled out for their lowest-ever ODI total – 58. This probably was the time security staff should have paid more attention and ensured the safety of the players returning to their hotels but was not the case and the Bangladeshi authorities needƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to be held accointable for what seems a huge security breach which must bever be repeated!
