Robert Blake, please answer Sri Lankans

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There are confusions related to the context of terrorism, internally displaced, rehabilitation, reintegration, resettlement, human rights violations & the like ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” questions which the US, UK, EU, UN & a host of private NGOs seem to enjoy hurling at Sri Lanka & accusing it repeatedly. Despite these questions being thrown at the Sri Lankan Government from various fronts, the Government being elected by the people, which means us the public, we would now like to have some answers from you.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Is the LTTE a terrorist organization? Is the LTTE not proscribed by US, UK & EU making 32 countries to include the LTTE as a terrorist organization? If so, what stops your government from taking actions against all private movements, organizations including charities that openly promote & continue to administer LTTE terrorism on foreign soil? What is the US Governments stand on the Transnational Government another arm of the LTTE now set up because these operators desire to continue clandestine activities that include money laundering, narcotics, illegal prostitution, human smuggling & collection of funds to be shared amongst its directorates!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Was Saddam Hussein a terrorist for the US to launch ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Operation Iraqi FreedomƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ in 2003? If not why did 198,200 troops invade Iraq? Was there WMDs? If Saddam was reason for US & allies to invade Iraq & he was captured on 13th December 2003 why did the US remain in Iraq?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ A recent study by the Center for Public Integrity, top Bush Administration officials told at least 935 lies about Iraq on 532 separate occasions. These included 259 lies by Bush, 254 lies by Secretary of State Colin Powell, 109 lies by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, 109 lies by Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, 56 lies by National Security Advisor Condi Rice, and 48 lies by Vice President Cheney.

US has failed to resettle the Iraqi IDPs

Despite the capture of Saddam in December 2003, 200,000 IraqiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s were displaced in 2003-2005. Since February 2006, an additional 1,552,003 million Iraqis have been displaced. If the ouster of Saddam was the main objective & with him captured what has delayed US & allies from taking care of the internally displaced, resettling them? There are close to 4million IraqiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s displaced today & the displaced figures are ironically rising since 2003 (2million displaced inside Iraq & 2million Iraqis living as refugees in other countries). Why has the US & allies not paid attention to the resettlement of these innocent Iraqi people? Mr. Blake are you aware that these 2million internally displaced have no incomes to rely on and are running out of coping mechanisms & the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-saviorsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ seem not to care? According to the United Nations ChildrenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Fund (UNICEF), 70 per cent of IDPs are women and children Results from a recent Oxfam survey of donors show that 2006 funding for humanitarian assistance fell alarmingly to $95m despite the evident increase in need. Has the US & allies forgotten The Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement44 presented to the UN in 1998 describe the rights of the internally displaced at all stages of their displacement, right up to their safe return or resettlement, and also cover the prevention of displacement. Sri Lanka has certainly not for after following foreign advice for almost 30 years giving a terrorist organization more chances than any other country would ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” with innumerable ceasefires, peace negotiations & even foreign trips not only did Sri Lanka eliminate a terrorist organization within 3 years, Sri Lanka has within 2 years resettled practically all of the 294,000 IDPs except around 3000 who apparently prefer to enjoy free meals, accommodation & other facilities afforded by the Government without going & starting life afresh.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ However, it is poignant that the US & allies first attend to completing the promise given to the people of Iraq that the US & allies would rid Iraq of their dictator & deliver normalcy & democracy to Iraq but in reality what have the US & allies given to the Iraqis?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Of the four million Iraqis who are dependent on food assistance, only 60 per cent currently have access to rations through the government-run Public Distribution System (PDS), down from 96 per cent in 2004.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Forty-three per cent of Iraqis suffer from ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”absolute poverty ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” half the population are said to be without work. It is believed that the money have no other option but to take to prostitution exactly as what is happening in Kosovo. Female trafficking has become a lucrative business many virgin teenage girls are sold for around 5,000 dollars, and trafficked to destinations like northern Iraq, Syria and the United Arab Emirates. The estimated child prostitutes are around the 50,000 figure & they are as young as 13 years.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Mr. Blake are you aware that child malnutrition rates have risen from 19 % before the US-led invasion in 2003 to 28 %. More than 11 per cent of newborn babies were born underweight in 2006, compared with 4 per cent in 2003. Of the 180 hospitals countrywide, 90 per cent lack key resources including basic medical and surgical supplies

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The number of Iraqis without access to adequate water supplies has risen from 50 per cent to 70 per cent since 2003. There is a massive brain drain ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” 40% of doctors, medical staff, teachers, engineers & other professionals have all fled IraqƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦why should they when Iraq is now free of their dictator SaddamƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦? One survey found that 92 per cent of children had learning impediments that are largely attributable to the current climate of fear. Over 800,000 children may now be out of school, according to a recent estimate by Save the Children UK ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” up from 600,000 in 2004.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Yet with foreign armies in Iraq & so many NGOs ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” a good question to ask is what are they all doing? Prior to 2003 there were only a handful of NGOs operating in Iraq today there are over 11,000 NGOs (The ministry of civil society estimates that only around 3000 of these are registered & legitimate) The same scenario exists in Sri Lanka.

It is believed that IraqƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s oil prompted the concocted invasion in Iraq. Halliburton (its subsidiary Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR), formerly headed by the US Vice President Dick Cheney has been awarded the USD18bilion military and oil service contracts.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Treatment of prisoners

Guantanamo Bay & Diego Garcia are just a few of the known prisons in which the US keeps prisoners. They do not have rights. They are detained indefinitely without charge or trial most of them scooped from a foreign country & taken on private planes across the oceans & brought to these prisons unknown to anyone. The US government claims they can neither be released nor prosecuted. There are 3000 such ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-suspectedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ terrorists. Rape, sodomy with foreign objects, the use of unmuzzled dogs to bite and severely injure prisoners, and beating prisoners to death have been documented at Abu Ghraib. Women beg their families to smuggle poison into the prisons so they could kill themselves because of the humiliation they suffered.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Mr. Blake have the US forgotten that it has ratified the CAT Treaty ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. Torture, inhuman treatment, and willful killing are grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions treaties ratified by the United States. Grave breaches of Geneva are considered war crimes under the U.S. War Crimes Act of 1996. American nationals who commit war crimes abroad can receive life in prison, or even the death penalty if the victim dies. But we know that some Americans denounces the tortures & cruelty the US government is involved in – 300 lawyers, retired judges, and law professors (including this writer), a former FBI director, an ex-Attorney General, and seven past presidents of the American Bar Association signed one such memo. Afterall there was no war in Iraq ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” it was only invaded on a false allegation ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Saddam was no terrorist ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” he was earlier a CIA agent just like Osama bin Laden. The American media has managed to keep these facts away from the American public & America remains a nation hypnotized into believing lies.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In a country that boasts of equality, freedom & human rights ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” what can you say about 1200 Arabs, Muslims, South Asians being rounded up following 9/11 clearly racial profiling. A report compiled by the Dept of Justices Office of the Inspector General into allegations of physical & verbal abuse on non-citizen prisoners by the Federal Bureau of Prisons found that several Metropolitan Detention Center staff had slammed and bounced detainees into the walls, twisted or bent their arms, hands, wrists, or fingers, pulled their thumbs back, tripped them, and dragged them on the floor & verbally abused them. How could such happen in the freest country called America?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Contrast this with Sri Lanka. Yes, we had a movement called the LTTE ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” it was not a group fighting against the Sinhalese this can be clearly proven in the scores of Tamils that the LTTE killed starting off with the Jaffna Mayor ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Duraiappah, including scores of Tamil politicians, teachers, clergy including Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadiragamar. By killing these moderate thinking Tamil politicians the LTTE managed to scare the life of the other Tamil politicians who had no other choice but to parrot what the LTTE wanted to save their lives. Moreover, LTTE was a unit that actually kidnapped the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-separatistƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ theme from the ITAK political party (Illankai Tamil Arassu Katchchi formed in the 1940s promoting separatist state in Sri Lanka) LTTE was given oxygen by our own neighbor India & a country now pretending to be our friend & thinking Sri Lankans will forget 30 years of terror activated & promoted by India! If Sri Lanka cannot assert its sovereignty alone, India should never be an option ever. We will not forget or forgive India & whatever forms of diplomatic & economic ties India wishes to establish the majority people will never forget the India-LTTE links. We are not naƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚¯ve to buy the India changed after Rajiv Gandhi death excuse ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Rajiv died in 1991, over 20 years ago. India had the power & ability to help Sri Lanka eliminate the LTTE no sooner Rajiv died ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” that India didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t & preferred to use the LTTE against Sri Lanka shows Sri Lanka that India can never be trusted.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The LTTE collapse came in May 2009 ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the army captured LTTE troops while others gave themselves up in an unprecedented humanitarian rescue operation that on account of its magnanimity Western nations stand shocked & their defense is to only point shortcomings above the magnanimity of that rescue operation. All the while if killing or orders to kill was the prerogative why would Sri Lankan governmental soldiers sacrifice their own lives when they could have easily shot dead every one in sight. Why would they remotely undergo hardships to literary carry women, children & men to safety on the ground as well as through the marshy lagoon?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Sri Lankan government has spent USD2.5b on rehabilitation. 11,700 LTTE cadres surrenderedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦if there had been orders to kill would they have been alive? Of this number 7969 have been released, 2879, are being rehabilitated in camps. That rehabilitation covers mason skills, handicraft work and paintings as well as vocational, language and communication training to improve their skills and their educational knowledge. What did the LTTE teach them ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” only to kill. In 2010 within a year after the victory of the LTTE 400 rehabilitated female LTTE cadres received employment at a garment factory. In 2011 One hundred and eight former members of LTTE sat for the GCE Advanced Level examination while over 50% of rehabilitated ex-combatants had successfully completed the GCE Ordinary Level in 2010. Last month (August 2011) 152 former LTTE cadres who had undergone rehabilitation were handed over to their families at the Vavuniya Cultural Center. It was in 2010 that over 100 former LTTE cadres were given marriage in a wedding ceremony organized by the Sri Lanka Army. While all efforts are being taken by Sri Lanka to rehabilitate men, women & children who were made into killers by a terror outfit called the LTTE helped by foreign governments & clandestine operators, LTTE cadres who escaped from Sri Lanka are being rounded up in an attempt to resurrect a now dead movement ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” ironically Tamil Nadu resurfaces as its training base.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The future of this ambitious plan lies in the hands of the Tamil people who need to seriously ask themselves if they are Sri Lankans or Indians. Indians in particular Tamil Nadu may liken the Tamils in Sri Lanka as part of their own but of late the issues rising as a result of Indian fishermen coming into Sri Lankan waters does not show much affinity towards their own people. Fishing is the livelihood of Sri Lankan Tamils & Tamil Nadu fishermen forcibly coming into fish on Sri Lankan shores are doing more harm than good to their own people. Moreover, if Tamils think that India has answers to their problems it would be prudent for India to offer them Indian citizenship. There is no point living in Sri Lanka if their heart is in India.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ While we are on the same topic it is good to remind the Tamil politicians that they should apply for citizenship first if they feel they need to rush all the time to India for advice on how they should bargain with the Sri Lankan government! If discrimination is the tagline used, it is good for the West to go through perhaps over 200 flats & condominiums built by Tamils & ask if they will rent them out to Sinhalese & openly they will say they rent to only Tamils! This may not be discrimination against the Sinhalese to the West! Yet we seem to be eager to ask Diaspora to come & help ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” this is the same Diaspora that wanted their Tamil people to take to arms instead of going to study & becoming somebody in life while their own children attended foreign schools & worked abroad.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Our President made Sri Lanka a promise ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” to get rid of terrorism in Sri Lanka. He braved the storms that came from diplomatic fronts to provide that freedom. Today, no one can deny that the country is free of bombs & suicide missions. This is what all Sri Lankans wanted & what we were delivered. Taking care of the other ills is left to us the citizens. Where were the world leaders when the LTTE struck on innocent men, women & children through 30 years? We needed more than just diplomatic statements of sympathy following such bombings. The West takes no share in the liberty that we are now enjoying & all we can ask is that the countries that the West has invaded should not be penalized any further. They are all innocent people.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ US & allies promised the end of a dictator in Iraq in 2003. 8 years on the Iraqi people are far worse when Saddam was ruling & the US economy is in total ruin. Trillions in debt can the US literally ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-affordƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ to dictate to others? The costs of these trips can best be put to the kitty to rescue the US from debt!

  1. PRIYAN WIJEYERATNE Says:

GOSL needs to be very careful in dealing with India, Tamil politicians (LTTE) and the West. They are all enemies of SL. But SL cannot exist without them. So it is going to be a very difficult balancing act. The enemy will always try to create trouble within the country, like they did by supporting Gonseka. There will be many more Gonsekas on the way to prosperity of our Nation.

  2. gdesilva Says:

Isn’t there a non-government organisation which can invite some one like John Perkins, ex CIA Agent – http://www.johnperkins.org/, to give a public talk to coincide with the visit of Robert O’Blake? I think this would be the best way to counter the effects of the proposed visit by O’Blake – expose the truth and the criminals will back off. People like O’Blake can only be successful as long as they can have the control of WMDs – Weapons of Mass Deception – so the only way to effectively deal with this menace is to expose the truth about CIAs activities around the world so that Sri Lankan will have a better appreciation of what is in store for them if they trust O’Blake, Butenis etc.

  3. A. Sooriarachi Says:

This is an excellent study of the crimes committed by the Western Nations and the seathly silence of the so called human rights groups the AI, HRW and ICJ.

If Shenali Waduge could get a sponsor to publish this in the form of a little leafelet with Robert Blake’s photo on the cover, it would be so much more effective to expose these nothing better to do hypocrits with self elevated egos, for their bogus concern for human rights.
Also unlike this web page which though extremely useful for communication, but will be forgotten in a week or so, a printed leaflet of this article, could save this report for prosterity and make it available even in the future months and years, to those interested in human rights.

  4. geoff Says:

Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya are all worse today than before the war.

US people are still living in fear 10 years after 9/11. What a big joke is this.

  5. ranjit Says:

If the Americans acts like outlaws like in the old western movies killing innocent civillains and destroying poor nations they will live in fear for another 100 years or more. Their own citizens must wake up and tell their Government enough is enough all this bullshituing wars will destroy the reputation of their country and Americans will be hated by every living human being in other countries.

Shenali’s article should be printed and distributed with Blake’s photo as Soori says. Our whole country should protest his visit. He should not be welcomed in our country for being a L.T.T.E stooge and an enemy of our Motherland. We should not worry too much of these hypocrits because their days are numbered because of their evil behaviour. Every American president in their four years time they want to be like a macho man and act like cowboys by shooting innocent targets. Hell with America and Nato white apes.

  6. Susantha Wijesinghe Says:

Shenali ! The BRILLIANCE of this input is very laudable. Reflects an insatiable appetite to put pen onto paper.

Hope somebody will print it out, and hand it over to O’ BLARNEY O’ BLAKE at the Airport. Also, he should be given a BLACK FLAG welcome at the Airport.

  7. jayt Says:

Here is my comment: Before I start it I want tell the world please don’t miss interpret my comment. I personally have nothing against Jews, American, British, Indian and Western public in general. As I am Canadian or as I am Sri lankan, I have right to express my opinion with the facts that’s part of freedom of expression which West claim to value the most.
Freedom of expression almost completely gone from the West except for Yahoo comment board. What is bothering for Yahoo is still all the Yahoo comment makers are not 100% anti-Muslim. That’s something for Yahoo owners to concern.
And also, it is not just Muslim, I bet that if SL pay 1 million dollar to Yahoo, it will not publishes Shanli articles nor about US-Israel partnership in Sri lanka war for than 20 years, if do so, American and other Western public ask, Ha Ha Ha
who is the real war criminals?

The best Solution for this to mix with Western public and attract them. We don’t need to be anti-anybody. We don’t need nuclear weapon if needed have right to acquire though. We do not kill children and women of any race or religion.
We have our own tools from a unique heritage. let’s start do it now , otherwise, our own self destruction will slowly follow with mental and other form of illnesses.
Love is the keyword. Love is the weapon. It won’t fail it is because Sl communities did not try it yet with right mechanism .I am looking forward get this happen

  8. jayt Says:

any comment? I respect other people opinion and will endorse it if it is right one. Don,t give me minus mark. That’s not
complete expression. Without your full expression, We can’t learn from mistake.

  9. jayt Says:

people do mistakes. That’s part of life, non of us are angels.

  10. jayt Says:

I am not against Western or any country make honest friendship with SL at all, but do not like anybody try intervene in SL matters or to drag SL for wars which does not serve the interest of Sl lanka

  11. AnuD Says:

    Priyan Wijerathne blames SF.

A careful political leadership when they comes to the top do lot of cut throat and back stabbing work in order to come to the top. then all the hawks around that country will wait to see where they can find carcasses to feed on.
Present leadership provided all the requirements; made enemies during the ascend, gave remnants of carcasses to those who wanted it. SF just became a pawn. Leadership just used SF and, in turn, did not treat SF well, and thought just to use and discard.

    Now all the blames.

US and France even to date harass their former colonies. US does the same thing to every country. Even, Japan, Korea, India and China did not escape that. We don’t here their stories because we are not interested.

Because of that looking for escape goats such as blaming SF is worth less. Instead have good plans and implement good plans and evaluate those plans.

It is not the same old politics. One just back stab, cut throats and ascend to the top and then start playing havoc their making every other silent. It is not going to work.

Particularly, the fortunes of the western world are dwindling and they started crashing. They do their best to survive and stay at the top post.

When USSR was there they counteracted. But, USSR is not there, China is not taking over that role, no one is there to protect any one.

Sri Lanka is lucky, Our only misfortune is Sri Lanka is majority Buddhist and they don’t believe in a Allmighty god. That is very toxic to middle eastern political religions. Foe example, Sudan became two countries because it had oil and provided that oil to China. Now the next thing in the card seem to be a regime change for the North Sudan. Wait for that.

  12. jayt Says:

But that luck won’t last long if Sinhalese do not get out that small cocoon they are living in right now, become global and get rich and prosperous. This the key to powerhouse in the world.

  13. gamunu6 Says:

    Dear Shenali Waduge!!
I have no idea HOW POWERFUL your research & facts & figures TILL I READ THIS particular article. I AGREE 110%, that your thoughts MUST be published NOT only in Lanka WEB, BUT many US newspapers so that American people will realize the situation of the world today vis – ve -USA.

I am MOT anti- American either but I AM PRO CANADIAN, PRO SRI LANKAN and if I happen to live in USA, I will be there to open our American people’s eyes as to what is going on in their country. A mere 13 Million US $ AID, and that even cannot be granted to Sri Lanka, because of Sri Lankan HUMAN RIGHTS RECORD. What a load of ….XX, please keep your paultry USD13MM… our own 22 (last count )MILLIONERS if they decide can muster every effort & total that amount & more just to make a point to US hipocracy.

Remember in 1976 and just after when Sri lanka nationalised UK & US oil companies. They cut off aid, but COUNTRY DEVELOPED FASTER, because Sri lankan people had a cause to FIGHT ON. Sure there were food shortages, NOTHING so drastic that we couldn’t handle.

We porspered beacuse people devised many ways to overcome the effects of sanctions. Similar situation is happening in Israel, because they are fighting day & night for just survival. With enemy countries (surrounded by )Arab & Moslem states, they the Govt. of Israel, will NOT rest till Israel is secure.

With respect to your EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT article, you must be honoured by granting a KNIGHTHOOD, even though in Sri Lanka, we don’t have that. I am sure our Malwatta & Asgiriya Budddhist leaders will find an appropritae title for this EXCELLENT feature. They conferred titles to Minister of Information .. Mr. Rambukwella amd many others. I strongly feel that you deserve much more for educating the masses & most probably US citizenery as well by this article.

It is high time your influential friends, take this as a priority and PUBLISH THIS SPECIAL article in US newspapers evne IF THAT COSTS US MONEY.

We still have FREEDOM OF SPEACH.. in Sri lanka & in the USA. As many of the readers have suggested WE MUST BAND together and make sure this project will be successful. I am sure most general public ARE NOT FULLY aware of the gravity of the situation US GOVT, people, Businesses, and other stake holders are in. Their own AGENCY, STANDARD & POOR downgraded the Country.

This means a lot to CONFIDENCE of the communities & foreign countries who deal with USA. Its detrimental BUT CANADA was faced with that situation about 10 years ago & pulled through remarkably well. TODAY Canada is fine example where banking sector is concerned.

NOT a single bank went bankrupt but continued to prosper under very difficult circumstances. Individuals like, Rober Blake, Former British Foregn Secretary MILLBAND & FRENCH Foreign minister, should keep OUT & not interfere with a duly elected Sovereign country & its internal affairs. They should find some activities to keep them occupied.

Their interference & STILL ballantly supporting LTTE & its sprawling organizations in US, UK & EU have made it so difficult for Sri lanka to FIGHT the enemy in different forms, names of organizations they branch into, so that their DISGUISED leaders, who commit crimes STILL under the pretence of helping their own people.

I can go on and on about how they enjoy so much even after the defeat, & according to US GOVT. the organization & its umbrella groups are fully functional, organized more than ever to pounce Sri Lanka again.

We have to be very vigilant about their motives. This article has given so much insight for us to organize & publicize the effects of terrorism in all ITS FORMS.

Please take this REQUEST seriously & publish this artcle of yours which is very commendable in USA newspapers, TV & other freedom loving peoples organizations.

Thank you so much for this valuable contribution. As a retired Engineer in Canada, I can do very little, BUT supprt people like SHENALI WADUGE for this brilliant, thought provoking article.

Looking forward to hearing from you regarding similar issues Sri lanka faces in the near future. Thanks again Shenali! may Noble Triple Gems guide, & protect you from all evils. MAY GOD BLESS!!………Gamunu Alahakkone, P.Eng Canada, C.Eng UK, Retired Engineer~ CANADA

  14. Lorenzo Says:

    Jayt,

Bring peace in western societies? Are you nuts? What for?

There are two groups involved in the western initiated wars.

    1. USA and its allies including NATO, etc. (and their supporters)
    2. Al Qaeda, Jihad, etc. and their supporters.

BOTH these groups pose a threat to SL! I repeat BOTH these groups are a threat to SL so we should NEVER stop them killing each other. We should encourage these groups to go at each other without stopping. That will keep them engaged.

The problem is NOT USA killing, etc. people in the Middle East, etc., but they playing a double game with us. That is OUR problem which we must resolve. If they stop their wars, we will not even have the little propaganda ammunition we have today! Let them do their wars in Afghan, Paki, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, Indonesia, etc. Let them suffer the consequences too.

If you are living in Canada you should know the general public sentiment not just among the whites but also among Indians, Chinese, Eastern Europeans and other large immigrant groups. They share same views as FBI, CIA, etc on Middle East terrorists. So your plan will not work.

This is the practical approach. Let them fight forever. Anyway they have been fighting since the 6th century, aren’t they? I don’t think they will stop. We should protect our interests from both of them.

  15. jayt Says:

I wish everybody the same. if you talk about peace, it should happen to Jew, Palestine, Indian, Chinese, Arabs or Muslim and Tamil and Sinhalese. And if there is peace in between Jews and Palestine then it will go into many part of the world and I do not believe, it will happen. Same thing with India, there will never be peace in India. Tamil and Sinhalese peace already there but I do not know what way LTTE choose. They looking for govt to admit civilian deaths then Ltte have to admit their part. If this happen, then it is fair and can forgive and get.

  16. Lorenzo Says:

    Jayt,

I’m not against your ideal situation. It is very good. Like you, I too don’t believe it will EVER happen. That is the problem.

So the next best thing is to play by the laws of this selfish world to save OUR interests.

Look from the SL point of view. If there was no war on terror, we could never have got the LTTE to sign the CFA or kill them all. We rode the war on terror tide and finished them off. But we are against this stupid war on terror of theirs which is all about killing civilians and destabilizing other countries. They talk one thing and do another; so do we! We too can play this game. This is the right thing to do.

  17. Cerberus Says:

Shenali, Thank you for a courageous piece of writing and excellent research. You are becoming one of our best writers. Keep it up.
