ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ PerhapsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the time is appropriate for all conscientiousƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lankans, not only the expatriate Sri LankansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ residing in Switzerland, France, Italy, UK and other European countries but also those around the entire worldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to demand from the UN headquarters that it pressurises the UNSG Ban ki-Moon to discard the controversial ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Darusman reportƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ which dealt with accountability issues in Sri Lanka on the basis that it is a mere ploy by disgruntled EelamistsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  around the world which includes Tamil diaspora and their sycophants within the UN organization itself who continue to demand such! It is a travesty of justice that such a demand has been made against a Sovereign Democratic Nation like Sri Lanka which set a precedent in how to eliminate dangerous global terrorism whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ make the demands in the ‘Darushman report’ somewhat of a huge joke and should never be pursued or entertained for the simple reason thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  none of it seems verifiable orƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ subtantiable to a fault!

While there have beenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ demonstrations in Switzerland where over 2,000 Sri Lankans reportedly participatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  with people joining in from Germany, Norway and Sweden where five buses and several vans from Paris and 17 buses from Italy haveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ transported some ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the people, interestinglyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  thereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ haveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ been in addition to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sinhalese, manyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Tamil and Muslim participants which speaks a lot for how worthless and insignificant the UNSG instigated reports may prove to be as the presence of Muslims and Tamils is surely indicative of there being no Prima Facie case against Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ where today many Tamils are rallying round Prsident Rajapaksha in gratitude for having freed them from the megalomaniacƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and deposed LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran who almost destroyed his own Tamil Race in pursuance of his criminal ambitions.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
In essenceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ also enhancesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the realityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of how divided, opinons about this entire issue is proving to be and arguably a strong case againstƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ UNSG Ban Ki Moon is building up ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ towards being held accountable for orchestrating his own delusionaryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ concept of what he envisioned with a little help from hisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  TamilƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ allies within the UN whose transparencies towards being pro Eelamist sympathisers stick out like a sore thummb. The Ban Ki Moon delusionsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ seems alsoƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to have been gobbled upƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ hook line and sinker byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ some ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka’s global adversaries ever ready to buld a case against Sri Lanka whether based on fact and tangible evidence or not for reasons best known to themselves albeit becomingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  somewhat obvious as the issue gets dragged on !!.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The protest presented in Geneva emphasized the theme that theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the peace-loving people of Sri Lankan origin wish to bring the following facts before the UN. pointing out that Sri Lanka is a member of the United Nations for the past six decades and it has proudly demonstrated its unstinted belief in the cherished principles of the UN whereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ fair treatment from all the UN bodies as well as its Chief Executive Officer, the Secretary General on issues pertaining to Sri Lanka seemed a foremost priority without compromise albeit not the case with respect to the UNSG who seems to be moonshining on the issue and two faced about his concerns.

It also emphasized as quoteed “ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that the appointment of a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”Panel of Experts on Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ to advice the UNSG and the releasing ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the so-called report of the panel is totally beyond the mandate of the UNƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Secretary GeneralƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is well known that the said report was borne outside of an intergovernmental process which also has no official status in the UN system. Furthermore it is an unwarranted and unnecessary interference in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka which is a Sovereign State. We wish to point out that neither the UN General Assembly nor the UN Security Council has authorized the appointment of an expert panel or the release of its report underlining the primary importance of the objectives of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ UN Charter which clearly states that the Secretary General shall perform his functions as entrusted by the UNSC, UNGA or other UN body such as the Human Rights Council. None of the above mentioned UN bodies directed pursuance of such a course of action where to the contrary, the UN Human Rights Council has passed a resolution with 29 votes in favour and 12 against not to interfere in the Sri Lankan issue.” where to all ontents and purposes the case should be closed rather than dragging on !!

In retrospect it needs to be asked relative to the resolution which was approved by the UNHRCƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ why The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Naveen Pillai has thought fit to refer to this Ban Ki Moon instigatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ panel report in her report to the 17th Session of the HRC? It is described asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a document which was compiled by a panel to advise the SG, that too at his own request, and well exceeding its mandate, thereby bringing into question her objectivity. Further the High Commissioner unbecomingly deems it appropriate to call for action on the recommendations of the said report which are based on unverified information and also un-sourced, and would remain so for the next 20 years. In fact the Report itself states that the facts are unsubstantiated. The icing on the cake with respect to all these is the latest report that two of Tamil Nadu’s most contentious voices, those of Vaiko and Jayalalitha often tripping over their coat tails in contradiction ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have chirped in their approval of the UNSG’s panel report demanding sanctions against the Sri Lankan Government which is not only laughable but an insult to that part of India these individuals conduct their politics in, suggesting how ignorant, apathetic ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as well as insidious their rhetoric can be where if this is Tamil Nadu leadership the State must be in a shamblesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as its priorities seem to be directed to regions way beyond their mandate or controlƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ through the actions and rhetoric of its new leadership which belongs in a circus rather than in the State Assembly!!
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The demands by the protestors in GenevaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have been hinged to what they proclaimed as an exposure of “the most brutal and ruthless terrorism that plagued Sri Lanka for 30 years and totally defeated by the Present Regime and its Armed Forces within all the legalities governing a Sovereign Nation to defend against terrorists” where as cited “For the last two year there were no disastrous suicide bombings; People of all ethnicities now move freely, fearlesslyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and peacefully in any part ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka. ForeignƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Tourist are coming in their thousands to enjoyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Nation’sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ rich cultural heritage andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ beautiful beaches in abandon with no fear of terrorists” and cause enough for the UNSG’s panel enquiry to be trashed and the man himself investigated for accountability of overstepping his metes and bounds (rather than affording him a second term it might also be added) together with those who comprised this panelƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ whose only objective seems to be that of discrediting the Government of Sri Lanka to serve their own pro Eelamist agenda despite their veiled bleatingsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  sotto voce toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ include the LTTE as part of those responsibe which is a duplicitous offer and unacceptable from a GOSL standpoint unprepared to be measured by the same yardstick with valid reason!!

The protestors in Geneva were also quote as saying that “People enjoy their democratic rights to elect their representatives in free and fair elections. At a time when the process of reconciliation is making a steady progress, we do not wish to see the peace in Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  disturbed due to any reason. The Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission, an internal mechanism has been established to investigate into allegations. It is incorrect to prejudge the ability of the domestic mechanism even before it has concluded its investigations. Therefore, we appeal to all Permanent Representatives to the UN to intervene on behalf of Sri Lanka to safeguard her Sovereignty and to carry forward its endeavour to ensure ethnic reconciliation and peaceful progress in the conducive atmosphere which has dawned after the defeat of 30 years of terrorism.”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  which should be more of a demand rather than an appealƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ based on all the legalities surrounding Sri Lanka’s credibilities and rights as a Sovereign Democratic Nation which disentitle all the calls for a human rights investigation over violations which have been visibly cooked up and never transpired as falselyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ portrayedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ despite all the cinematography and cheap sensationalism which often tends to attract all the wrong attention for all the wrong reasons !
