Indian Expansionist Agenda Dangerous for the Region

Recently Indian security officials claimed that a Chinese fishing boat had spied on its missiles, carried out research in the India Ocean with a military agenda and violated its waters. Further, they claimed the fishing boat in question called at the Colombo port after Indian warships tailed it. A nice little propaganda tactic but an outdated one.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Instigated by the US, India is now trying to project its military strength over Asia. In 2005 the Pentagon came up with a fancy story of a necklace of pearls claiming that Chinese maritime interests, including defence interests, in the South Asian region are surrounding India. Six years have passed but nothing of the sort happened. It is a strategy bound to fail and land the third world ambitious nation in turmoil, neighbourhood disputes, civil unrest and misery. With its dirty expansionist frenzy, India has totally busted its chances to crawl into the Security Council. Now there is absolutely no chance of India securing a permanent seat in the UNSC.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What Really Happened?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Propaganda is part of defence or most part of defence. Any incident can be turned into a beneficial or less disadvantageous propaganda. The same event can be seen from both sides with different interpretations. After the discovery of huge undersea oil reserves in South China Sea, a tense situation arose as China, Vietnam, the Philippines and other neighbouring countries made counter claims. Most of those challenging the Chinese position are instigated by USA which is increasingly worried about ChinaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s defence capabilities. US President, Secretary of State and the South Asian Assistant Secretary had one message for India – India should play a bigger role in the region. It is the old western strategy of setting up one nation against another.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Without any provocation, India sent its amphibious attack ship, INS Airavat in July this year to Vietnam. India claimed it wanted to establish a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-sustainable presenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in the region. Situated far away from Indian territorial waters, India has no self defence interest in this region. Cam Ranh Bay in southern Vietnam is a strategic port used by American forces during the Vietnam War and after the American defeat, Soviet and Russian forces used it until 2002. Indian warships creeping into Cam Ranh is totally uncalled for and must be avoided to keep regional peace. After leaving port, the Indian warship had wandered into contested areas and Chinese authorities had demanded the Indians to explain their presence. A Chinese warship confronted the Indian intruder and forced the Indian vessel to leave the area immediately.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Having suffered humiliation in attempting to project its force beyond its area of national interest, Indian authorities added spin to the event by creating a counter claim.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Making counter allegations is the commonest form of propaganda attack to cover up a humiliating episode.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Indian allegation that a Chinese fishing boat was spying on Indian interests is concocted propaganda as part of this attack.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Indian Retaliation

The concocted story to cover up the humiliation in South China Sea involves Sri Lanka. According to Indian claims the Chinese fishing boat was around the Andaman Islands when it was spotted and then it sailed to Colombo! That is a very long way to sail! It could have easily gone back to China or towards the east, away from India. This is an attempt to blame Sri Lanka thereby put pressure on China. India views, wrongly, that growing Chinese investments in the island pose a threat to it which is absurd. China has not shown any military interest in Sri Lanka so far. But if India bullies every neighbour as it regularly does, Sri Lanka will have to team up with all other regional nations that are inimical to India.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As per the concocted story, Sri Lanka is akin to Vietnam in allowing external warships and spy vessels into the region.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is a serious matter which must be monitored carefully. Indians should not be allowed to use Sri Lanka against Chinese interests.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ USA has a Little Present for India, a Time Bomb

USA created needless wars between north and south KoreaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and north and south VietnamƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to create regional instability to occupy the area. Afghan rebels were set against Soviet troops and the Afghan government until it boomeranged on them. Thereafter Pakistan was chosen to do all the dirty work ruining it completely. With a deadline of 2014 drawing closer in Afghanistan, USA plans to leave the problem to India and get out of the Afghan humiliation just as they did in Iraq. Surely, Pakistan and Iran are not going to fight Afghan rebels including the Taliban. Due to atrocities by western troops, there is growing civilian support for the rebel group. India will be the only country that will have to face the Taliban threat after coalition forces leave Afghanistan. This is the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-bigger India roleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ US officials have been talking about!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Indians must be reminded of their 1962 defeat. No right thinking ruler would want to see that once again. Real enemies of Asian solidarity must be identified and countered. With the worldƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s third largest Muslim population in India, it will be a disaster if it tries to militarily win against the Taliban where both USA and the Soviet Union failed. Resultant internal strife will disintegrate India along ethnic lines.

    Dilrook Kannangara,

When Americans leave Afghanistan, Indians will be butchered by Taliban. This definitely will happen.

India’s Muslim population is the second largest in the world. Not third.

Our leaders have nodded a lot of demands made by India.

Unwanted Indian goods are filled throughout the island. Unfortunately, our leaders are not demanding anything to India.

Indian foreign policy of Sri Lanka has never been changed up to now, even the tamil terrorism was defeated.

India is still hanging on separation of Sri Lanka and pressing hard day by day for the non-existing tamil problem.

Indians are entering to our motherland like dogs without Visas. From illegal migrants to nefarious raw agents are now flowing freely and started to ruin Sri Lanka.

We should be allowed Chinese warships to roam N&E coast to teach India a lesson.

We need leaders like R Premadasa.

Sri Lanka has to face for duel Indian expansionism. First is New Delhi oriented hindu expansionism and the second is tamil nadu oriented tamil racist expansionism.
In 1939 Thondaman’s Ceylon Indian Congress (now C.W.C-Ceylon worker’s congress) was a Nehru’s idea and Nehru came as a chief guest for the inauguration. Ever since India interfered to our internal affairs. This exposed when they trained tamil racist terrorists in tamil nadu against Sri Lanka and 1987 direct invasion. Now they try their best to create eelam in north and east of Sri Lanka.
Tamil nadu expansionism has more danger agenda. What they want is tamil racist eelam first against Sri Lanka and secondly use eelam against Delhi rulers. Tamil nadu agenda is backed by western imperialist U.S.A and Europeans. Tamil racist eelam idea is nothing new to us. It was elara tried B.C 167 but failed. Chelvanayakam tried failed, M.G. Ramachandran tried failed. Prabakaran tried failed. But they continuously try.
We have to have a policy to avoid both expansionisms as none second to the other and equally danger to us.

I think we should send the victorious Sri Lankan Army to India, starting with Tamil Nadu,to teach them a lesson, stop buying any goods from India. Better still pass a law that all Sri Lankans must eat with chop-sticks and not with fingers like the uncivilized backward Indians. Only import food items from China. If there is any disaster like the tsunami be proud and do not accept any help from India and its Western allies, only China should be allowed to help. Allow China to establish a naval base to teach India a lesson.
Finally stop teaching English Language and make it compulsory to learn Chinese as the second language. after all Sri Lanka’s future is with China, must as well start planning now making the changes that I have suggested.

  4. ranjith Says:

    oldfarm39,

If Sri Lanka wishes to be colonised by China, then we should prefer to pay high interests for their loans/credits.

I do not think China will always safeguard our country whatever it faces.

Politically or economically, we shouldn’t cut ties with any country even to India.

That doesn’t mean that we should nod all the demands what India makes!
