Sacrosanct 13th Amendment , and why it should not remain embedded- a painful thorn, in the « body » of our Constitution.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sacrosanct to India anƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  absolute shame to Sri Lanka, the 13th Amendment was introducedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  into our constitution by twisting the arm of a weakened President , abandoned by AmericaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  heƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  held in high esteem all his political life, which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ even earned him the nickname Yankee Dicky.

The 13th Amendment introduced 24 years ago under shameful circumstances ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has no right to beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  left in the Constitution of Sri Lanka, and should be eliminated as we eliminated terrorism, its predecessor.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  forced to beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  introduced by a schemingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  unfriendly Indian GovernmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  on theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  pressure brought upon it byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  film stars of cheap popular Tamil mythological films turned politicians of Tamilnadu, who were sentimentalists rather than political visionaries.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The circumstances have not changed today .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ India, which wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  through out a ruthless terrorism in Sri Lanka,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  was a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚«ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  reluctantƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚»ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  neighbour ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ scheming and plottingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  indirectly helpingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the terrorists to weaken and break up Sri Lanka , is today acting under pressureƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  from a Tamil film stars of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ old popular Tamil mythological films Jayalalitha Jeyaram the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jayalalitha ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jeyaram the present Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, who playedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Valli Amma the consort of Muruga in South Indian film sagas, still thinks that Ravana is hiding Sitha some where in Sri Lanka and wants to play the role of Rama ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ trying to wakeup the slumberingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Kumbhakarna to take revenge fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the President of Sri Lanka who sheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  mistakenly takes for Ravana.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Before her it was ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ an old Tamil politicians in his dotage shedding tearsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  vanishing terrorism,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  spending time writing poetry in memory of a dead terrorist Tamilselvam, who was coaxingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Central Government of India to intervene to save terrorists in Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ However, besides awakening to the call of Tamilnadu politicians, (who neglect their own people , andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  refuse to find a solution to the caste issueƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  showing more concernƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  aboutƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Tamils in Sri Lanka) Indian Central Government ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ does not want to miss an opportunity toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  remindƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka about implementing theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  13 Amendment ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which is, what is left of the FrankensteinƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  its former Prime Minister LateƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Indira Gandhi created in Prabhakaran,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and for which India made the blood sacrifice ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  one of itsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  potential leadersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Rajiv Ghandhi to keepƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  it alive.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This tragi-comedy will ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ not see its endƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as long asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  this piece ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  evil enactment the 13th Amendment introduced to the constitution in a hurry would continue to remain encrusted into our Constitution.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The 13th Amendment just does not fit into our Constitution as it isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  conspicuously ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ foreign to us, and remains a black scar in a white background.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In order to understand, why the 13th Amendment does not fit into our system , and why sooner it is removed better it would be to Sri Lanka we have to see theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  history and the background to its forced introduction into the instrument of our system of government.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The 13th Amendment is not at allƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a national contribution for the progress and the development of our country as a independentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  nation state.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It was notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  drafted andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  written weighing the advantages and disadvantages of it to the different communities, making it a documentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that would help to move ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a country progressively into a brighter and a prosperous future as it would have been in the ordinary course of writing a constitution to a Sovereign State.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ How did it come into being a controversial amendment to our ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Constitution ? ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ While I am writing this a top levelƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Indian Delegation is said to be scheduled to visit Sri Lanka to discuss various matters with regard toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the reconciliation process and perhapsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the implementation of the 13th Amendment.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ All this is the surprising evolution of Indian relationship with Sri Lanka, despite allƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  mischief it had committed against it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is a known fact that the terrorists movement in Sri Lanka was the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-child orƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  more correctly the FrankensteinƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ created andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  nurtured by India under Indira Gandhi, which wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  even trained in special camps set up in Tamilnadu by the RAW.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The terrorist group thus created was supported by the Indian Government, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and Indira Gandhi issued a warning to the then President J.R.Jayawardhana, that she will not rule out armed intervention ifƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  diplomaticƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  attempts to settle any matter arising out of the Tamil separatist movement were to fail .

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ However, as the terrorist group in Sri Lanka became considerably strong , becoming aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  threat toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢sƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  unitary state, the Government of Sri Lanka strengthened its own forces with the help of Pakistan, Israel, Singapore and South Africa. In 1986, the terrorists were carrying outƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  bloody terror campaigns, and the Government of Sri Lanka stepped up its own campaign against the terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In 1987, Sri Lanka Armed Forces launched the Operation Liberation inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Jaffna which theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  LTTE terrorists was holding under its control and laid siege on the terrorists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The terroristsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  were ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ loosing their battleƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and the Government forces were in control of the situation. India forced by the Tamil Media and the Tamilnadu, demanded the Government of Sri Lanka to stop the offensive and come to a political settlement.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But the Government of Sri Lanka which wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  then in a stronger position ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with the military advisors from Pakistan and Israel ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ helping the Sri Lanka Armed Forces, refused to give in.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But India too wanted to show its force, and in order to save its face vis-ƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚ -vis Tamilnadu State, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ announced in June, 1987, that it was sending an unarmed convoy ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Ships to Northern Sri Lanka forƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  humanitarian assistance. The Sri Lanka Government Navy intercepted the Indian convoy of ships and turned them back.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It was then that India on the 4th June, 1987 mounted its ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-operation Poolmalai in broad day lightƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  brazenly trespassed into Sri Lanka airspace and droppedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  25 tons of supply to the besieged terrorists.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-At the same time the Sri Lankan Ambassador to New Delhi was summoned to the Foreign Office to be informed by the Minister of External Affairs, K. Natwar Singh, of the ongoing operation. It was also indicated to the Ambassador that if the operation was in any way hindered by Sri Lanka, India would launch a full-force military retaliation against Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ (please see Wikipedia for more details)

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That culminated in the signing of the Indo-Sri Lanka accord and introduction of the 13th Amendment.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Sri Lanka Government troops withdrew from the North and the East in terms of the Accord. The Indian Government sent the Indian Peace Keeping Force and Forced the Government to prepare the 13th Amendment to the constitution, to provideƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  regional Councils to the Tamil people of the North, making North and East a single Province.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is said that the President J.R.Jayawardhana, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ did not want to be interfered further by the Indian Government and with his close associates, assisted by the consultants sent by the Government of India ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ prepared the 13th Amendment in a hurry between October-November,1987.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  No time was provided for discussion, debate or making corrections.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was at this time there was a grenade attack in parliament by the JVP injuring the Minister Mr.Athulathmudali.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  All the UNP parliamentariansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  were ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ kept in a hotelƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and was escorted to the parliament, and the 13th AmendmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  was passed within days.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Now 24 years after, the situation has changed .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The terrorism has been eliminated at least from Sri Lanka, though there are still the phantoms of terrorism haunting ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in the west in the form of a Tamil diaspora.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The North and East is being developed and soon have more modern facilities than the South. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ India is now showing its presence in different garbs though it has not changed much, in its relationship with Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is therefore time to assert that Sri Lanka is not any more ready to be allowed toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have the hands of India washed over its head.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  India has its circle of friendly Nations and we in Sri Lanka weƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have ours, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and it is time we tell India where it stands in relation to Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ India should not be allowed any more to interfere into our affairs. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Tamil people in the North , East and South and West are our people as much as the Sinhala, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Muslim and others in the North, East, South or West and that we could look after all of them without India poking its nose.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And to make it more effective to let India know that India is India, and Sri Lanka is Sri Lanka we should remove the unacceptable 13th Amendment introduced into our constitution and prepare our own amendments to replace it preparing ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it by our own people, taking time over it, debate and discuss it , weigh the advantages and disadvantages and make our Constitution worthy of what Sri Lanka is today after the end of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 30 years of Indian sponsored terrorism.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We should if necessary remind India that during the 30 years of the terrorism, India had not been our friend, though now and then in its own interest it had helped in the final war against terrorism.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And finally Sri Lanka should at least learn now, not to run to India with documents in hand to meet the Indian political leaders, and discuss with them solutions to our problems.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  India will never give us the correct solutions, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  it would not do us anything ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ better than the Western enemies.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Even if the Sri Lanka politicians go to India for any discussion they should be careful not to issue joint statements, as India would even use them in its own interest, as India seems to be doing with the last joint Statement issued when the Foreign Minister G.L.Peiris went to India to discuss the Ban Ki MoonƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Darusman panel report.

  1. Ratanapala Says:

Politicians in Sri Lanka understand only if there is a hue and cry from the people not to dabble with this poison piece of legislature called the 13th Amendment. It will be the duty of the patriots and patriotic organizations to bring up the ground swell against the 13th Amendment and devolution of power to the provinces. It is not only the Eelamists who are waiting to carve up territory the Christian Church too is waiting to carve out the western seaboard as Christu Rajya.

President Rajapakse won the war because there was the ground swell against Tamil Racist Terrorism in Sri Lanka. If not for the people, mainly Sinhala Buddhists the war against the LTTE would not have been won. There must be a demand by the patriotic Sinhalese that the North and East which constitute the old Raja Rata is historical Sinhala Land and as such cannot be demarcated as majority Tamil areas. These area became majority Tamil Areas during colonial times and most recently during LTTE times.

The Racist Tamils should not be allowed to ‘have and eat the cake’ all the time. While enjoying all the benefits of the south and the capital city of Colombo including Greater Colombo they want to have a separate area with separate police powers and land entitlements. The provisions of the 13 th Amendment are a stepping stone to Ealam and all the efforts of the patriotic nation as well as those of the Ranaviruwoes will be brought to nought.

This administration was not brought to bring this unholy piece of legislation into fruition behind the back of the people.

  2. dhane Says:

Why not Jayalalitha ask central Government to give Tamil Nadu to as their Home Land. If not she should take Arms against Central Government as ask for it her her Tamils people. After creating Tamil Nadu as their country Jayalalitha can invite all Tamils in Sri Lanka, UK, Canada, Australia and even from North Pole also to come and live in Tamil Nudu.

  3. andylingam Says:

    dhane
CM Jayalalitha takling about Srilankan Tamil who live in mother lanka.
If North pole Tamil want to get Tamil Eelam they will get in north pole not in our Mother lanka or Jokers Tamil Nadhu !
We Srilankan can ignore these jokers , We have liberted our motherlanka from LTTE terrarist now.
Now once and for ever implement fully 13nd amendment decentralisted all power to all Nine provistial council .
United our lanka in one flag .
live & let live together ! no sort cut !

One Nation One Lanka for evry ony !!!

  4. andylingam Says:

    Ratanapala
Please We both forgive & forget pass ! We are a one family members .
decentalising power to sub bodies do not create any separate identity for any one.
We do not want live in old Raja histrory any more that won’t help any one .

This Lord Bhuddha’s Holy land for All of us !

  5. thurai Says:

LTTE played a game with Sri Lankan Tamils. Now Tamilnadu politicians stárted. LTTE with arms and killing.
Tamilnadu politicians with poor and hunger. It is better to satisfy Tamil who live in Srilanka , not
overseas Tamils and Tamilnadu Tamils & Politicians. Tamil politicians want more power in Sri Lanka. LTTE want
own land. No one know how many poor people are looking for propect life in North and east.

It is clear Tamilnadu politicians,or TNA and LTTE never interested in the life of the normal people.
They want money and power. Both are fuel for Terrorism. When we consider the better life of all Sri Lankan people
without any discrimination our enimies have no chance.

  6. gamunu6 Says:

CHARLES! I agree with you 110%. Its high time we reject completely implementation of 13th Amendment.

  7. douglas Says:

This 13th Amendment to the S/L Constitution has become a very contentious subject and varying opinions do emerge from various quaters. In the midst, S/L Government also looks to be in a dilemma.

In keeping with its historical background, “arm twisting” tactics seem to be adopted at various times at various levels, by the architects of the legislation. However, all Sri Lankans know that it was not introduced to the Constitution having gone through the procedure spelled out in bringing such amendments. To say the least it did not go through the Supreme Courts or the “Constitutional Courts”. So to us, simple “Siemens” like me this very “Constitutional Provision” is bad in Law.

So why not someone or an organization challange this 13 th Amendment in a Court of Law and plead for its removal from the Constitution. That will make matters easy for the S/L Govenment.

If I remember correct, the “merger of the the North and East”which was an offspring of this Amendment was challenged and a ruling was obtained to “demerge” these provinces and as a result today these two provinces are seperate entities. Thanks to the Court ruling and those who convessed it. everyone, including its architects are silenced and normal life in those two provinces has been established. That helped the S/L Government to abrogate the legislation without any obstacles.

So this should be taken as an example and the very 13th Amendment should be challeged in a Court of Law on the very basis of that it was not passed in Parliament having gone through the proper “laid down” proceedures.

I am open to correction on this opinion. Thank you.

  8. andylingam Says:

    douglas
The Judge given order to demerged now regarding( I am not making up).
Question is not demerge , not demerge , cenralise power or not centralise power ro all provision council is not problme for our govy.
the problme comes when give any think to Srilanka Tamil ,
example in this from no one of Sinhala Sisters/brothers have not comments yet , why ……
Sorry to say We all small minded people ,
    like Thurai said ,
When we consider the better life of all Sri Lankan people without any discrimination our enimies have no chance.

no excusee , for seck of urgument if you give North & East to Muslim they are not going to take to Pakistan
If Srilankan Tamil get confident in their mother lanka decentralised power to all 9 provicl council who live in all over the world they will invest whole country , which benifit all of us.

  9. ranjit Says:

First of all India should stop poking their dirty hands on Sri Lanka. We are fed up of talking about these bullies. Our Government should be more tough on these bully and say to them to mind their own business and leave us alone to live in peace. If they are so worried about their kith and kin in the east and north they should give them a seperate land in India because they have enough space to accomodate them.

We dont know what’s in there in MR ‘s mind but he should give a statement OR tell his position on ugly 13 to the public without keeping us in tension. Rathnapala is correct “Tamils cannot be allowed to have and eat cake all the time” They have to live as Srilankans anywhere they like not as Tamils in seperate areas. Our country belongs to all Sri Lankans and it’s a Sinhalese country where others can live happily and peacefully not as Muslims or Tamils but as Sri Lankans. Everybody suffered during terrorism.Terrorists killed not only Sinhalese but Tamils,Muslims,Burgers and Malays. They deny freedom for all Sri Lankans. They deny schools, freedom of speach, freedom of travelling, freedom of everything and now all Srilankans whether Tamil,Muslim or Sinhalese have the freedom to travel,to go to school,to carry on their jobs,do agriculture and so on. The Government of Mahinda Rajapksa who made this happen and we all should be greatful to him and to his Government not anybody else.
India should be happy for the things this Government has done to the Tamil people and all other races in our beloved land and keep away from our affairs. The Tamils are more happy to live with us than their own in Tamil Nadu because they have more facilities here than there in Jaya Lalitha’s rule. We all say in one voice and I hope all the patriots will stand unitedly and object to 13 th amendment without any second thought for the aske of our country. Wimal and Champika who was against this should rally the public against it and stop India’s bulling tactics for good.

  10. douglas Says:

Dear “andylingam” – Thank you. If I understand correct, you are of the opinion that the judges were “ordered” to give that judgement. I don’t think so. It has become the practice to condemn judgements of the Judiciary when it is not in favour of one’s thinking. That gets wide publicity and even discussed in international parlours.

Then as regards “decentralization” and “devolution”. These, I think, are two different things, in that, “decentralization” is redistribution of functions and powers from a central authority, while “devolution” is the “SURRENDER of functions and powers to local authorities by a central government.

This is what we have to be careful of. Do we want “decentralization” OR “devolution”? What is stated or implied in the 13th Amendments? This has to be studied and discussed widely in relation to the implementation of the 13th. Has that been done? NO. I have asked the ordinary citizens of S/L as well as unversity students and it was surprising to find that they DO NOT KNOW what it is, leave alone the history behind it. This subject remains the exclusive property of the intellectuals and nothing has gone down to the grass root levels. This is so with all the issues in the country, the latest being the “Private Sector Pension Scheme”.

If we work towards “ONE NATION” called “SRI LANKAN” and “ONE COUNTRY” called “SRI LANKA” there is no “MAJORITY” and “MINORITY”. As HE President said ” THOSE WHO LOVE THE COUNTRY AND THOSE WHO DO NOT LOVE THE COUNTRY” are the two categories. What will the 13th Amendment going to achieve towards this goal?. This has to be discussed and that discussion should go down to the every citizen of the country.

  11. andylingam Says:

No point of repeating ourself again again as We all know atleast 1948 to today what we both community ( leave other communities for while) gone through .
no point of saying We do not have any problm between us ( both of us) ,
We both know What we wants !
Tamils want sperate land from Motherlanka & Sinhales do not want to give these to Tamils !

Now how to solve this problme !
We have had so many agreements, so many inteligent committe , so many fighting , so many……

    Now what…..

India ministers are in our Motherlanks for what…. who is hell this idia are in our motherlanka … please think My Sinhala Brothers & Sisters ……

enogh is enough We are inteligent enough to solve this problm ourself !!!!

When we consider the better life of all Sri Lankan people without any discrimination our enimies have no chance.

MRP is more weakened than JRJ Now , I never understand Why Our head of states alway wait out side to twist their armed to do own home work !!!

God bless my mother Lanka !

  13. Lorenzo Says:

    Thurai,

“When we consider the better life of all Sri Lankan people without any discrimination our enimies have no chance.”

    Not true.

In 1947 Tamils had nothing less than Sinhalese. But still they voted for RACIST political parties (All Ceylon Tamil Congress). Since then this process continued.

It is not about lack of discrimination but about Tamil aspirations.

SL should never give into Tamil aspirations. If Tamils fall pray into SL’s enemies’, then counter insurgency measures should be taken to stop that. This discrimination bullshitt has been exploited to create trouble. It has no substance.

Tamil Madu or Toilet Nadu is boiling with Tamil racism. They cannot get a separate country from India. If they try they will be MASSACRED. So they try to get it from SL which is the weaker of the two nations. Even if there is 0% discrimination in SL this will not change. They want a Tamil nation and we are not going to give any. Lets go to war if needed but no giving into discrimination demands. Wars are winnable but this discrimination BS is not winnable.

  14. andylingam Says:

    Lorenzo
So VP was right We Tamils who support the Govt to wiped out LTTE were wrong.
He was saying last 33 years (Nanka addikkadi Sinhalavan onrum thara maddan ) If We do not fight (kill) Sinhales won’t give any think to Tamil !

if Not give any think to Tamil is Sinhalese aspirations than how you expect us to support you against these outsiders ?

All ceylon Tamil congress(1947) Why they call TNA ( Tamil Eelam Tamil National Alliance ) Now?

  15. Lorenzo Says:

    Andy,

He may be about Tamil racist demands that nothing for Tamils only will be given but he and his tribe were violently defeated. Killing Sinhalese won’t take you anywhere. That will make you worse off.

The way forward is to give up Tamil aspirations.

Individual equal rights to all irrespective of race. Nothing more.

Sinhalese, Muslims, Burgurs, Veddas, etc. never demanded racial aspirations. Only “Elam” Tamils.

ACTC to TNA. It doesn’t matter. They were powerless and they are still powerless. That’s all that matter.

  16. Lorenzo Says:

    Andy,

If you kill, you will be killed!

That is the way it is.

  17. ranjit Says:

Lorenzo no need to kill poor Andy or anybody.Nobody can kill Sinhalese and hide now.So dont ever dream to start another fight. We are very peaceful people We all have to live as one family in our beautiful nation. Do not have any doubt on MR’s government because he is the only leader who have guts and will power to face our enemies and do something for our country. See how he does his job and how he get the work done by others. Can Ranil or any other leader do or work like him? Also nothing to worry about 13th amendment as I said before yesterday he has told the visiting Indian delegation that he will not give police powers or land powers to any one except keeping it with the central Government as it is now. So it’s great to hear such statements from the head of state. That is MR a leader who loves his Motherland. He will listen to his people first and then take decisions.

Please help every race to live harmonously as SRI LANKANS without unneccessary problems to build our shattered country for all of us to live peacefully. If we dont like the Government or the President we all have a chance to send them home after six years through the ballet not bullets. So let’s cooperate each other and forget our differences at this moment and rally round MR to face our enemeis whithin and outside.

  18. Lorenzo Says:

    Ranjit,

True but no racist demands whatsoever.

That is the condition for peace. Otherwise its better to get ready for war than compromise.

It is pathetic that still there are those who think there is ethnicity based discrimination in the country.

  19. andylingam Says:

    ranjit
We hope & pray Our country will united as a Nation with out any ethnicity based discrimination.
(Pathetic or not We have ethnicity based discrimination killed 27,000 SL Forces 120,000 Sinhala Civilians , 22,000 LTTE fights , 240,000 Tamil Civilians )

  20. thurai Says:

    Lorenzo

You are right. But I want to say about poor people who never visited southern part of Sri Lanka. TheTamils who enjoyed under British are problem makers. The poor from North and south are same.

Do you know who is our enemy? We have a common enemy. My opinion enemy of Sinhalese is the same enemy of Tamils. Donn´t blame Tamilnadu . Tamils have a enemy who show sinhalese as enemy and misuse and cheat poor Tamils in Tamilnadu and in North and East Sri Lanaka. We have to join together to beat those dirty politicians
Buddhism and Sinhala community must be example for unity and peace in the world by treating Tamils.
Tamil need help from Sinhala Majority now. You must understand the real situation.

You can ask why they vote for seperatist. They are brainwashed.

  21. Lorenzo Says:

    Thurai,

The enemies of people of ALL ETHNICITIES are the same – poverty, lawlessness, corruption, bad governance, lack of opportunities, etc.

We should NEVER look at problems from the race/ethnicity point of view.

First solve the problems faced by ALL then if there is time look at problems specifically faced by ethnic groups.

    Andy,

You are a racist. Stop looking at casualties based on the RACE point of view. HUMANS died. Some were against SL (good they dies no matter what race they were) and some were for SL (bad, no matter what race they belonged to).

Your LTTE numbers are not correct. 22,000 figure was for 2007. Since then at least 25,000 Tamil Tigers died. Entire tiger brigades were wiped out. The entire tiger leadership died.

  22. andylingam Says:

    Lorenzo
