Who is the real Sarath Fonseka

Is Sarath Fonseka the war hero some like to him to be or is he a fake? Where does his loyalities are? To Sri Lanka or to the foreign powers who sponsor him?
Sarath Fonseka claims full credit for defeting the LTTE terrorist scum. To do that he must have been in total control of the army, the navy, the air force and the special task force. If he was in complete control of the armed forces, then he must be responsible for if there were any war crimes. How can he say the defence secretary ordered Gen Shavendra Silva to kill those who were carrying white flags? If that allegation was true then he was not in control of the army. The defence secretsry was running the show and should take the full credit.
How can he claim that he defeted the LTTE when he was overseas on the 19th of May 2009? Obviously it was the defence secretary and the front line offices who planed the final assault.
I make the followingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ observations when I examine these facts.
1. Sarath Fonseka had no intention of finishing the war in May 2009.That was why he wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ overseas negotiating for more arms purchases during that time.Was heƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ planning to drag on the war so that his son-in law can make more commissions?
2. Sarath Fonseka wanted to increase the strength of the army after the conclusion of the war.Was it again to buy more arms and equipment for his son-in law’s benefit or was it because he wanted more soldiers loyal to him?
3. When he did not have his way he suddenly turned against the Rajapaksas and pledge his loyality to the Americans and betrayed the army and the nation. Do I really think he gives a crap about a bunch ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ dead LTTEƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ muderers even if they were carrying white flags when he was allengedlyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ responsible for cold blooded killing JVP youths in 1989?
I honestly think some people want Sarath Fonseka to lead the country not because they think he will be a good political leader. It is only because they hate the Rajapakses so much.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is very irresponsible for Sarath and the opposition leadersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to blame the Rajapaksa brothers for corruptionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and not expose these allagations if they want to be the future leaders of the country.
The reasons I admire the president are because heƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ stood up to the western bullies,totally eliminated the terrorist LTTE and bought peace to the countryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and I ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ can see the on going development in the country.Of course he has his faults, Hambantota air port and the cricket stadium are the most obvious.

I disagree with #1 and #2 mainly.
It was SF who wanted to finish off the terrorists. He made this clear. He said on 11/07/2009 some people in “AC rooms” told him to accept the surrender of terrorists which he refused. GR wanted surrender, SF didn’t.
SF’s vision to increase the army and settle them in the north was the RIGHT strategy. He said we have to do it because otherwise India will “invade” us. HOW TRUE? GR doesn’t understand this.
Today India is INVADING us in many ways – illegal immigrants from India, Indian political invaders, Indian high commission invaders, etc. And govt can’t do anything about it!
SF has his problems. But he has a good side too. SF’s good side is govt’s bad side.

As Lorenzo also says, it is in the public domain that it is the SF who said he has another year or so to retire and he would not leave the LTTE war for his replacement. Increase of the strength of the Forces is not only SF’s conclusion also wanted that.
Many articles appeared against SF all by journalists partial to the govt and they criticize SF like there is no one else on earth who is worse than that.
Only thing SF did wrong was he contested against his former Boss.
Now, I think, he was pushed into that position because the govt was so concerned about using the war victory for another election win.
There is nothing to hate rajapakses. People accepted him even after the Tsunami Fund scandle. After that so many things happened, and govt corruption and thefts are almost daily occurrence. Yet, govt-piad journalists clean the dirty laundry covering everything happened and is happening.
What SF did was wrong by contesting against his former Boss.
How about, character assacination and humiliating former CJ Sarath Silva, who supported by supporting in the Tsunami fund scandle during the Supreme court case, by publishing things in his personal life simply because he wanted to come into political life.
Sri Lankan war was a collective effort by many. But, in any war, it is the ground forces who takes most brunt and SLA should be acknowledged as they fought a ruthless terrorist group. So, it is shamlessness when trying always to credit only MR and GR for doing everything. It is simply JEALOUSY and the lack of respect to other people because of greed.

I can not imagine when SF had done this many illegal or unpatriotic or criminal things he was prosecuted on some technicality. One is some conflict of interests case in which his son-in-law was also a broker or something. The other thing at the peak time of the war, proper tender procedure was not followed.
Does that show that the prosecution was very lousy and they did not know even what the journalists knew ?

Sri Lankan opposition has no credible leader. They want to grab power by hanging on to Mr.Fonseka’s tail. Western powers think Mr.Fonseka can be used as a puppet to control Sri Lanka. Whole scenario is crystal clear.
President is no fool. He out gunned the Human history’s worst terrorist organisation. President can out-think and out-smart Mr.Fonseka on any given day.
True, Mr.Fonseka was part of that War victory, but Mr.Fonseka is not a National leader or a Statesman. He lacks charisma, forgiveness and foresight.

During my 21years residence in Australia I have visited Sr Lanka several times. During my last visit in December/January I saw only about seven or eight air crafts at Katunayake air port, only one international air craft. During my two hour stay at the terminal I saw only one aircraft landing there. So why do we need another international air port when this one is not functioning to capacity? What we need to do is to make this air port more efficient, have clean toilets and some decent duty free shops and cafes and parking facilities.The cost of maintaining an air port is huge.When we can’t maintain the one we have properly, why invest in another? What we really need is perhaps another terminal for travelers to India who make a mess of the toilets in the depature terminal.

His fault was not contesting agsint the boss. The boss had a comfortable win thanks to INEXPERIENCED SF contesting against him. The victory margin was highest in history.
His faults are
1. Joining TNA in contesting election – UNFORGIVABLE.
2. Discrediting the army by saying “Gota ordered to shoot”.
3. Discrediting the army by name calling people in higher position (AC rooms).
4. Making a fool of himself by joining with Mangala, Gonason, Sambanthan and other traitors who RIDICULED him. One called SF unsuitable even to lead the Salvation Army!
5. Accepting USD 1,000,000 from Patricia Butenis to spy for USA.
6. Making foolish statements in public that ridiculed the intelligence level of the army commander. (Thankfully he was a better intelligent person though.)
7. Getting soldiers under him to DESERT (not retire) and take home their weapons!
8. Using private militias to terrorise people.
9. These are in addition to HORENDOUS CRIMES he commited while in the army. Those were temporarily forgiven because he was serving the country.
10. His son in law Danuna (my good friend from school days) was NOT a weapons dealer UNTIL he started an affair with Apsara! Why did he suddenly become a wepons dealer after he started an affair with the army commander’s daughter? Now I’m not going to drag family members of SF here but you know the story.
But make no mistake, SF was a hero until he got into #1 to #8.

A zero dollar foriegn trading only company was set up in Queesland exactly 1 month before Raja wining. His brother lives in Queensland. This his the company ( name only – the address is a house in suburbs) sold items to Danuna.
My question to you is,
Such a hypocrat who stole money and then started corruption mantra is unforgivable. This corruption nonsense was USA songs. It is on going. This bastard is the no: 1 betrayer and cannot be a hero , because heros are never cheaters. He is a cheater.

Sarath W, I am surprised that you only saw 1 or 2 aircrafts landing at Katunayake in 2 hours. You may have fallen asleep or in a restaurant. Also, having another airport 100 or so miles away is not at all a bad idea. You have to look at the bigger picture and beyond 2012 or your and my lifetime.

Mr. Bill Clinton, I read some where, had extra-marietal affairs even when he was a State governor in Kansas. But, only the last affair just before he leaving the white house was exposed. After that, even there is a book written about his other dealings. That is how things go in the political world.
Even about JRJ, people now talk because he is long gone (besides, in case of him, no one to defend him too).
For SF, even the things he did for his boss have backfired for him. Now, he is a perfect villain.

The state of NSW is several times bigger than Sri Lanka and there is only one international air port. If the air traffic increases at Katunayaka, the sensible thing is to build another runway. Are we going to build international air ports every 100 miles apart? It is obvious the Sri Lankan govermnent want to build a Rajapaksa kingdom in Hambantota.It’s time we have to get our priorities right.

He did that due to his love for the country and people, otherwise like others he could have stayed with the Rajapakses doing corruption. Until and unless the Rajapakses are thrown out from powere there will be massive scale corruption in Sri Lanka, only SF can clean up the country, just like he did in the Army.

Raj, thank you for answering Sarath W. This is the true story of Hambantotta Airport. And I say MR is great Chess player. Main opperssition to open the Hambantotta harbor is from CANADA, because Canada’s air routes will suffer on the day this airport start to function. Today, if an American wants to fly to Singapore from New York, the cost is one and a half times more than flying from Toronto to Singapore. It is cheaper to fly to Toronto from New York and then take the Torono Singapure flight. SL has forged an alliance with KINIYA AIR and will start flying daily from Kiniya to Colombo. If Sri Lanka Air starts to fly from MIAMI, Florida, USA to Kiniya then to Colombo and continue to Singapure. All CANADIAN routes are disrupted. This is why I call MR is a great chess player. Sorry to say this Sarath W. but! Any one saying that SL doesn’t need a second airport is on the payroll of CANADIAN Business Intelligence.

Not true. They were NOT ARMY. KT Rajasingham was too ashamed to admit they were his closer relatives than army so he turned it to army. Anyhow they were human beings. That is the point.
There is more than a rumour that the suicide bomber who targeted him was carrying Gonseka’s child. Gonseka looked after the bomber’s brother BEFORE the incident with a lorry permit to cross Omanthai.
