Modernisation of world by the West has brought it to brink of disaster. Violation of Human rights is another aspect of it.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ PART ONE

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The west had invented Human Rights after the second world war, and today they are ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ turning it into ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the worst ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  all ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-armsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ keep ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ powerless ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ poor nations poorer and remain dependent on the powerful.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Assistant Secretary for Central ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and South Asia of US State Department Robert O BlakeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  said in Sri Lanka ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- US will support a resolution against Sri Lanka at the forthcoming UN Human Rights Council sessions in Geneva, as the Rajapaksa administration has not done enough to address accountability issues.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This statement of Robert O Blake isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  arrogant , pretentious like the pompousƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  words of a world dictatorƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  who has the god given right to evaluate other governmentsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  making derogatory remarks as the government leaders of other nations are his servitors

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ To see the farce that the West continues to enact pretending it is for the welfare of our people in Sri Lanka ( as much as elsewhere in the developingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  countries of the world- Maldive for instance where Robert O Blake seems to have had some hand), let us see how the West had from the beginning of not too ancient time, done things they thought were to moderniseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the world, butƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have instead brought the world to the brink of disaster and extinction.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We are made to believe that the West modernised the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  From the low explosive black powder they discovered from China,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the West invented the gun.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ChinaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  had discovered black powder in the 9 th Century , but used it as fireworksƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  even to chase the Mongolian invaders .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It was only in the 18 Century the West discovered it andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  turned ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it into high explosive gun powder.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The West invented the Gun.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Then Nobel invented the explosive dynamite, and then America invented the Atomic bomb on ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ a proposal of Einstein in what was called the Manhatton project which commenced in 1939.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The first nuclear weaponƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of the project Trinity was tested on the 16 July,1945 in Almagordo in Mexico.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Eight days after Harry S. Truman had informed Soviet Russia its nuclear capability and thirteen days after,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the first nuclear bombƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ little boyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ was dropped in Hiroshima, and three days after the next bomb , the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-fat manƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ was dropped in Nagasaki.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What wonderful contributions the West gave for the development of the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The West made loads of money producing guns and bombs of all sortsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and selling them to poor countries with which they began to shoot each other.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Along with the guns came alcoholic drinks they had also invented.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They sold alcohol to American Indians until they drank themselves almost to extinction.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The West then discovered China. China was rich under Qing Dynasty. China opened only one port for the British traders.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ China had more to sellƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to British East India Company than they had to sell to China. As China accepted only silver in payment , the British East India company had to sell their gold to buy silver from elsewhere , hence the British East India wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  running a trade imbalance in favour of China. In order to set off that imbalance British East India CompanyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  along with the American tradersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  broughtƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  OpiumƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  from British IndiaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and sold it to Chinese Smugglers.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ This resulted in the drain of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Chinese silver and an increase in drug addiction. China passed laws to stop trade in opium.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It was the beginning of the Opium Wars inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  1839.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The British and the French seized Beijing burnt down Chinese palaces and weakenedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  China which was forced to accept their treaties on their terms and agree to more concessions to British and French traders.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That is how the West contributed to modernise the world ,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  talk democracy , began human rights, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  demanded accountability to imagined crimes of developing nations. All that contributed to the destruction of some nations and raising others to world leadership.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the WestƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  todayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the BBC, Sky WayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  TV documentaries onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  developingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  countries, show the negative side of life in the developing countries , their utter poverty, unclean sickly children, slums and dirt in which some of them live or conflict areas, manifestations, anti government violence,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  or critical government activity.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Never do they show development and progress taking place in these countries despite attempts of the developed countries to keep them poor through political strategies they invent such as human rights,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  sale of guns to encourage tribal or clan warfare, without helping these countries to develop by transfer of technology, or offering unconditional aid. Despite all that they dare accuse these countries for human rights violations.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If their condition of living is a violation of human rights the rich West is directly or indirectly responsible.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ More than 4000 years ago asphalt derived fromƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  petroleum had been used to build the walls of the towers ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Babylon.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  There were oil pitsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and the oil was used to light lamps. The Persians and in the 9th century producedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  kerosene oilƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  with which they lit their lamps. and lived happily. In 347 AD China drilled oil wells.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They used the oil to heat salty waters to produce salt.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  China also used natural gas .

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That was all before America discovered oil somewhere in the 19th century .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The West ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ discovered the combustion engines.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Then began producing mechanical engines of all sorts, cars, buses, planes, and ships all in the name of modernising , but began polluting the world , the air, the skies, and the seas.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The West with their inventions have overheated the earth, polluted the air and poisoned the seas andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have brought the world to the brink of a catastrophic extinction.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The ancientƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Egyptians had invented the perfumes and kept their bodies pleasant smelling.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The west discovered it toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  make mixturesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  most expensive, and cheap sprayers to keep the atmosphere clean, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  they polluted the atmosphere until the worlds ozone layers began to give way.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The West imported the Christian teachings and spread it among the poor nations subjugating them andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  making them blind believers of the Western God.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In the ancient world the women walked about half nakedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and they wereƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in complete safety.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The west met the naked beauties of the poor nations raped them and spoke about sex until raping women became a pastime of invading marauders. In the west Sex became a great entertainment , they abused not only gown up women, but boys and girls, until pedophile became the worst from of sexƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  crime in the West.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That is the Western modernising of the world Christian values.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The west introduced Democracy.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This killed peace and stopped development and progress in all poor countries in the world.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The political leaders of the poor developing countries took democratic opposition to ruling government too seriously, which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ resulted in regular confrontations with the government, which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ stopped progress and development, leaving the developing countries poor as they had always been.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ NothingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that had been invented by the West to modernised the world made the world rich, peaceful or civilised.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The latest they have invented is the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Human rights.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Human Rights did not exist as a political arm to subjugate nations. But has now been invented not to protect the human rights of persons to be protected , ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ but it is being used as another ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-armƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ to subjugate nations that rebel against the system introduced by theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  West.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The ancient world did not possess the concept of universal human rights.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Ancient societies had ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-elaborate systems of duties, conceptions of justice, political legitimacy, and human flourishing that sought to realiseƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  human dignity, flourishing, or well-being entirely independent of human rightsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ( Wikipedia)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It sprung from the concept of natural rights.

The application of violation of Human Rights, became a means for the West to bring charges against those countries that do not follow their weird democratic system.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Application ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the term ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-violation of human rights ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is incorrectƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in a war situations, as ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ there are conventions such as the Geneva convention which are moreƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  appropriate .

The application of the term ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-violation of human rights ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- in the precise case of Sri Lanka is irrational , as Sri Lanka had toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  fight almost a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-conventionalƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ army of trained well armed terrorists who even had sea and air power. It wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  not different from a conventional war except that the terrorists were no respecters ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  legal or moral laws.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Being terrorists they did not have to account for any body, and therefore no convention or rules of law could have been applied to them.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If the Geneva Convention cannot be applied to one party to the war for whatever reason, it cannot also be applied to the other. The military operationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  agains the terrorists ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ was like a conventional war , but it was not a conventional war.

The termƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ human rights violationsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ was spoken of in relation to Sri Lanka only after the end ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorism . Before that there was real violation of human rightsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  committed by the terrorists, who killed un-armed poor villagers working in their fields, or religious devotees inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Buddhist temples, orƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  busloads ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  young Buddhist monks in yellow robes going onƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a pilgrimage, ordinaryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  village men and women taking a bus to work, visit relatives or childrenƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  going to school or men and women goingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for shopping in the nearest town, but no one was then there to speak up for the dead, accusing the terrorists for violation of human rights or accuse the terrorists for ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-terror crimesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ( if not war-crimes)

UKChannel 4 is not representative of a UN Member State, but nevertheless the The UN Commissioner of Human rights Navi Pillay having no principles, had even requested the presentation of a document prepared by UK Channel 4, to the Human Rights Council in Geneva last year.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The video footage was fictitiousƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  without any substantiated evidence to support its images and statements as valid.

It was presented ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ merely because it was damaging to Sri Lanka. It is an insult for a UN AgencyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to come down to that low level to accuse a member State, which has done nothing wrongƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  but eliminated a ruthless group of terrorists that had terrorised the country for 30 years.

But how is it that Sri Lanka came to be accused for Violation of Human Rights and War Crimes for the elimination of terrorists at the final phase of a determined military operations to end terrorism from Sri Lanka.

This is how it has come about.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

    Charles,

you approach the real enemy of Sri Lanka and the world. Before 30 years someone who visited Sri Lanka oft
told me that the problems of your country not Tamil or Sinhalese but IMF (International Monetory Fund).
Many Tamils from Sri Lanka wanted to leave the country because of the Money and Employment oppertunities.
Price of s cup of Tea in Western Europe may one day Labour charge in Asia. Who is responsible for
    this discrimination?

In another Incident in a Peace Forum some one explained how some western countries cheat the world and
starting war with other countries. Now the problem Sri Lanka is facing is not between Tamil and sinhalese,
The prolem between East and west or war between Truth & Lie

  2. aloy Says:

    Charles,
These war crimes are a deviation tactic to prevent us from developing, adopted by the TNA and the west. let us not get detracted and stay focused on the development. At the same time Gosl should improve good governance. Let us be like Thailand and Singapore minding our own business. UNHCR consists of 47 members and all of them cannot be fooled by channel four dramas.

  3. Christie Says:

The UN Commissioner of Human rights Navi Pillay having no principles,”

This is the most important sentence in the article.

It clearly states who is attacking the Sinhalese, Moors, Burghers and Malays of the island nation while leaving the Indian colonial parasites of the island; and the Tamil terrorists, the Indian terrorist outfit, and India and Indians all over the world.

Navi Pillay is an Indian colonial parasite (a word I do not like to use but a perfect fit) from Durban, South Africa.

How this Tamil from South Africa does come to terrorize the non-Indians of the island nation.

Her parents or grand parents went to South Africa as sepoys or coolies of the British-Indian Imperialists. They prospered from their host, the black Africa and now come out to fight for the Indian Empire.

There is another Indian colonial parasite from South Africa that is Yasmin Sooka. She is one of the three member panel of the UNSG’s committee who enquired in to alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka (unfortunately it is referred to as Darusman report. It should have been named (A report by a Colonial parasite Ms Yasmin Sooka). These two women have made their professional and financial fortunes from the black South Africans. They were both active in the African national Congress. Yasmin Sooka was a member of the Truth Commission. She was biased against the Zulus during the hearings and in the report.

You might wonder how the Indian colonial parasites (Tamil National Alliance) from the island nation get invited to the recent ANC celebrations.

It is very clear that India, Indian colonial parasites and Non Resident Indians (example: Vijay Nambiar) who want to see the non- Indians disappear from the island nation.

Let us look at some other issues raised in the article. British managed to get a foot hold on the Chinese mainland because they went there with a large contingent of Sikh and other Indian sepoys and coolies. It is the Indians who helped the British with opium trade, not only in China but elsewhere in the British Indian Empire. It is the Indians who sold Opium in Sri Lanka. Most of them are very rich merchants and industrialist in the island today.

Even today it is the Indians who supply drugs to the local drug dealers. These days Indians let the locals keep a bigger share of the proceeds so.

Those who attack the West alone but not the real culprit India do a lot of damage to the non-Indians of the island.

  4. aravinda Says:

With the collapse of the American economy, and with US desire to maintain its living standards, we are heading to the most violent century of human history.

We will see, US waging wars against nations which posses mineral deposits, oil and strategic locations. Sri Lanka is undermined to disrupt sea lanes from Middle East and Africa to Asian nations. Iran is undermined to rob oil. This will be an on going process. We will witness the second “Scramble to Africa” in coming years.

Re-demarcation of Middle East has already started with Iraq Oil grab. If a nation is united, they would withstand these crusades. The nations which are disunited are heading for a century of modern slavery. Just look at the economic conditions imposed on Iraq government by Americans. Iraq is a slave nation for next thirty years.

    Thanks Charles Perera!

Always interesting to read your articles.. It is time to educate the Tamil Poultaion of India & in the west who continue to run to India or USA for a slightest problem in Sri Lanka.

True Indians are parasites. That is why in 50s, 60s, we never recognozed Indian qualifications. They are bogus & some are equivalent to High School Certificate. Every time they have a problem with Tamil nadu, Sri lanka is blamed. Let Tamil Nadu come, just the way we defeated INDIAN backed & nurtured LTTTE, we can defeat them too.

WHY is the West silent about attrocities conducted by IPKF, (Indian peace Keeping.). what a JOKE. Those parasites raped, maimed & treated TAMILS like dogs, according to true reports coming out by the Tamil population in Sri lanka. Where are the Investigations to those malpractices under the guise of Peace Keeping.

Sri Lanka should distroy the INDIAN presence, like the monument erected to mark IPKF jaunts in Sri lanka. West & America got Indian parasites to do their dirty work.

Americans do not want to directly confront Sri Lanka, because our President & majority Sinhalese will put then in their places if taht ever happens. So they ask India to do this work, so that India can get a permanent membership in UNO.

Nobody does anything for nothing. Indias turn will come when USA will come calling for IOUs.

Thanks again Mr. Charles Perera for an interesting contribution. I will sure read ypur next article too….~ Gamunu- Canada

  6. Fran Diaz Says:

    What is Modernisation ?

It is upgrading people’s living standards. Several aspects have to be upgraded for this to be achieved. They are :

    * the Basics, i.e. Food, Clothing & Shelter.

    * Health Care.

    * Education & Skills training.

    * Communications.

    * Transport.

    * Achieving an optimum population suited to available resources & needs of the country through Family Planning and
    Birth Control,

    plus other aspects.

Question: How can this be achieved unless we become Aware of our real Needs & Self Sufficient as much as possible ?

  7. Fran Diaz Says:

On a personal level, however ‘Mod’ a person may look, it is the age old values in Ethics & Morality that we respect, trust and
    like ….
