Is Sri Lanka a target of Western regime change?

Wars are today considered ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-commercial opportunitiesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ for economic success & define political power in todayƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s competitive political climate. It was these American MNCs that turned US into a great power so naturally all successive American governments end up governing the most liberal country according to the dictates of the businessmen who run the foreign affairs of mighty USA!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The first regime change by the US took place in 1893 with the overthrowing of Queen Liliuokalani of Hawaii. Since then the US has indirectly & directly been involved in coups, invasions, regime changes in Iran 1953, Guatemala 1954, British Guyana 1953-64, Cambodia 1955-70, Laos 1958-60, Ecuador 1960-63, Congo 1960, Brazil 1962-64, Dominican Republic 1963, Bolivia 1964, Indonesia 1965, Ghana 1966, Chile 1964-73, GreeceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  1967, Bolivia 1971, Australia 1973-75, Portugal 1974-76, Jamaica 1976-80, Chad 1981-82, Grenada 1983, Fiji 1987, Libya 1980s & present, Nicaragua 1981-90, Panama 1989, Bulgaria 1990, Albania 1991, Iraq 1963, 1991 & 2003, Afghanistan 1980s & 2001, Ecuador 2000, Venezuela 2002, Haiti 2004 & Cuba from 1959 to present where over 300 attempts have been made to overthrow Castro.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ American Intervention era

Under the Monroe Doctrine Europe was excluded from colonization in the AmericaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s & intervening in Western hemisphere. In 1904 President Roosevelt enunciated the Corollary to that doctrine permitting US to intervene anywhere to prevent intervention by European powers. Thus the Panama Canal was built for strategic, military & commercial gains & why Columbia became a target of regime change.

Secret documents written in 2000 by Project for the New American Century & titled Rebuilding AmericaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Defenses reveal how US planned to attack Iraq even before invading it in 2001. The documents reveal of the plan to take military control of the Gulf region & establish security for itself. Overthrowing Saddam was a necessity as was the removal of all other ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-obstaclesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. The gameplan is to continue regime change & increase presence of American forces in Southeast Asia & to encourage democratization in China. The blueprint acknowledges Libya, Syria, North Korea & Iran as dangerous regimes. US has occupied a third of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-axis of evilƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ only North Korea & Iran remain threats to US interests. It is easy to know who the next targets will be.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The game is to save the worldƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s economic system established in 1913 with the Federal bank, in 1944 with the World Bank & International Monetary Fund & the 5 banks that planned WW 1 to abolish kingdoms, & banks that backed Hitler in WW2 to control oil & to finance Muslim brotherhood to drive Europe out of the Arab world. To these bankers nationalism is the enemy but they fund leaders that use nationalism as propaganda to gain power so long as they function as puppets of capitalism thereafter.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Regime change influenced by Commercial interests

The reasons for regime change are simple & often prompted by corporate lobbyists. Corporates didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t want to pay export duties in Hawaii so it was overthrown, United Fruit Co didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t want to loose out to nationalism in Guatemala, so the government was overthrown, loss of copper stakes to US elites meant the overthrow of ChileƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s government, IranƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s case was oil while US lumber & mining companies did not like the Nicaraguan leader & Honduras joined the list of regime changes because the American banana magnates decided so. In Kosovo the US wanted to establish a military base in the Balkans & tap its oil, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Tunisia all are perfect for advancing US geopolitics & future strategies. Therefore, there is no reason to be surprised when the ICC, UNHRC or any such international bodies meet & endorse resolutions & agree to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-unanimousƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ trade embargoes, freeze on assets etcƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦these are all part of the gameplan to zero in on countries that have been targeted on paper. Foundations are only laid to ensure that the internationally accepted ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-excusesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ for invasions or international actions are justified. International bodies & their statutes become artfully interpreted tools.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Need we give more examples of AmericaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s bullying? America has shown it has the power to dislodge the gentlest leader to the most corrupt. America has overthrown democratically elected leaders & replaced them with downright murderers & ironically dislodged these very stooges leaving these countries defenseless against their own. The US is responsible for creating monsters, keeping them in power so long as they allowed the countries natural resources to be divided amongst Western elites. Dethrowning them no sooner they act beyond western dictates has been the blueprint being used & reused over the past century. The world has set up international courts to take to trial political leaders but why are those trials ignoring the biggest perpetrator ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the US?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Americans being fooled by false propaganda

Americans have been fooled over the years by their politicians & more importantly the supposed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-independentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ media. Americans have fallen for the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-saving humanityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ brining ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-democracyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-human rightsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ clichƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚©s which have been excuses to totally ruin nations. What Americans are guilty of is blindly accepting & believing all that its Government & its media has fed them. To most Americans, the invasion of Iraq was acceptable for they were totally clueless about the history, about the truth of US involvement vis a vis regime changes & support of terrorism & most importantly very few Americans even knew that Saddam Hussein was previously a CIA agent. How many Americans know that the US supported not only Saddam Hussein but dictators like General Pinochet, Ferdinand Marcos, General Suharto, Anastascio Somoza, Pol Pot who killed 1.5million people? All these dictators were supported by the US directly or indirectly. How many knew that Osama bin Laden was a man nurtured by the US & who had financial interests in the US? Similarly Americans remain clueless about all other clandestine activities that its Governments have been involved with over the centuries & its media have ensured Americans have been kept in the dark as well. Had Americans known the truth, Americans would certainly have demanded answers from US legislatures for 1million Iraqi deaths & thousands more even after US occupation.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The outcome of these ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-military invasionsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

These regime changes are often described as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-catastrophic victoriesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” victories to the US & allies but catastrophic to the people of the nations that end up suffering. Iraq today is far worse than it was under its ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-dictatorƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ Saddam. There are more deaths, more destruction, more patients suffering from the forbidden weapons used by US & UK troops than when Saddam was ruling. Afghanistan is no better & its people are suffering not only from the Taliban but also from Allied & NATO fires. Kosovo after 9 years of military occupation has over 60% unemployment. The only source of employment is by working for US/NATO or UN agencies. It is the center of international drug trade & prostitution. Its mines, mills, refining centers, railroads all sit silent. Its rich resources have become privatized & sold to western MNCs. Dick CheneyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Halliburton was given the contract to build Camp Bondsteel, the US military base. US is guarding all oil & transportation lines while over 250,000 Serbians, RomaniƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s & including Albanians have been driven out of the Serbian province. Is this the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-democracyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ that these people sought & was promised by the US & the West? Libyans need to seriously think before taking to the streets in jubilation & spare a minute to wonder what their fate is likely to beƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦it certainly will be far worse than Gaddafi. All these regime changed nations have found too late that the known devil was afterall better than the unknown angel that came to them as their savior!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ How US deposed elected leaders

The first instance of deposing a foreign leader was in 1909 when President William Taft ordered the overthrow of Nicaraguan President Jose Santos Zelaya. The excuse was to protect American security & promote democratic principles. The real reason was to protect American companies to operate as they liked in Nicaragua. The 1981-90 Nicaragua Contra revolution was directed by the CIA to overthrow Sandinista. Though it was illegal to fund the contras under the Boland Amendment the CIA continued to do so leading to the Iran-Contra scandal.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Taking aid from USSR & annoying the Belgiums, the corproates & CIA became reason enough to overthrow Patrice Lumumba of Congo in 1960.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In Ecuador (1960-63), its democratically elected President Velasco was forced to resign under regime change orchestrated by the US same fate occurred in the Dominican Republic in 1965.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ While Chile (1964-73) one of the most stable countries in Latin America fell due to Americans viewing President Allende Gossens as a communist & for his attempts to control the giant MNCs (Pepsi, Kennecott Corp, Anaconda Mining, International Telephone & Telegraph Co ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” which all had US interests). These corporates succeed to strike the Government with a credit squeeze, hired people to strike, engineered public protests & with internal governmental apparatus corrupt as in most developing nations it was easy to create the chaos needed to depose President Allende. President Allende committed suicide inside the Presidential palace refusing a safe passage out of the country. Chile became a nation silenced & ruined by the US,UN MNCs & US banks. In 1973, US brought in the dictator Pinochet which resulted in over 50,000 deaths. Pinochet was extradited from Spain in 1990 to stand trial for these murders. Few international media cared to question US & its direct involvement in bringing Pinochet into power. Another complicity in mass murder that the US escapes from.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Spanish-American War in 1899 was launched by US President McKinley to bring Cuba, Puerto Rico, Philippines under US control. Invasion of Philippines resulted in over 4000 US troop deaths, 16000 guerillas & 20,000 civilians. In Cuba, America wanted to protect over $50million of its investment in agriculture yet Cuba remains the only country that has been able to withstand US regime change programs. Over 600 regime change attempts against Castro has taken place to date. Voluntary organizations working closely with the CIA are now being used. Thus the Cuban National Foundation receiving US$390,000 for anti-Castro activities.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Even the former British colony of Grenada (1983) became a target of regime change with 6000 US troops landing without informing the Brits & Prime Minister Bernard Coard overthrown.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Panama became the target in 1989 under orders of President George Bush & leader Noriega was captured & put on trial in the US. Incidentally, Noriega had been an agent of the CIA for over 30 years.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Haiti experienced a military coup in 1991 & leader Aristide was overthrown but in 1994 US troops invaded Haiti & reinstalled Aristide.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In 1986, Libyan leader Gaddafi was targeted for a regime change when US bombed his residence killing his daughter & wounding 2 sons. Libya has almost but fallen despite numerous attempts on GaddafiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s life since 1986 by the US & allies who have gone so far as to even arm rebels.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In 1964, PM Nkrumah was overthrown by a CIA backed coup in Ghana. Nkrumah was voted AfricaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s man of the millennium by listeners of BBC World Service in 2000.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In 1976, Isabel Peron of Argentina was overthrown & replaced with a US supported military junta headed by General Videla till 1983.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The CIA went on to overthrow Guatemala leader Jorge Elias & replace him with Ramio Carpio simply to satisfy United Fruit Co who owned one-fifth of the countrys arable land through a 99 year land lease agreement tax free. Guatemalans formed guerilla bands & murder & mayhem followed with countrymen killing their own for no reason at all. This repression killed more than 200,000 Guatemalans & the US stands accused for creating the anarchy that prevailed & international media is guilty of not reading between the lines to depict the truth.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In 2002 Washington is said to have approved & supported a coup against the democratically elected Venezuelan Government. These memos titled ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Last Phase of Operation PincerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ are supposed to reveal how US embassy & CIA coordinated the overthrow. Similarly, President Chavez was quick to point fingers at the US when Honduras military woke President Zelaya & forced him out of the country in 2009. The Honduras military & US have longstanding ties & it is one of the US top trading partners & the plotters were said to be promoters of the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-free trade agreementsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ & will show that at whatever costs capitalism will never be allowed to fall.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ If US complains that Iran is a country of fundamentalists, the US may like to ponder why it deposed in 1953 Mossadegh IranƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s democratically elected Prime Minister. Mossadegh was loved by his people & his vision was to set up a lasting democracy & strengthen nationalism. This equated to throwing out the UK oil company ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Anglo Iranian Oil which had been making 170million pounds profit annually. Thus, the British & CIA coordinated regime change with Mossadegh soon to be portrayed as a communist (which he was not) & then the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-revolutionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ using hired thugs to create anarchy in Tehran resulting in the ouster of Mossadegh & the reinstating of the Shah by US. The reward was 40% shares in oil to Standard Oil, Texaco & Mobil corp. Today, Hezbollah guerillas in Lebanon are the spiritual heirs of the Ayatollah & protƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚©gƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚©s of the radical Iranian clerics. These same groups are sponsoring terror globally simply to humiliate the US. Did the US err is overthrowing Mossadegh? We all know that Pinochet, Suharto, Pol Pot, Gaddafi, Saddam, Osama were all darlings of the US & that perhaps is one reason why they needed to be ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-silencedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ forever.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ MediaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s role in crimes against humanity & infiltrating civil society

The US stands guilty of using unethical means to invade nations, influence international media & even align with foreign governments to promote a wrong notion that they are helping to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-democratizeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ countries from ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-dictatorsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. Media helps to promote US & allies as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-saviorsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ & creates the local euphoria to back invasion attempts. The surprising aspect of these regime change programs is that the same blueprint is used but US citizens seem totally oblivious to the realities that prevail. They keep falling for the same bait given by the US governments as well as international media.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Media has played a crucial role in portraying the wrong information & creating the foundation need for the invasions to take place. Media portrayed Guatemala as falling to communists, media showcased only the ugly side of Saddam, little did media pay attention to the atrocities carried out by American, UK or allied troops in Iraq, Afghanistan or any of the other nations that these ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-military invasionsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ took place not even the illegal ammunition they used. All the while the televisions & other print media was concentrating on only portraying all those against the US & the West as the wrong doers & enticing readers to think along that version only. Social network channels, bloggers & twitters have become the latest means of invisibly creating the fear psychosis & people power necessary to create mayhem in countries. This is how Egypt fell & steamrolled the spate of public uproar thereafter across the Middle East in peopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s movements that the West claimed was to demand ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-democracyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ & required the assistance of the West. A perfect ploy to provide the excuse & the basis for the West to enter these regions. So bloggers, twitters are all handled perfectly by these regime change proponents & most of them are even funded by the West & tasked to create the ground situation through the voice of locals.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The next question is why there is no dissent in Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia or Morocco ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” these are obviously US client states & the fact that the US abandoned regime change & opted to maintain the military presence in Bahrain clearly shows double standards of the US. The US however failed in Yemen because it did not take into consideration that Yemen was already regionally & tribally divided.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Most regime change programs start off by diplomatic & commercial isolation, trade embargoes, acts of terror, military support to rebels, assassination plots, ties with internal political opposition, tapping of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-intellectuals, academics & reputedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ civil society personages & getting them to carry message through speeches, writings etc. We all know who these ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-academicsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ & ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-civil societyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ personages are in Sri Lanka who are paid to promote the change of opinions. Then come the NGO agencies who are funded by the West & who are able to slowly penetrate into civil society providing change from a different angle. These NGOs use their websites to reach out to locals and it is their version that is accepted by international media against local governments at all times. Strikes, street protests, civil unrest are all part of these programs (in 1964 strikes & arson promoted by the CIA led to the overthrowing of the Guyanian government, in Ecuador it provoked 2 military coups) So when Hugu Chavez of Venezuela faces opposition, it takes little to wonder who are behind these! The US has a long history of blowing up airliners & sinking ships & blaming countries to justify invasion & war. A good example is the 1985 bombing of Air India flight 182 when Rajiv Gandhi said India would not become a political ally of the US. Rajiv was assassinated in 1991 & many believe that the killing was more than an order given by LTTE leader Prabakaran

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is not difficult to conclude that regime change is the norm of US foreign policy & will be used to overthrow governments that are hostile to US interests (governmental or corporate). US has international allies including NATO ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” no international body stopped the bombing of democratically elected Yugoslav President MilosevicƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s residence in1999, nor the illegal bombing of Serbia in 1999, no international body stopped the invasion of Macedonia, or stopped the invasion of Iraq & Afghanistan & the crimes against humanity that ensued thereafter. Where were the international humanitarian laws to demand why the US killed an unarmed man ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” even if he was Osama bin Laden a one time friend of the US but a man who knew too many secrets of the US?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The 2003 regime change in Iraq differs for it was not a covert operation & the US did not justify or rationalize its decision to invade. That it was advocated openly & without apology to international laws or diplomacy spell alarming dangers & should awaken sleeping international bodies as it is pointless accepting international designations if they simply watch atrocities take place & even sign decrees authorizing such.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In all of these instances, regime change & intervention has been prompted when leaders of nations have attempted to redistribute land or nationalize or sought assistance of countries the West claim to be their enemies. All these coups, revolutions & invasions have been prompted by the fact that the US has feared or distrusted these governments. President Rajapakse was referred to as a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-hawkƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ no sooner he became elected thus signaling that he is included into the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-distrustƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ list & spells the need for caution.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In such instances, diplomacy will be tied to rewards for governments & government leaders that support American interests, which turns to threats of retaliation if US offers are refused, retaliation comes in the form of funding & creating uprisings, supporting coups, revolts, mass protests, trade union backing, unrest & civil disobedience movements. From Hawaii to Libya & now Syria the modus operandi is clear. In Tunisia & Egypt, the US replaced their own puppet regimes while in Libya & Syria the US is attacking resisting governments & attempting to replace them with US puppets. This is why the scenario in Libya & Syria is taking the shape of a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. The US regime change for Syria started with the false flag terror campaign to tarnish the image of popular President Bashar-al Assad through hired street protests & paid carnage. In 2007, Syria was bombed on unsubstantiated claims that it had nuclear weapons while Israel has been using white phosphorus against civilians in Gaza violating Geneva Conventions & US & UK troops used depleted uranium in Iraq & Yugoslavia & the world stays mum.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Regime change is wrong ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the simple logic is that western politicians cannot dictate how people of other nations should lead their lives. They cannot simply crush traditions, cultures & lifestyles that have prevailed for centuries.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The US has deposed democratic leaders & placed autocrats or dictators, they have used direct & indirect covert practices, even funded, armed & trained insurgents. Sri Lanka need not go too far to wonder why LTTE prevailed for 30 years. Then with the soft war campaigners who take over the media campaign to portray a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-failed stateƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ phenomena & need for intervention in the form of a R2P, the civil groups alongside the NGOs are next funded to help execute the regime change. These are all part of a chain that has become a very powerful means to tap natural resources & completely disturb & destroy civilizations.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ US in all these attempts to take over nations has forgotten its own financial status & the developing countries have rallied to make BRIC ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Brazil, Russia, India & China who hopefully will use the nations resources to benefit the people rather than the economic elite format followed by the US & Europe. Divide & rule & sucking out natural resources whilst ruining the lives of its citizens must see the end of day.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Capitalism is the belt that countries must wear or face ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-terrorismƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ of US & allies. Until Americans ask their Governments the logic behind spending money on drone attacks against people they assume are guilty without evidence the crimes against humanity that are taking place will continue unabated watched & even endorsed by international bodies that are meant to protect humans, & internationally relayed by media channels preferring to cash in on the news without questioning the ethics of what is taking place.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The patterns of regime changes are easy to understand & Sri Lanka needs to be cautious all the while for Sri Lanka doesnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t need to do wrong or even right, explanations of allegations are really a waste of time for the allegations are part of a bigger gameplan & it is the countering of that which matters above the explanations given to the allegation. To a great extent China has shielded Sri Lanka & we have harbored the best resistance for any developing nation targeted for regime change.

Long ago, CIA assassinated undesirable leaders. Now, they don’t do that. Even US companies influenced regime changes in Latin america. There were some countries called Banana republics. That was true.

A well timed article. Author beautifully outlines the American history of regime changes and the implications. Obviously Sri Lanka must be in their agenda. Unfortunately for them the government is still very popular. They will wait for the right time. Perhaps ‘Grease Devil’ phenomena is a way of testing the situation by them. It will be a huge task ahead for the government and all the patriotic Sri Lankans to combat the western hipocrisy and double standard. Remember ‘Together we stand. Devided we fall’

  3. purohithaa Says:

A beautiful essay well researched to factually argue how US schemes to manipulate the unsuspecting masses in those countries that do not toe to the US agenda! I see the unrest is gradually brewing back home for the slightest opportunity, it’s time our politicians take note and act without procrastinating.

The country is riding only on Rajapaksa’s popularity, but he needs the effective services of the Ministries to sustain the government’s popularity, sadly this is not forthcoming! The West will not miss if conditions are ripe for them to step in!

  4. geoff Says:

    How many times they tried?

They bet on Fonseka and lost. Their man Ranil is doing very well!

    They will not give up.

But there are other countries that are also interested in regime change/keeping in Sri Lanka. West will not go unchallenged.

  5. geoff Says:

Blake and Butenis are doing this everyday.

  6. gdesilva Says:

This is the right question to ask and the answer of course, is YES and always has been YES – there is little doubt that O’Blake and Butenis have been tasked with the job of bringing this Govt. to its knees and replacing Rajapaksa with Wickremesinghe who will lick the boots of political masters in the US and UK.

With Iraq they invented the WMD story (Weapons of Mass Deception!) and Libya a ‘popular’ uprising. But now they do not even have to do that. Just the other day Obama told that the President of Syria must leave. Now it has come to a point that they can tell who can stay and who should go – just like that. In this context, unfortunately, things are not looking great for Sri Lanka. The CIA will soon determine who should rule this country and our gullible Colombians can be proud of the fact that they have helped to bring the country down, yet again, just like in 1815. Unfortunately, the history has a tendency to repeat itself….

if you most American people except media people about Tamil Tigers, they will ask “what it is that ? is it a hockey teem
in the world? and tell them why killing Muslim and why supporting Tigers? They will tell ” what is that we never heard about it” Ask about the state of Maine from a Florida man, you will hear this “I have been to the province of Maine in Canada, it is green and beautiful, people are also friendly, I am planing going back there again”.

Go to Yahoo and read the comments on news web on first page and see how American spell who are born English .
second read their comments and you will see this “kill the women and children” gas children, poison children, poison farmland and leave”. They do know why Al Qeada attack American but do not want to accept that reason why and do not believe Muslim or any other nation have right to fight back.

  9. Rohan8 Says:

Yes, the Global Elite would eventually like regime change in Sri Lanka to go along with their global domination agenda. However Sri Lankans for the moment can breath easy. Sri Lanka doesn’t have anything that is really important to the criminal Global Elite of the world like huge reserves of OIL or producing its own currency backed by gold which isn’t part of their World Bank, IMF, Bank of International Settlements, or having a govt developing its own country and the region independent of control from these bodies for the benefit of their populations.
This is exactly what Libya and Muammar Gadaffi had been doing. Mmmmm wonder why Muammer Gadaffi and Libya was attacked!!!!!

Unfortunately Russia and China are part of their system, meaning they are under the control of the Global Elite. That is why at the UN when they had the opportunity to veto the UN vote which would have prevented the death and destruction in Libya, Russia and China abstained.
The Global Elite control the East and the West through the global financial system.
So Sri Lanka for the moment can rest easy.
The only thing that would be of value to the Global Elite of this world is a military and trade strategic location. However the Global Elite have their military base stationed on a small group of Islands south west of Sri Lanka called Diego Garcia.
So they don’t have any real reason to take over Sri lanka at this stage, although I would agree that eventually they would like a western regime change to fit their globalist agenda.
I hope Shenali Waduge reads what I have just written above. I am sure she will understand what I am talking about here as she is a highly intelligent person.
Basically what I am saying is Sri lankans should understand that the world is run by an extremely powerful criminal global elite. This group needs to be identified and resisted if the world wants a better future for itself including Sri Lanka.

  10. AnuD Says:

I think they may hareass Sri Lanka. Other than that, regime changes may not be in the cards b’cos we don’t have OIL, diamonds, precioius metals, mineral resources etc.,etc.,But, they certainly don’t like our closeness to China. But, on the other hand, they are also aware the role of India in Sri Lanka. That is how I think.

If we find Oil and if it is hugh then the equation will change.

Shenali having read your article above I would like to take issue on one point. The so called “Libyans” you see demonstrating on the news are actually Al Qaida and Nato backed mercenaries which has nothing to do with Libya or the Libyan people. 98% of whom totally back their great leader Muammar Gadaffi. Plus Gadaffi had the foresight to anticipate an imperial invasion of his land. He has armed his millions with weaponry to the teeth. Meaning it won’t be as easy as NATO thinks to take over Libya. Already there is reports that the and western special forces and Al Qaida mercenaries are being wiped out by the armed citizenry population of Libya. I anticipate NATO will up the stakes and send an invasion force from the NATO countries in a desperate gambit to have an Imperial take over of Libya. This will be a disaster for the invading force because the armed to the teeth population will resist. Meaning the any invasion force will be cut to pieces by an armed population loyal to Gaddafi. Also don’t believe news reports that the Libyan leadership is dead or captured or something, these are just outright lies perpetrated by the media across the world. I would have thought after the Channel 4 broadcast, Shenali would have been wise to not believe you believe the major news corporation reports emanating from Libya. Nothing is as it seems!

US interferance did not start today. We start with Yankee dickie who manipulated every thing . Only thing he did not do was to change a man to a woman as he claimed. SL is still paying the price for what this idiot did. It is said that the CIA was invoved with the election in 1977. More interestingly their agent MOSSAD trained the Tigers and Sri Lankan Army at the same time and called them both MONKEYS. Monkeys we are as long as we remain ignorant and trusting them.

Superb article, Thanks Shnenali, as usual your research is spot on. I bet this will never be published in so called Western free press.

    Dear Shenali Waduge!

Very interesting as always facts & figures speak for themselves. It is true as in the many conflicts, US, UK European Union have a say, while Russia & China are to a lesser extent. Their involvment is to counter Wstern push into places like Sri Lanka without any significant natural resources, they require.

Many wars are instigated & conducted because of OIL. West collectively absorb much of world production and yet want more.

After all, wars are needed to keep the industrial war comples/ suppliers mostly from USA to propser. Just imagine overnght if these massive companies run of funds to keep them going. Unemployment will be worse, there will be riots and US President will be gone for good.

Its always the so called Int. Community including India that provoke, passing judgements on smaller countries. They call themselves as protectors of their spheres of influence. Even at the peril of their own economies these countries & their leaders pursue interferring in democratically elected Sovereign States.

Cutting off aid, and isolation are promonent punishments meated out by these bunch, calling themselves members of world police. All with their ulterior motives are to benefit their own countries and personal egos.

Shenali!! very valuable contribution & many thanks for your insights & analysis of US & other western countries motives. Its is for us to, as one country indivisible, united under one flag, to be vigilant about these governments & their distructive policies.

Just some observations from a person who still loves his motherland.

May the noble triple gems guide you, protect you always & God bless!….Gamunu Alahakkone. P.Eng Canada, C.Eng UK. Retired engineer.

I think that for a start, we, for our part, should stop using this phrase ‘regime change’. It is another of those terms thought up by the Americans to sanitise and present in acceptable light, what is essentially an unworthy and horrible thing. ‘Regime change’ is a euphemism for the overthrow (historically by unconstitutional and violent means) of the government or leadership of a country. Of course, it is an unlawful and illegal enterprise but by calling it ‘regime change’ they would have us believe that what is contemplated is some innocuous, acceptable undertaking.

This is typical of the Americans. They are forever thinking up phrases to hide inconvenient truths. For instance, they don’t want to admit to civilians killed during their invasions of other countries, so, they refer to them as ‘collateral damage’, a phrase which gives no obvious clue to the fact that the reference is to human beings, every bit as human and every bit as entitled to live peaceful lives as any American.

‘Regime change’ simply means ‘overthrow of the government’. Let’s state that very simply and clearly so that we remain aware of what actually it involves.

  16. AnuD Says:

I think during the cold war time, USA also killed leaders overthrew govts and engaged even in terrorism. they blew up a cuban plane some where in Caribbeans. USA was very influential in Latin america and africa and even now. The reason is resources.

Sri Lanka is still important as a strategic point in the sea lanes in order to contain China. That may be their thinking.

But, china is very smart. China learend evenfrom Japan and they are doing it better.

USSR wanted to do similar things and asked help from China too, I suppose. At that time, China was poor and China also was insecure with Russia. So, that did not work.

Shenali has been a prolific writer. Before she writes, I believe she does a thorough research, and then her facts get into a methodical presentation. We have nothing or poor to advice her as to how to understand the politics of the World. She is intelligent, her clinical analysis is spot on! We only have to sit and read the intoxicating substance presented and if possible direct her articles to others for a treat! The busy body Robert O’ Blake is on his way, but why, why why? Is he about to discipline the wayward citizens of Sri Lanka? Hmmmmm regime Channnnnge?

  18. AnuD Says:

Why Robert blake wants to talk even to University students. That is interferance. they should leave university students alone.

Rebels in Libya talk very good English and that means they went from the west. Some of the rebels are Libyan and university students studied in the western universities. Even their parents living in Libya did not know they ahd come back are fighting as rebels.

Is USA trying to some thing like that in Sri Lanka too ?

  19. Samson Says:

Mr Blake will be in Sri Lanka on August 29.

He is one ugly grease devil. :)

Nandimitra, your attempt to change the main theam of the article would have been OK before Mihinda Rajapakse became the President. I ask, where does MOSSAD come in to it. This story, that Israel trained SL Army and TAMIL NADU TERRORISTS was cooked up long time ago(about 15 years ago) by LTTE properganda unit. At that time no country sold any military equipmet to SL. Only countries that sold were ISRAEL, Pakistan and China. Without the Israeli Kafire attack jet and the Attack boat, Prabharkern would have captured Anuradhapura and distroyed our Sinhala history. You forgot to mention the book that a former MOSSAD agent wrote, he was paid millions by CARITAS, the Catholic NGO. Calling late J.R. Jayawardena Yankee Dickie was the same British colonial punks who does not like the Sri Lanka constitution. Without this GREAT CONSTITUTION, which is far superior to the INDIAN constitution, Mahinda Rajapkse could have never WON THIS WAR and HE MR reinfrced it with the 18th amendment. Nandimitra, come out with your true identity, you are a Tamil working in EELAM HOUE in London or a JVPer who has no place in Sri Lanka politics. Why do you go back to 1977 and CIA? JR came to power with the PEOPLES VOTE and not by a CIA led coup d’etat. The great SL constitution, that JR and his cabnet created gave a kick to teeth of the Dirty, Stinking, Dark Skinned (Quote by US Vice -Council Maureen Chao) Tamil Nadu Tamils. That is why Rajiv Gandhi attemted to change SL constitution in favor of Tamils. Shenali has written an excellent artcle about what US done in the past, and is doing now and will do in the future. You tried to change this focus, but failed.

There is a lot of truth in in Shenali Waduuge’s well researched article. There is no doubt that America was heavily involved in regime change in many countries over the years. However in my view what is happening in most Arab countries is entirely a different matter. It started in Tunisia with the over throwing of Ben Ali who was a good ally of the west. In the case of Egypt one of most closest and the strongest ally of US and Europe Mubarak was overthrown by the people. In Libya Gaddafi and his family ruled for more that 42 years, It was inevitable that the population will
follow the the Egyptian and Tunisia’s example. The west no doubt facilitated and helped the uprising against Gadaffi. They have never forgiven the Lockerbee bombing ,his support for IRA terrorist and many other terrorist financing.
We can see what is happening to the ordinary people in Syria, sooner or later that dictatorship will come to an end.

In my view we are going to see more uprising in the middle east and regime changes which has got nothing to do with US or Europe.China like America will support regimes which suits her political ambition, irrespective how oppressive the regime is. Burma and North Korea are two good examples.
With huge leap forward in technology such as face book and twitter youngsters are asking questions, fully aware of the world around them, they want freedom of expression and justice.
The idea that a family, a single person or one party behave as though they own the country (eg:Gaddafi and Assad) will not wash with the future generation.
China is not a homogeneous country as many imagine, changes will come about,it happened to mighty Soviet Union.People’s desire for freedom is a powerful force, the people power will get stronger and we are going to see many changes over the next few decades. One of the great recent examples of people power is what is currently happening in India with Anna Hazzare’s fast with millions of supporters to get rid of corruption, no Indian government can ignore such a powerful force for justice.

Shenali is a very able writer and researcher, and I think it is wrong to blame US and West for events in Libya. In a way when the population is helpless against dictators it is good some democratic countries can stand up against oppression without fear or consequences.
