In Defense of the Secretary of Defense

The late 1970s started to development of the LTTE Terrorist Tiger Campaign in Sri Lanka, and it was a bonanza for the politicians of all colours, Sinhala & Muslim arms-mudalalis, the Tiger bag-men, a continuous Christmas for a few, over rivers of blood of innocent Sri Lankans.
The Rulers, Prime Ministers, Ministers came, and went with loaded commission cheques from various suppliers, bought mansions in the UK, Switzerland, Australia, and sent their brood to schools, mainly in the UK.
Whether it was the UNP or the SLFP led governments, neither had the quality of leadership to kick the butt of the Tamil Terrorist Scum. Unlike in other countries where the USA & the West sparred with USSR, there were no major players actively playing the field.
India played the “Dirty Hari” but the Chinese, Pakistan, Israel were simply playing with the players, selling weapons through multiple middlemen, to both sides, all making money.
With CBK, with her Uncle collecting the wads, simply turned a blind-eye to General Ratwatte pulling-in the moolah.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ There were a Fernandos’ Pereras’ & Silvas’ making monthly pilgrimages to London, and then to Switzerland & Luxembourg to do the banking.
In the meantime, the poor Sri Lankans were paying with their lives, and with blood if they were lucky.
That was until Mahinda Rajapaksa ascended the Throne, with his brothers Three.
The main asset President Rajapaksa enjoyed was the absolute Trust he had in his brothers. Both Gothabhaya and Basil, on top of their intelligence, they are essentially honest, patriotic and dedicated to Serve the Island.
At least, there were no rumours of a Brutus with a knife running aroundƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ brother Mahinda. Their Mission was to bring the Tigers to their knees. And That they did!
The Norwegians had their own Agenda, carving of the Natural Resources around the Sri Lankan waters, including the rich fishing grounds of Tuna.
The likes of Paki Saravanamuttu know very well, that after the “King” Rajkumar was kicked into an American jail, all these vermin can do is to moan, groan whilst sipping their Chivas Regal or a G&T, rack their Grey Cells to see how they could create a ripple or two.
The Tamil Terrorist Scum know fully well that, the government is in a strong position, not due to their “squeaky clean”governance but due to lack of an Opposition to challenge the direction.
As far as I am aware, Tamil brain is good in Maths, and brawn is a tried & tested product for strenuous physical activity from the day Rickshaw was invented.
A few lucky ones such as Paki and Raj Kumar should say thanks to the opportunities opened by the Sinhala establishment to them, to make their money to enable them to retire into UK & USA.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Did well at Oxbridge & LSE to their credit, much better than their Sinhala counterparts.
Returning to Gothabhaya, one might say categorically, if not for Gothabhaya, Tamils would still be running more than a riot in Sri Lanka, with or without Fonzi.
President Rajapaksa, however a good decision maker he is, without a trusted right hand such as Gothabhaya, Fonzi and the rest would have ‘run-rings-around’ him.
A short Fuse? Yes. Good for Him!ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I too suffer from the same syndrome.
And whilst we are discussing Defense, I have maintained that the Defense Forces should be strengthened in and around the Island. Train them and put them to some productive use, whilst they are trained in weaponry. Zero tolerance should be their motto.
Most of the readership of LankaWeb, I am glad to see, are in favour of Gota remaining as the Secretary of Defense. If a sudden demise of President Rajapaksa (God Forbid), the most likely and capable candidate to take over the Office of the President is Gothabhaya Rajapaksa.
So Paki and his bunch of playboys, may dance the night away swigging their poison, either with a Dosai or even with a Giant T-Bone Steak. Who cares?
Puppies or Horses like SWRD brought from the UK, including his own GreyHound puppies. As long as he pays for his ice cream, let him enjoy, even two!

Just look at the LOSERS demanding the removal of GR.

3. LTTE, TGTE, GTF, BTF, TOILET
4. Basil F’do
5. Shaky Paki
6. Laksiri F’do
ALL of them are TRAITORS! Why listen to them.
ANYTHING that is bad for them is good for SL. Anywthing good for them is bad for SL. That is the bottomline.

JVP is the traitor which successfully sued to annul JR’s merger of the North and the East, and also speak against massive corruption. A wise leader should now words s/he utters has a bigger impact

TOTAL JVP joined the corrupt govt in 2004 !! (That was their end).
JVP joined MOST corrupt TNA and UNP at the 2010 election.
JVP leaders use fake passports.
JVP blames GR to be an American citizen whereas the JVP leader is a British citizen (the other JVP leader is an American citizen and the other JVP leader is an Australian citizen)!!

Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa is a simple very humble person and a true vegetarian.
Only correct decision Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga made during her tenure was to make Lakshman Kadirgamar the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka.
Mahinda Rajapaksa made such a decision with the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the Secretary Defence. But, unlike the voluntary 2nd Lt Anuruddha Ratwatte, who accepted a Generalship and wore all kinds of uniforms and ridiculed the three forces, Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa a battle hardened soldier decided to be a civilian Defence Secretary.
It was a time the Sri Lankan forces had lost heavily men, equipment, morale and the propaganda war to the LTTE. The army could not even recruit adequate soldiers. Using his skills, Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa started the Defence website which became an instant hit. With the Api Wenuwen Api campaign Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa boosted the morale of the forces and the masses and people started to rejoin the army in large numbers.
There was a time when the Army failed to attract even 2,000 to join the army. But, it was Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa morale booster where he created welfare funds, housing projects for the forces, schools for their kids, proper place in the society which saw large numbers joining three forces and the police.
Many military officers and soldiers who joined hands to defeat the LTTE paid tribute to the Defence Secretary for his vision which saved many lives. The Defence Secretary took care of the forces like a father would do.
People like Anuruddha Ratwatte, Chandrananda de Silva and Austin Fernando could not tell the difference between a real gun and a toy gun, they could not care for the rank and file. But, Sri Lankan Forces had a man who really knew it, who was there in the heart of the battle field and cared for them.
Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa joined the three forces and the Police together at checkpoints and other areas when dealings with civilians. He improved the intelligence service tremendously which was considered very weak at the time.
Let us not forget that he had a very tough task after Ranil Wickermasinghe and John Amaratunge’s foolish actions with the Millennium City debacle killed over 60 Intelligence officers of the Sri Lanka Army.
Unlike the previous Defence Secretaries he reached out to the masses. Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa always speak from his heart. Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s talks are always very refreshing because he is sincere, frank and honest.
It was no easy task for him to keep together Sarath Fonseka his Army Commander who refused to speak with his old classmate Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda. But, Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa kept them together He deserves a gold medal for it. He had to do the balancing act because he was well focused to end terrorism from the island nation.
Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa got nothing to hide. He does not wear a mask. The man who loves Sri Lanka more than he cares for himself. People who criticize him today should know that they have failed to do a millimeter of what Lieutenant Colonel Nandasena Gotabaya Rajapaksa has done for Sri Lanka. He is a simple but a true hero.
His wife Ayoma is also a very simple lady, who stood by him then and now, with all her simplicity. They continue to live that simple life.

If not for Rajapaksa brothers, we would be extinct in a few years. These losers who demand GR’s resignation are just LTTE funded traitors.These are the same people who are ruining the university education. There isn’t a single politician in the opposition who has a fraction of the vision of MR, GR and BR.

Mr. Gothabaya Rajapaksa was the strategist and director of the victorious anti-ltte war. He is a true patriot of SL. He remains a very high GOSL official and represents the GOSL, not only because he is a high GOSL official, but also because he is our President’s brother. He is a dedicated, proud and passionate Sri Lankan and gets hurt when someone tries to rundown SL or undermine what he says. I have seen him being interviewed on the BBC, and I still remember his angry reactions to some of the questions the interviewer was posing. As a representative of the GOSL, I am sorry to say that it was rather embarrassing. I know he is a human being, just like anyone of us, but as a respected high level SL Govt official, he should learn to keep his cool under pressure and not let others exploit this weakness.I as As we all know, when one gets angry, all the reasoning goes out the door. So I, as someone who admires the patriotic leadership of Mr. GR and all he has already done for us, would certainly like him to be a true leader by cultivating a little more patience, which would come in handy when he is talking to all sorts of rabble-rouses. LTTE supporters, Tamil diaspora, foreign warmongers and other traitors are out there to get him. These scumbags will always try to exploit this weakness. A little patience, prudence and tact goes a long way to avoid any slippage.

Good analysis of our leaders’ attitude since independence. One important condition for maintaining a strong army for frontier defense is having local civil and military technology know how and capabilities. Without it , like some Middle East counties, security is at stake regardless of armaments. Unfortunately there is no focus on attaining such capabilities with the country depending on foreign expertise for everything from light engineering to mega projects like oil explorations
