The Morning After The Night Before – End of the Honeymoon!
Posted on June 6th, 2011

Prof. Hudson McLean

The war was won, the country was saved!

After thirty or so bloody years, despite obstacles laid by EU, USA, Norway, India, the credit goes to the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, as the Commander-in-Chief, and Gothabhaya Rajapaksa, as the Secretaty of Defence and all the valiant, patriotic souls who sacrificed their body & soul.

Although the leaders of EU, USA, Norway, India, and to some extent United Nations leadership did resist from acknowleging the benefits of eradicating the world’s most despicable terrorist organization, Tamil Tiger LTTE, its self-defeating for Namal Rajapaksa, MP, son of the President, to appeal to the world via FaceBook to nominate the President, his father, as the TIME Man-of-the-Year.

Neither is to get a Tamil literatiƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Dr.Levins T C Rajaratnam to sing the praises of the Rajapaksa Clan in many of his poetic renderings, which look rather subservient patronising of the President, for some obvious questionable personal gain.

In both cases, the Credibility is down to Zero!

President Mahinda Rajapaksa can and will stand on his own steam, his calibre of leadership needs no praise from people who are his kith & kin, or hangers-on!

Right now, the President must get on his next essential objectives of providing employment to the masses, increase the standards of living, and feed the hungry stomachs of his electorate.

The folly of the Governor of Central Bank to dissipate the Reserves on Fun & Games should be examined closer to see the Return-on-Investment of a billion dollar investment or down-the-drain, which might be better used to house the homeless and educate the poor.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Are there any parasites, leaches or hangers-on waiting for a quick buck or a few million?

That said, is there any accountability to what happened to the
Sarath Fonseka and the Millions of US$ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s, and what was left of it?.

Today, no leader is safe on his high saddle, like it goes to show even European leaders, now Egyptian President, possibly Libya, Syria and others being manacled and marched to the ICC in the Hague, largely orchestrated by their own electorate.

Pakistan has its own tale to tell. And so have many leaders in Asia who crumbled under People Power!

What happened to (fired) ex-General Sarath Fonseka could happened to others too.

Soon, the “Winning of the War” will be “Old Hat”, history, Yes, but will not feed the hungry!

The “War” has only begun! The C-in-C has his work cut-out.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  After the honeymoon, there will be “buns-in-the-oven” so to speak, demanding real work!

Can the President win the next war, after the Honeymoon?

You are damn correct Professor. No honeymoon everyday and war story will beforgotten in time to come and the masses will think and asked about food and jobs etc. therefore The president and his Government should do their best to provide necessity requirements for the population to live a decent life. The Government should be transparent in every deal they make and should be answerable to the public. People should know the truth about everything and still we are wating to hear more about L.T.T.E dealings and what the Government found regarding their vast wealth and about their associates. Also about SF’s dealings and his money found in the bank vaults.

Power and money destroy individuals and Governments. It’s evidence when you look at the world around us. Everyday no honymoon so our politicians must be careful and watch their backs because the people’s power is more powerful than anything. I hope our President should not be blind by power and money and fall in to that catogery. He is the only man we can trust and he is doing a good job and I pray our country will see a new era in years to come under his leadership.

We are referring to the lines : “That said, is there any accountability to what happened to the
‘Sarath Fonseka and the Millions of US$’s, and what was left of it?.
By Nalin De Silva (LankaWeb – 6th June 2011)’. ”

We are writing to ask the readers of these columns whether they think that Nalin de Silva who has re Sarath Fonseka is PROFESSOR NALIN DE SILVA ? We have compared Prof. Nalin de Silva’s written articles with the article on Sarath Fonseka and find that the two styles of writing are quite different. So we are assuming that the Sarath Fonseka article was written by another person and not Professor Nalin de Silva.

Can someone clarify this matter to us ?

We agree with commenter Ranjit who says : “He is the only man we can trust and he is doing a good job and I pray our country will see a new era in years to come under his leadership”.

The President is doing a good job and his son should refrain from seeking cheap popularity for himself or the President. The only trap the President must veer away is from the trap of unbridled power and the flattery thrust on him by incompetent stooges. As the saying goes, Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Lets continue to support President Rajapakse to have the courage and energy to deflect enemy activities and continue with his development work and social reforms to usher in a just society. Lets also hope the JVP would cease their favorite passtime of disrupting the economic progress of the country through industrial strikes etc

  4. Nalin DeSilva Says:

I just want to confirm that I am NOT Prof Nalin DeSilva, any assumptions that I am the Prof Nalin DeSilva is misleading!. I am just a ordinary Sri Lankan.

Dear Prof. Hudson Mclean – I totally agree with you and the time is ripe to protect this President from his own “friends” from within than from the “enemies” from outside. During the two years after eradicating the social menace the country has undergone for three decades, we are seeing on a daily basis how these “friends” within close proximity to HE are very surreptitiously sucking the blood out of this charismatic man. Look at the large number of advisors around him and what they were doing when the “Private Sector Pension” scheme was introduced. The opposing camp was successful in selling the idea of “robbing the money from earnings of employees” than the beneficial part it plays in the retirement of its members. The Government, a very pet subject of the President himself had to be withdrawn prematurely culminating in one death of a poor emplyee. After this episode, everyone in responsible positions including the Ministers started saying that proper publicity and education was not provided as regards the “Scheme” and that the Govt. was at fault. This is a very simple example of the role played by these “JOKERS” within. Did they have to wait to admit the “faults” until someone sacrificed the life?.
Who suffered the humiliation at the end?.

Sri Lanka Braodcastng Corporation cannot do without spelling out what Prsident had said in the very first item of its daily News Bulletin. They think it is a great way to publicize the image of the President, but little realize the damage done on a daily basis. This was what they did to Mr. Ranasinghe Premadasa. Those days his speeches were the head lines until there came a time when people switched off the radio during the news telecast. The very people have taken the centre stage and will slowly and steadily make this man’s name hated across the country.

Look at the giant cutout of him that was erected at the entrance to the Katunayake International Airport. Was this a necessity? This was someone’s pet subject directed towards personal gain. To begin with HE himself should have given orders to dismantle it long before the protestors at FTZ brought it down. Who was humiliated in this instance too.?

It is very timely that this flattery should be stopped immediately before it gets out of hand. HE Rajapakse has the stamina and character to put a “period” (full stop) to these type of nonsense and correctly identyfy the “friends” in sheeps clothes. I would strongly advise HE to have a chat with an ordinary citizen of the country privately(not in the company of advisors and body-guards) every now then and know what is actually happening in the coutry. That way he will know what is going on in his background and back yard perhaps. This is a far better way than driving in the city by himself to find out how his own ministers are being escorted in violation of the traffic rules. That ordinary citizen will definitely tell all that plus and plus of what you should know and act upon.

Mr. President, please take cognizance of these developments orchestrated by your own “hang arounds” most probably working for national and international conspirators handsomely remunerated with dollars and other perquisites.
