ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Dear Sir:
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It is about time that the GOSL paid attention to the increasing attacks on Sri Lanka being voiced by western politicians at the behest of expatriate TamilsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ who supported the LTTE and after the elimination of the LTTE hierarchy continue their goal of dividing Sri Lanka. Instead of financing the bombs and guns to kill Sri LankansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and achieve Eelam they are now pouring theirƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ millions into political parties to get the governments of these western countries to harass Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The current government of Canada led by the Conservative PartyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ was the only political party that did not openly support fundraising and provide political support to LTTE sympathizers in Canada. However, they too have abandoned whatever principles they had and are now for sale to any group that funds them and promises votes.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The Canadian Government is no different to that of the U.S., Britain, Australia and the E.U. countries where the left over rump of the LTTE continues to be very active using the western political system which is known to be “open” to lobbyists and providingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ favoursƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ for money. In the U.S. it was established in the courts that Raj Rajaratnam funded the Democrats, the Republicans as well as the LTTE. In the U.K. Wikileaks provided the information that David Milliband had admitted that he spent sixty percent of his time on Sri Lankan issues (against Sri Lanka) to try to getƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Tamil votes in marginal constituencies.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is the same in Canada, Australia and the European countries.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  These countriesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ who call themselves the “international community” are still governed by the colonial belief that they know what is best for the world and can dictate to those who they disagree with.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In the case of Sri Lanka the “west” believesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that they can kick it aroundƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ because it is a small country. It is time that Sri Lanka advised them that these Tamils who are pressuring them to harass Sri Lanka are not citizens of Sri Lanka, do not vote in Sri Lanka and so have no say in what happens in Sri Lanka. It is for the citizens of Sri Lanka to decide who governs themƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and dictates policy in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The Canadian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, following Canadian policy, calls for accountability from Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The government of Sri Lanka should ask him to have Canada be accountable for the terrorism that was funded and promoted from Canada because funding terrorism is a crime. Who in Canada and the other countries can be held accountable? TheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ leaders of the LTTE who are still operating from these western countries, raising funds, establishing transnational governments of Eelam andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ openly defying the laws of the countries they live in.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ TheƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ politicians who support theseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ LTTE activists and are now their spokespersons in the international arena are also guilty of supporting terrorism which is a crime.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
According to Canadian media the Harper government has joined the U.S. in pressing Sri Lanka on human rights. The problemƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is that CanadaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ itself has been faulted for its human rights violations against it’s own native people. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Further, CanadaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has failed to implement the recommendations of the UN human rights bodiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  regarding it’s indigenous peoples.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is trying to use the UN forum to pressure Sri Lanka but ignores the UNƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with regard to it’s own human rights violations.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Also, the media states thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Canada gave $200 million in aid since 2006. Was this aidƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ conditional when it was givenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ or isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ thisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a classicƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ example of aid with strings attached although for Sri Lanka it is not so much “strings” but a cudgel.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
It should interest Sri Lanka to note that Mr. Baird met with representatives of LTTE supporters before he went to the UN. According to the media he has “made the campaign (against Sri Lanka) a priority, taking up the cudgel in a UN speech last week, in talks with foreign counterparts and Sri Lankan officials”. It is Canadian politics that he is acting out at the UN, not any interest in the people of Sri Lanka or their future. Perhaps at the next meeting with the Canadian Ambassador in Colombo he should be askedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ whether he is representing only the Tamil Canadians when he “attacks” Sri Lanka because the majority of Canadians do notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ agree or support the Tamils who sympathize with terrorism. The same applies to the U.S., U.K., E.U. and Australia who are the “international community” badgering Sri Lanka at the U.N. The worst aspect of this is that this same “international community” is bombing, murdering, torturing, committing every possible war crime and violation of rights in many parts of the world in their phoney war on terrorism but support terrorism in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Their duplicity is manifest in thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ they use the UN to badger Sri Lanka but discard the UN when it comes to their own violations.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Mr. Baird should be advised not make policy towards Sri Lanka based on 100,000 Tamil votes in the Toronto area particularly when they are Canadian citizens, not Sri Lankan citizens.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It should be stressed that only citizens of Sri Lanka have the right to make policy for themselves in Sri Lanka. Canada and the other countries in the west should be advised that their citizens have no right to violate the rights of the people of Sri Lanka, that their domestic politics should not be at the expense of Sri Lankans who have nothing to do with whether they win elections or not.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Yours truly,
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

  1. Ratanapala Says:

Those in places of responsibility should investigate the Catholic Church – Canadian Government connection to understand the reason why now both the Conservatives and Liberals politicians are behind the rump of the LTTE in Canada.

  2. AnuD Says:

That is how the bible says. God is supreme and God has the right to manipulate and exploit the outcome of lives of humans and beings & things below him. So do the humans who believe that concept. They know what is best for those supposedly live “under them”.

So, if they exploit natives, abuse blacks and south asians that is right. But, anyone else kills even a terrorist that is a human right violation.

I think the catholic Church and the people believe in the Old Testament cooperate each other.
