O Blake! Leave us alone!

As per media reports, the United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs RobertƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  O. Blake, is scheduledƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to visit Sri Lanka and India this week. It is said that he will meet with government officials, civil society representatives, university students and political leaders while in Sri Lanka.

BlakeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s proposed intention to meet university students, this time, in addition to civil society representatives and politicians is an indication that the US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”AffairsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ has not given up his habit of interfering in the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”internal affairsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ of our country for not full filling, what appears as, his personal desires.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  What are the affairs of the United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs having with the university students of Sri Lanka?

There is no need to introduce the political leaders he intends to meet here, since the aim of both parties involved in these discussions are well known to us.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The so-called civil society representatives identified by westerners and expected to be seen by Blake during his visit, as we know, are few infamous NGOƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s who are funded by themselves, the west.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The activities of those NGOƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s were well known and we have not forgotten the role played by them to divide the country on ethnic lines and to prolong the war against terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Now that the chances of dividing the Sri Lanka on ethnic lines by military means are no more, the slogans of those privileged foreign funded parties are ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”political solutionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ and ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”war crimes probeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

What are BlakeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s and his so-called civil society representativeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s contributions to achieve peace and freedom in Sri Lanka that we are enjoying today? There are many other organisations, societies and individuals in Sri Lanka who are genuinely committed to the interests of our citizens in Sri Lanka who are not funded by the west.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Is he going to meet at least one of them and listen to their opinion?

The general consensus among the majority of the peace loving Sri Lankans today is that the partiality of the role of Blake has now reached to an unbearable level. According to an opinion survey conducted in April this year by Gallup, and as reported in The Daily News, United States which has been one of the more vocal critics of the Sri Lankan government has lost favour. More than nine out of ten Sri Lankans surveyed say they approve of President RajapaksaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ s leadership, as they have since the war against terrorism ended in 2009.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The partiality of Blake since he assumed the role of Ambassador in Colombo was evident. We all remember how the US embassy in Colombo attempted to save the lives of the LTTE carders and their leaders, during the final days of humanitarian operation of our security forces, by calling terrorists to surrender to a third party and asking the Sri Lanka government to allow a UN humanitarian team into the no-fire zone.

The Statements issued by Blake since he was known to Sri Lankan community, almost one after the other concerning the internal matters of our country, and reported visits and secret visits said to have been made to meet the opponents of the democratically elected government to discuss ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”undisclosedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ matters related to internal politics of the host country are typical examples of his extent of confusion over the limits of control of specific territories. There were media reports to support the claim that the US State department has had organised meetings with US based Tamil Diaspora groups, who are pro LTTE activists.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

What would be the situation today if the Sri Lanka government followed his directions in the past? How many bullets, and hence lives, were saved since May 2009 by not fulfilling his way of solving our problems?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Who will ultimately gain by the use of more and more arms and ammunitions?

The government had resettled nearly 300,000 displaced people, carried out de-mining, rehabilitation of former Tamil Tiger fighters and held democratic elections in the former war zone. The government also released its own documentary highlighting the false claims made by British Channel-4 featuring interviews from former LTTE cadres, eyewitnesses of the final stages of the war which challenged the U.N.-sponsored reportƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s findings and argued the military used only the necessary force required to defeat a well-armed enemy.

As the Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa quite rightly pointed out at a forum organised by the Federation of National Organisation last month, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-No matter what we do, there is no end to these allegations. There is a hidden agenda behind these allegations. Their main requirement is to change the president and the government who are not fulfilling their desires,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

In spite of his peers in Washington continuing draconian laws such as patriot act that grants sweeping powers to the US law enforcement and intelligence gathering authorities to do almost anything they like not just in the US but all over the world for almost a decade in the US, Robert O, Blake Jr is coming to Sri Lanka belatedly to preach us on good governance and democracy.

Blake’s true motive is no secret to us; he wanted to help out rump LTTE and their backers to inch towards Eelam. So, we may listen to the gibberish of the tall framed hypocrite but must tell him clearly that if mighty US chose to retain its Patriot Act to suppress Muslim extremists, Sri Lanka too would bring about new laws to confront rump LTTE that lurks in the shades of Vanni.

What the Defence Secretary has mentioned is spot on. Make Ranil the President today and tomorrow the West and the CIA front offices like HRW, AI etc will change its current chorus about human rights, corruption etc and give glowing reports about Sri Lanka. They will say that the Paradise is regained -but of course it will be a paradise for them and their cronies not for those who are living in Sri Lanka. They are simply trying to punish and subjugate people of Sri Lanka for electing a person who does not lick their boots – that’s all there to it, nothing new this has been happening for the last 500 or so years.

Bring it on O’Blake – you might have a few surprises this time around.

    Dear S. Akurugoda!

I agree with you 100%. We have been coached, harassed, threatened with sanctions, twanted to take our beloved President Dr.Mahinda Rajapaksa to gallows (as the honoured president said over & over again, with approval of 94% after the war ended, to 91% in the recent Gallup poll).

How dare an outsider from NOWHERE come too our country as he pleases, and subjugate our people, even the person of highest integrity, our president that way.

Is there an end to this madness. Are we chicken that we are so scared of International community who supported & nutured (mainly INDIA).. now trying to be friends with us.

The American Conglomerate DOLE FRUIT company has somehow managed to get slice of SINHARAJA (LION KING) FOREST & gradually cleaning the place for their factories. When cCnada wanted to send in tractors, bulldozers to Sinharaja Forest we vehemently opposed it.

How did Amreicans creep in & distroy the environmental JEWEL of Sri Lanka. I wish good learned people like you should WRITE ,expose these tyrants who come here DIGUISING as assisting Sri lanka, all the time making enermous profits, and leave the country in a very poor state, economically & ennviromentally.

Somebody reading this specially from WEST, will automatically think that I AM ANTI-AMERICAN.. NO I AM NOT.,, I am PRO SRI LANKAN, although I live & work in Canada. If anybody talks to an American that person will defend his/her country EVEN if it is INDEFENSABLE. They rally around the FLAG, and say we are Americans and so on & on.. I don’t have to spell out the details. Because we all know how PATRITIC they are.

But please DO NOT I am referring to the WEST & in particular to INDIA, take us for granted. We do NOT want our valuable resources EATEN away by power hungry, money garbbing International Community. Forget about aid, give us equal oppotunity in TRADE, give us decent value for our products we EXPORT.

DO NOT NEED any handouts. Our history says so, when it comes to PUSH, we PISH BACK HARDER. Thanks very much for your vakuable cntribution S. Athrugoda and expect more valuable articles from you regarding these intruders & their ulterior motives. IF I live in America, I would still point out the defects of the American system, BUT SUPPORT that country from WITHIN.

Many thanks again…Gamunu Alahakkone. P. Eng (Canada), C.Eng UK, Retired Engineeri n Canada- A Patriotic Sri lankan

I heard, US – Helicopter came to KIA without any request or without anyknowledge of the GOSL to save LTTE Leaders. It looks like all these human rights and war crimes are because they coukd not save LTTE.

I think, General Fonseka too must reconsider his political affiliations now.

  5. dhane Says:

  7. ranjith Says:

At this time, we should be more vigilant than before.

We should approach Blake with conciliatory strategy rather than confrontation which leads to detrimental to our nation.

  8. jayt Says:

gdesilva is right. This is the whole case. I thought originally there for friendship and businesses in the other hand I felt very suspicious about them. There are not just looking for friendship and businesses. They want to bring Middleast war into Sri lanka. If you have Israel in Sri lanka is fine, then both side is there. BUT the West do not want to give Palestine their freedom in their own country. This is the people who talk about freedom and human rights. And global wars are part of this and it is not just that they tried several time to get Sri lanka to get involved their wars.

As a part of it to achieve their goal, they go to India almost everyday and set them Against Sri lanka to frighten and make Sinhalese agree to whatever they ask for. They got to Communist, Christs, women org.,Tamil Nadu MPs, Tamil actors, Indian news papers in India. And then They go to Communist, some Muslim MPs Sri lanka and they all set to ask 13 amendment.
In the West, They say to public they fight Muslim and Muslim are evils.
If anybody investigate refugee centers, AL offices and other NGO offices in North America and Europe, you will find Muslim rebels from deference nationalities from around the globe which they keep hiding to Western public as well as to whole world.
if anybody want to investigate this please bring a video camera with you, that’s way nobody can deny it.
This is the whole reason I stop trusting them and asked SL communities to build communities to become powerful economically where you can by people and news media and politician too.
