INDO-US STRATEGY: LASSO AROUND OUR NECK

There is a time to criticize and a time to be constructive. Country is being systematically throttled with a lasso thrownaround its neck by an alien fist.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Reconstruct is the proper term.

Lets stand firm and heave the wretched curse of the albatross stuck around our neck andbreathe again like a free nation.Country is in the dock withthe men who won the war, providing the space to inhale freely, being targeted by the West for punishment and by India designingto bring the full impact of its fissiparous 13 Amendment.

This is a government, successful in the war theatre and found wanting in its peace venture. After the war, the countrysecurely positioned in a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”safe zoneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, has fallen into theƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”endangered zoneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ with the Indo-American resolution. A unique situation has developed ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Government and the NGO lobbies are singing in harmony the same theme song- of an innocuous harmless resolution that carries no poisonous fangs. Is it to make it worse by falling into the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”danger zoneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ from the present ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”endangered zoneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢, of doing nothing, the route often taken by resting on ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-our laurelsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ after having lost the resolution? If the resolution had no sting or bite in it, why was a team of over fifty air dropped into Geneva to hibernate in EuropeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s most expensive city and send Ministersglobe trotting around the world in fifteen days to defeat it.Lack of foresight, state sponsored go-slowon LLRC recommendations, stupid strategy and diplomatic misadventure contributed to the sorry state. Put it aside and start afresh making a situation that isbad betterinstead of indulging insilly talk that is making it worse.

We cannot bow down to the resolution and lose our rights to sovereignty that is vested in the people. [A unique feature of vesting sovereignty in the People and making it ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-unalienableƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ is due to the prudence and skills of the draftsmen of 1972 Constitution. The magic phrase was retained in its purity in the changes made in 1978.]ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The resolution permits the UNHRC to trespass on our land with ourƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”concurrenceƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ devaluing our cherished sovereignty secured in the people. Denying the right of access by electing not to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”concurƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ would mean an adverse report at the next session of the UNHRCwhere theconsequences would be worse. Government will find it hard to refuse in a virtually no-win situation. The Indian amendment to the draft resolution made the obvious appear less compulsive cosmetically, without taking Sri Lanka out of the nightmare.

Point of desired entry is on war crimes to punish the men-of-war, if possible casting aspersions on the President, Defense Secretary and the Military Commanders to effect a limited regime change. ItƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s the point where endangering enters the equation. Commencing on a slow benign note, as is usual in the UNHCR circlesand progressively enter the domestic realm: with time the intensity increases to reach uncomfortable proportions.

It happened last time when the so-calledƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Eminent PersonsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ were granted official observer status including thejolly old Darusman (who appeared by proxy having never visited Sri Lanka) delivering a stinging report on Sri Lanka with a symbolic walk out,at the Presidential Commission on Human Rights Violations headed by Nissanka Udalagama, after a courteous beginning. (Why was a biased Darusman not disqualified on the basis of a pre judgment on Sri Lanka when nominated to the Moon panel-the objection that we failed to punch home based on the rules of natural justice?). Expect a repeat performance if foreign visitors are allowed to meander on our soil.

Without bartering away our sovereignty the need is to vault over the barricade imposed by the resolution.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Defy it diplomatically- in other words – circumvent it craftily. Navigate around by doing what we should do in the national interest. Implement the LLRC report picking on the priorities according to the need of the national almanac and execute it on a timing shown on our stopwatch. Do what we need do without being told what to do. Had this course initially being followed, the resolution would not have surfaced. Lets not make the mistake twice with the watchdogs now on the prowl.

The areas to concentrate, fashioning it according to our interest in a transparent manner, are as stated in the LLRC report: ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (i) address Accountability (ii) work on the Tamil grievances as out lined in the LLRC (iii) wipe off the slate land and police powers from the Constitution (iv) import good governance (v) devolve power to the grassroots as outlined in the LLRC report by empowering the people. (vi) implement the trilingual schedule. This is the balance to satisfy all communities. The importance lies in a quick take off.

UNP continues to make the mistake of being on the side of the antinational forces against the interest of the nation. UNP says it is stands for the country but in practice does the virtual the opposite by siding with the foreign forces by their pronouncements-except for Sajith Premadasa -who is against the resolution but remains critical of the government, which is a stand an enlightened UNP should take to succeed.

Even those who call the government obnoxious finds it against their grain to vote for the UNP due their stand on the prime issue but would rather abstain than vote for the UNP. At a crunch election, the wavering locals can move back to the UPFA column jettisoning the abstention stand- because people prefer to have a government positively pro Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Ranil Wickremasinghe shows himself as the local boy servile to the western elements that ushered the Geneva resolution.

UPFA government defeats itself by its own inept performance while the UNPrevives the government by its antics, which is the perennial equation.

Rather unfortunate to see a prominent lawyer like Gomin Dayasiri missing the point by light years.

We cannot “craftily circumvent” or “diplomatically defy” the UNHRC resolution by implementing it. Who are we trying to fool? US-EU-India axis that knows what it knows or poor Sri Lankans?

The US-EU-India axis is not so thick to be taken for a ride. They have an end in mind – disintegration of Sri Lanka. Until then they will push on.

Your (i) to (vi) to do list essentially means giving into the UNHRC resolution! It is like federal without the word federal.

Then UNHRC will demand what happened to demilitarisation. As it is not done, they will quite correctly say Sri Lanka didn’t implement the UNHRC resolution.

On the accountability initiative, if UNHRC “advice” (authority to be precise) is not sought and Sri Lanka doesn’t come up with the verdict in their mind, UNHRC will says Sri Lanka failed on that count too.

    We are defying ourselves.

After that what will happen? They will put forward another resolution after resolution until we end up like Israel and Palestine.

Sri Lanka should flatly refuse to abide by the UNHRC resolution. No nonsense.

The mentioning of “Tamil grievances” is a tragicomedy. It is a bottomless pit or a black hole. Trying to address “Tamil grievances” is the noose around our necks. If we completely address them, Sri Lanka will be divided. If we don’t completely address them, resolutions will continue. There is no escape with “Tamil grievances”. We must never entertain them.

  2. Dilrook Says:

UPFA digs its grave if it implements the UNHRC resolution or any political solution for that matter.

What happened to Dudley, JRJ, CBK and Ranil will happen to the UPFA if any political solution is implemented.

If UPFA implements any political solution or gives in to the UNHRC resolution, what is the difference it has with the UNP? Both are same. In that case people would choose change than continuation.

If UPFA goes home it is not because of lack of good governance (UNP is no better in good governance) but because of political solutions and giving into the UNHRC resolution. That is not what UPFA voters voted for. They voted for triumphalism, defiance of international pressure and decisiveness.

  3. Dham Says:

“work on the Tamil grievances as out lined in the LLRC ”
I didn’t read LLRC. What are the grievances ? Can’t think of any. We treat them well, don’t we ?

  4. Christie Says:

The Sinhalese educated have a problem that is caused by the non violent aggression and oppression of the Indian hegemony. (indiyanu jadawadaya).

He see “jolly old Darusman” an Indoinesian person but goes blind with Ms Yasmin Sooka an Indian colonial parasite from South Africa and Navi Pillai.

The problems of the island nation is India and Indian colonial parasites.

We have to remove privileges enjoyed by the Indian colonial parasites since their arrival under the British guns before anything else.

It looks like the “law education in Sri Lanka” is still dominated by Indian colonial parasites.

  5. Leela Says:

I agree with Dilrook. Tamil grievances are unlimited hence implementing any or all of those six items or even more will not fix Tamil grievances for it was arisen from Tamil aspiration and not vice versa. Be realistic; Tamil aspiration is nothing but Eelam.

Leave out a settlement for all; let’s see whether an agreement is possible among Tamils to start with. Representative politician Devananda and his EPDP want 13A minus; Pillaiyan wants 13A; Sangaree and his TULF wants Indian modal, TNA wants 13A plus plus …., Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam and his ACTC wants self determination or con-federal, Tamil Diaspora and their TGTE want ISGA. Mind you, all of them say that their demands are only to start with. That means; consensual view of all of them in the end must be Eelam.
    Leela

In fact the nation should be thankful to all those who can see things for what they are including all commentators above.

We have a very dangerous situation in the country where the “purohithas” tell us that king’s new dress is very beautiful whereas in actual fact he is stark naked!

The government has successfully classified those who don’t praise the government into traitors.

Weerawansa, Venerable Medhananda, Gammanpila, Ranawaka, Venerable Gunawansa and most other hardcore patriots are now either defunct or dumb. They leverage their patriotism of yesteryear to the detriment of the nation. No one has the backbone to demand the abrogation of 13A. Patriots have been successfully mislead once again.

    “Mawbime panchayudaya”?

My foot! Shame on these con artists.

it is true! if Sinhalese were not foolish, then global agency won’t ride Sinhalese for thirty years.
there are many countries who are transitionally friends of sri lanka and Sinhalese had many opportunities and experience to detect the who were fake friend and avoid further more swallowing there tricks. It was not hard at all to avoid falling into tricks if Sinhalese were global and fast investigate and fast move.
For example: Norwegian minister was not fired “it is a popular “make believing” story of an agency”
Just take a break and look at how an global agency work. they set up UN vote to frighten Sinhalese and direct India, then came to JHU and gave idea to talk to RSS. RSS is the who link to
Ayodya mosque disruption and Gujarat massacre than this agency brought this news to Saudi Arabia and got an Arab writer to write hate against Sinhalese ” Silence kills, in Sri Lanka and Syria” “Sri Lanka on notice: “Where do we go from here” “Ban Wants LLRC Implemented”
These all came from one agency in one day.

Friends do not come to Sri lanka for espionage. China is traditional friend but are they working 24 hour to got Sinhalese accept global deceit? Did they tell any malicious story against India or Pakistan or any other country? NON

Do not buy western propaganda news which is directed buy an agency. Investigate Ban Moon. Investigate advisers to all Norway govts. Check who was the Secretary of Norwegian minister. Check who deceits Time of India. Check who deceits Hindu Time. Check who deceit Japan. Check who Directs “Elders” Check who direct Western NGOs. Investigate all malicious Western news paper articles. They all came from one group. and check who is approaching Sri lanka communities in Toronto and Sl high commissioner. And investigate how a Western recomandation got into LLRC

Gomin Dayasiri and a few more should have been appointed to protect Israel. I can imagine the “would be situation” of Israel by now.

UNP is not the for the country. UNP and JVP both are for they themselves. Every one else is like that. They come first and then comes the country.

Govt knows that that whole LLRC cannot be implemented. but, Govt will not be able to decide that. So,the best thing is not to abide by the resolution.

My guess is once GOSL withdrow army in to barracks, new-JVP and LTTE may begin reorganizing again. They may operate via Tamilnadu again. That is the besides so the so many demands made by Tamil tribalists and their affiliates.

  12. Voice123 Says:

No point fighting. Sinhalese leaders have fallen into Hindian-Tamil Nadu-Tiger trap. We are isolated internationally. If this is a chess game, very few moves left before check mate. Rich Sinhalayas have feathered their nests in the West and will join “Hindian friends” to joke and talk politics and dream of a “Asokan resurgance in future India”. So called Hindian heirs of the Asokan civilisation have united their country with the Dravidian South at the expense of the Sinhalese Buddhists! How ironic. Government may as well organize mass conversion ceremonies on Galle Face Green where we can burn Dhammapadas, Korans and Bibles in front of Jayalalitha and Vaiko and Singh and worship at their feet with poomalais, kiss the image of Lord Shiva and Kaliamman and become Sakkili Singhalam Lower than Dalit caste. We will have to speak only Tamil, learn Hindi and singh “Jana mana gana apne hai Bharat ki jai” like good Dalits and carry shit buckets and do other unmentionable Sakkili work for Dalits, Vellalh Tamils and Hindians and their western patrons. Muslim world and Chinese etc will hate us because they think we are with Hindians, Africans, Israelis etc will loathe us because Sinhala Vijayans want to be “Aryans”! Rayappu Joseph and so called Tamil “Christians” after fooling us to think Christians are our enemies will shed their Christian cloths and become naked Karukkals! West will think we are their enemy and use Hindians to control us. Tamil aspirations will be met.

IT is some of those dumb advisors who may have recommended the govt to get nervous witgh the Darusman report and had asked for a LLRC. So, now they say nothing to be scared off. It is like training children to stand and walk.

Only thing is, no one says what is after LLRC even if govt implement what can be implemented.

India should have sent its troops back to Sri Lanka to kill or capture Prabhakaran and the LTTE leadership after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, says a new book by a former US diplomat.

Rajiv Gandhi’s killing was an attack on India’s status as a regional power. Forcibly bringing Prabhakaran to India to face trial would have sent a clear message to the region, and the world, that India would defend its political leaders from attack, defend its political system from intimidation and defend its primacy in South Asia against any challengers, the author says.

A frightened India became content with being a passive regional power rather than active global power, says the book China’s Nightmare, America’s Dream: India as the next global power by William H Avery, former American diplomat.

Avery was on posting in India and served in the US department of state during the administrations of president Bill Clinton and George W Bush.

Ananda USA, India will only help Sri Lanka to the extent it furthers their own “Hindutva” empire including meeting the aspirations of their Dravidian south which is Sri Lana’s demise. They have nothing in common with Buddhist values. This attitude that India is willing to help or has a special connection with us is mere eyewash. We are better off aligning more closely with non aligned nations and putting India againt America. Otherwise Wait for the parippu.

  19. Ananda-USA Says:

    Voice123,

There is a saying, popular among security experts, that “countries have no permanent allies, they have only permanent interests”. As long as those interests are served, alliances are created, and then as easily broken.

Having said that, if two nations have a common viewpoint perhaps due to a common heritage and shared difficulties, they are more likely to maintain their alliances over a longer period. For example, the United States and Britain have such an alliance. Many Americans are of Anglo-Saxon descent, and although these two countries fought the war of US independence and the war of 1812, they have largely supported each other since then, especially in WW I, WW II, Korea, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Today the British volunteer to fight wars largely opposed by the majority British people, SOLELY to preserve that relationship.

The relationship of Sri Lanka and India is similar in many respects. Most people of Sri Lanka are descended from India, and the majority of us follow religions that originated in India. Also, India, as the birthplace of Buddhism, honors Buddhist values, many of which are common to both Buddhism and Hinduism. You should know that laws have their foundations in both Hindu and Buddhist principles.

Despite all of these shared values, India will place a priority on their own interests, not ours. Our shared heritage will have only secondary impact. That is to be expected, for charity begins at home.

When I said that India should have helped Sri Lanka quell the LTTE by giving the SLDF arms and equipment instead of invading our country, I stated it from India’s point of view that would be BENEFICIAL to India. It would spare the lives of their soldiers, quell an organization that is INIMICAL to the integrity of their own country using our armed forces, saves them money, does not entangle them in a LONG WAR & OCCUPATION in a foreign land that they cannot ultimately win, with the attendant risk of it coming home to roost … as it seems to have now and avoids a HUGE DRAIN on their ECONOMY, as the US is suffering from now. The preservation of good relations with the majority of people of Sri Lanka as a reliable ally to protect their Southern border, is a secondary consideration from their point of view, but nevertheless an important one, given the difficulties they are having with all other neighboring countries along India’s heavily garrisoned Northern border.

We have to CONFRONT India when it serves our interests to defend our country, but should not do things INIMICAL to India due to prejudices arising from false misconceptions.

  20. Lorenzo Says:

“We have to CONFRONT India when it serves our interests to defend our country, but should not do things INIMICAL to India due to prejudices arising from false misconceptions.”

    I agree.

For instance WHEN (not if) Islamic fundamentalism reaches SL, we need Indian and US help to wipe them out MERCILESSLY without ANY human rights or animal rights.

“countries have no permanent allies, they have only permanent interests”.

    We MUST follow this.

We have to keep options open.

But when India goes against us we have to fight it diplomatically TOOTH AND NAIL.

First step, SCRAP Indian 13 amendment.
Second step, DEPORT ALL Indian illegal immigrants back to India.

Our enemy is NOT India per se but Tamil nationalists. We should not miss the woods for the trees!

While Hilary Clinton’s declared urgency to attack Iran has overtones of election block politics related to the upcoming US Presidential election in November, it is by no means certain that Nobel Prize Winning President Obama will prevail, and that she will still be in Office come January 2013. Perhaps, this urgency is fueled by that uncertainty, and the need to make hay while the sun still shines, to set her up for a future run of her own for the Presidency.

Also noteworthy is that dear old Clinton’s “democracy” and “human rights” agenda is making some of the intended “beneficiaries” in Arab countries of the Gulf DISTINCTLY NERVOUS.

While Qatar seems to be basking in the aura of security provided by the US fleet stationed there and acting like the designated “Arab Democracy” of the Persian Gulf, the United Arab Emirates has SHUT DOWN and EJECTED an American Funded “democracy group following similar action against a German organization past week (see article below).

We need a guard too. We must secretly have some arrangement with China. We must have talks quickly and set up a security pact with China.

  24. Voice123 Says:

Ananda USA, our relationship with India is not comparable to the US and Brutain. Sure the potential is there but that is not the reality. Most Indians know very little about Sri Lanka and are illiterates who live in a world of myths and legends. Some think demons like Ravana still live there and should be punished by latter day Hanumans. To Tamil Nadu, we are the enemy. Buddhism was violently destroyed by militant Hindus. Granted, higher Hindu values have something in coomon with Buddhism but modern India has jettisoned even that and seems to be following Western style gunboat diplomacy. This is because modern India is merely a continuation of the British colonial Raj. Instead of being run for the benefit of the British, it’s run for the benefit of an elite anglicized clique who are still looking to England and the West for answers. Even the Chinese acknowledge this about Indians. What you say would hold true if India was truly democratic, modernized and in touch with their roots. Agreed, we shouldn’t do anything against their interests. That would be stooping to their level, like allowing terrorist training camps on our soil to attack them! However, as things stand, continuing to rely on India for our security is suicidal! They need to be taught a lesson on valuing Sri Lanka. Till then we need a defence pact with other regional powers like China and Pakistan. At the next parippu drop, think of what I said.

    Voice123,

I never said that we should rely on India for Sri Lanka’s security. If you have been reading my comments, you would know that I have been advocating quite the opposite.

We need an array of allies, because as I said before, “countries have no permanent allies, they have only permanent interests”.

The fact that today China is a good friend to Sri Lanka is no guarantee it will be so in the future. Superpowers, just like smaller countries, can be bought with various inducements. China for example is very dependent on exports to the US … which can be used as a lever to change China’s attitude towards Sri Lanka. So it is with all super powers; their needs and priorities change, just as the geopolitical priorities of the US have changed recently to Sri Lanka’s disadvantage

Therefore, we have to be very wary of giving any ONE foreign power total control over us. We must always try to be self sufficient in essentials as far as possible, and have a wide spectrum of allies for both security and trade. The difficulties SL is now facing without oil imports from Iran, is a case in point. The current GOSL clearly appreciates that and is reaching out beyond Europe, America and India to innoculate SL against international blackmail.

Furthermore, while PREVENTING UNWARRANTED INTERFERENCE within our country and DEFENDING IT, we must never go out of our way to UNNECESSARILY PROVOKE other countries. As a small country, trying to improve the lives of our people, we simply can’t afford to do so.

As the ancient Greeks said, and Lord Buddha reiterated, “Pan Metron Ariston” meaning MODERATION in All Things is BEST.

Former LTTE terrorists re-trained in Tamil Nadu committing murders in Sri Lanka

    ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Apr 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka police intelligence wings have revealed that around 150 terrorists have returned to the island after receiving training in Tamil Nadu, India, a Sinhala daily, Divaina reported Monday.

The Police came to know this information through the questioning of three suspects arrested for the murder of a member of the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP), a ruling party constituent partner.

The EPDP member, identified as Ragunathan, a resident of Muttur in Trincomalee district, was found on March 17 with throat slit allegedly by the suspects. They have reportedly displayed a note on the body of the victim saying that they had given death penalty to a traitor and have resumed their work.

The suspects have tried to flee to India after the murder of the EPDP member. However the police have foiled their attempt and arrested them, police said.

Upon interrogation the suspects have claimed that they have been trained in Tamil Nadu and sent to Sri Lanka disguised as fishermen to create mayhem and disturb peace in the North and East.

It has also been revealed that the suspects were former LTTE cadres who have fled to India through sea routes after the end of the war and were hiding in the Tamil Nadu state. They have reportedly received weapons training at a camp in a secret location in Tamil Nadu, the suspects have told the police.

The police are investigating whether the trio is connected to other unsolved murders in the northeast in the last few years.

The suspects have been handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Department (TID) for further investigations.

Country’s division, still the aim of Tiger proxies – GL

External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris said although the LTTE has been militarily vanquished in Sri Lanka, its proxies and supporters abroad were using various methods and tactics at achieving their stated objective, which is to divide the country.

“The need of the hour is for the public to have a clear awareness of the campaign and what is being attempted by these anti-national elements. Sri Lankans irrespective of political differences should unite to confront this challenge,” the minister said.

He was speaking at the first of the series of rallies titled Rata Ekata (country united) at the Bogambara grounds in Kandy on Saturday under President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s patronage.

Addressing the gathering, the minister said that LTTE supporters who are carrying out a vigorous campaign internationally to divide Sri Lanka have only changed their methods but not their aims. “The aims remain the same,” he added.

‘The latest episode in this campaign is the situation involving Major General Prasanna Silva attached to the Sri Lankan High Commission in London,” he pointed out.

The minister explained that to bring war crimes charges against Major General Silva, LTTE supporters were now using an unusual method of bringing litigation against British Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary William Hague. “The underlying aim is to deprive Major General Silva of diplomatic immunity and bring charges against him in British courts” he added.

Explaining another such anti – Sri Lankan campaign, Prof Peiris pointed out that in the Channel 4 video there is reference to a chain of command or a command structure in several places.

He added: “The clear purpose behind this is to target the political and military leadership that was responsible for eradicating terrorism from Sri Lanka”. The minister, while stating that all of this could be countered effectively, noted that however it was important for the public to have a clear awareness of the issues at hand.

“To sow the seeds of discord within states like Sri Lanka as was the case in the Arab Spring states, there was a highly sophisticated and orchestrated campaign.

‘There is an attempt to create bitterness and confusion within the country. That was to prepare the ground for direct foreign intervention which comes later,” he added. Prof Peiris explained that in the aftermath of the resolution, certain people with ulterior political motives had tried to create fear in the public mind on various things including the possibility of sanctions. He assured that there was no basis to these fears. However, the minister said that the people should be alert to the motives behind these campaigns.

“If we unite as one, then no foreign force can deprive us of the peace and stability which the country enjoy today,” Prof Peiris said.

Prior to the meeting, a massive crowd marched and gathered in the capital city of the hill country, to show solidarity against foreign interference and attempts to create division in the country.

    President Rajapaksa also spoke.

Prime Minister D M Jayaratne, Central Province governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Ministers Maithripala Sirisena, Susil Premajayantha and Patali Champika Ranawaka were also present.

Why do we have to publish this news?

Just exploit them to the maximum and get rid of the dirt.

    No need to tell anyone.

We KNOW LTTE is active abroad and they can come to SL any time. Just get rid of them ALL. No mercy.

“Country’s division, still the aim of Tiger proxies – GL”

    Yawn!

We know this. Just handle Tamil nationalists within our reach militarily.

  30. Voice123 Says:

AnandaUSA agreed, best not to put India offside but we did nothing to invite their terrorist training camps in Tamil Nadu etc. looks like they started it again. They are he’ll bent on either annexing us or imposing their ethnically based federal system on us. You surely understand that unity of the whole versus segregated destinies does reflect a difference between Hindu and Buddhist world views. That is why culturally we are more in sync with the Buddhist and even other countries in ASEAN and East Asia. India is aware of this. India is also jealous that east Asia has left them behind in the development stakes and they ate coming down rough on us trying to use sabotage and pressure from the West/ Commonwealth etc to pull us back into their orbit through creating poverty and instability. Agreed there are no permanent interests. I am talking about recent decades. Even westerners will tell u China has done much more than India to uplift the living standards of their masses and they deal more equitably with developing nations. Australia will sell uranium to China but is reluctant to sell to India because they think India is far more unstable and corrupt ftom top to bottom. African countries, are suspicious of India and deal more productively with Chinese. That May change in the future but it hasnt. Their caste issues are insurmountable. There is a rumour that high castes (together with certain racists in the West) are planning a holocaust or germ warfare to commit a genocide on the lower castes. That’s the way of the world at present. You don’t need to be ethnically related or neighbours to form defence pacts with countries eg Japan and Korea have pacts with the USA because they’re afraid of China. Gulf Arabs, Israelis and Saudis also. Native Fijians and Malays had pacts with UK for fear of Indian interference in their internal affairs.

Is the author forewarning the Sri Lankan Establishment?
We can argue/place the blame on US, EU, India until the cows come home, it would not make an iota of difference until we look at our own track record of implementing our own “home grown” solutions. eg LLRC for starters.
China will eventually lose its patience if Sri Lanka continues abrogate on its promises. (as one Chinese diplomat said give us a good reason to help you..or words to that effect)
It’s about time MR shows he is a Statesmen.

  33. Marco Says:

It is a sad day when people like Dr DJ of exceptional ability are sidelined and unqualified sycophants are allowed to hold sway backed by the powers that be. The candle flame of democracy and justice in Sri Lanka is now spluttering and may soon be extinguished.

I don’t necessarily agree with DJ politics but he fought for Sri Lanka (possibly compromising his own principles of fair play). He retains his credibility which is more than what you can say of the sycophants.

    Typical Condom mentality.
