Today JMO’s office Colombo has released a body to the kupiyawatha ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Muslim ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ burial grounds. where the body has been postmortem and handed over without stitches , this has been the second time it has happened and even two weeks before , we heard the city corner Edward ahangama also talking regarding this two weeks ago stating that there was a body released after the postmortem was ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ done ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ without stitches as the relatives of the diseased did not pay any money to the laborers ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of the JMO’s office.

This must be the last time we receive ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ body’s like this and we need the president to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ intervene ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in this matter and bring justice and the matter be investigated.

Health Services Director General of Sri Lanka, Dr. Ajith Mendis has been informed of an extortion racket carried out by a group of employees at the office of Colombo Judicial Medical Officer (JMO).
Colombo JMO, Dr. Ananda Samarasekera has in writing informed Dr. Mendis of an extortion racket by an organized group of employees at the JMO office collecting monies from the guardians of dead bodies.
Dr. Samarasekera has said that this group of employees has collected between Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 15,000 from relatives to release a dead body.
Dr. Samarasekera has condemned the racket and called for an immediate inquiry into the matter. He has pledged his support to an impartial inquiry.
An organized gang of employees of the Judicial Medical OfficerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Office are taking bribes to release bodies after the inquests had been held, our news sources said.
It is revealed that they take Rs.6000 to Rs.15000 from relatives of those who die in Colombo National Hospital to release the bodies and this has become a big racket in the JMO,. It is revealed that body is not properly prepared if the bribe is not
paid. This has been revealed by the President of All Ceylon Muslim death grants association Dhamar Kathab before the Colombo Coroner Edward Ahangama.
Mr. Ahangama has decided to complain to the Bribery Commission today regarding the bribe taking at the GMOƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s office. He has also decided to propose to the Ministry of Justice to prepare a process to avoid such malpractices.
