Govts can elevate peoples’ living standards. Other wise, alleviation of poverty is nonsense. People are confused. In a capitalist economy, if all the people are above the poverty level, there won’t be any one to do low paying labour type jobs. Because of that, in a poverty is essential. Instead, provide basic living standards – such as nutrition, education and health – to every one. Why did Suddha brought coolies. They wanted cheap labour.

Indians telling us how to alleviate poverty! What a bloody joke!
India is more poverty striken than SL. India is exporting poverty to other countries. This is part of that.
Money wasted to bring these Indians, give them accommodation, etc. could have better used to alleviate poverty even in a small way.

None of the speakers are not poor. They are not experiencing the effects of poverty. So, how can they speak on poverty alleviation

These are people who live their lives by intellectualizing the others’ mayhem.
Otherwise, capitalism wants poverty. I think, without poverty capitalism won’t exist.
