ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Dear Sir:
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
I refer to the news report on October 23,2011 regarding Mr. John Baird`s statement regarding Canada’s policy on Libya and Canada’s support for the rule of law.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I assume that Mr. Baird expresses the attitude of the Canadian Government. Why is it that Mr. BairdƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and the Canadian GovernmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ seem to have different attitudes regarding policy and the rule of law for different countries?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
In the case of Libya he states that his first thought is with the Libyan people, not with their former dictator. This thought is echoed in his statement “we also support the people of Libya who have finally broken the yoke of a dictator and are moving forward”. Contrast that with his latest statements regarding Sri Lanka and it’s people. In the case of Sri Lanka, not just his first thought but two years after the end of the dictatorship of the Tamil terrorist leader, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ hisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ thoughts regarding the end of terrorism and the liberation of twenty-two million people from the continuous terrorist attacks ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ thirty years is that Sri Lanka should be investigated for war crimes,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a thought dictatedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ those in the Tamil diaspora in Canada who supported and funded Tamil terrorism from Canada and still want to divide Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ His thoughts appear to beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ not based on any principles such as the rule of law andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ supportingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ terrorism from Canada but just how to getƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ votes for the ConservativesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ at elections.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ He ignores the fact that these votes that he is seeking are from Canadian citizens and that the people of Sri Lanka should not be paying a price based on domestic Canadian politics. Further, he wants to help the people of Libya to move forward but has no thought for the people of Sri Lanka who broke the yoke of a fascist dictator,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the leader of the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world and need not criticism but help to move forward with a reconciliation process.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Also, if as he claims, Canada supports the rule of law and that it is something that is tremendously important, why does he not make a start in Canada and condemn rather than support the continued efforts by the Tamil terrorist sympathisers in Canada.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Should he not base his statements and policies on Canadian lawƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which is supposed to not tolerate terrorism from Canada?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
Yours truly,
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
