It is often only after events take place and the damage has been done that we realize a lot of the riots, civil unrests, invasions taking place globally have all been planned and executed to perfection. The Arab uprisings leading to the fall of Egypt, Libya, Syria were all planned by external forces. These same forces overthrew the democratic Government of Iran and replaced it with the Shah. It was these same forces that implored Saddam to invade Kuwait and then used that as an excuse to invade Iraq. It now emerges that even Hitler was paid to carry out the holocaustƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.the examples are plenty. Is it therefore not possible that there is more to the July 83 riots than meets the eye. Was it not planned to create an ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ethnicƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ tag totally ignoring the reality that the Sinhalese people gave safe haven and refuge to their Tamil neighbors? If foreign mercenaries were involved in the uprisings in the Middle East with arms supplied by the West should we not wonder which country would have gained most by staging such a riot in Sri Lanka? Thinking logically, why would the Sinhalese ever want to create a situation wherein they would end up the condemned people internationally?
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is now time to put the pieces together to a puzzle that remains unsolved and to finally conclude that the Sinhalese had nothing to do with the 83 riots and it was people who were backed by external forces and external instructions that carried out these attacks on innocent people and property ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the looters sealed the eventual outcome. JRJ possibly would have fallen prey just as Saddam did in invading Kuwait.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Making further sense is that the covert destabilizing plan by Indira Gandhi to train Sri Lankan militants took place far before the July 83 riots ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” using the riots as an excuse that started the militancy should then be put to rest.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It was Mrs. Bandaranaike who allowed Pakistan to use ColomboƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s ports to refuel despite IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s objections and this was far before 83 too. It is however possible that JR JayawardenaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s government turning pro-West may have raised IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s concerns over its security. We must never forget that the interest shown on Sri Lanka by any country has nothing to do with forming cordial relations with any of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s governments or showing respect to the Sri Lankan people and everything to do with securing their use of our strategic geographical touch points.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Nevertheless it is puzzling that while India started a militancy movement when JRJ requested assistance from the western ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ they were not so forthcoming to assist. JRJ is on record blaming India for training the LTTE

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Promise of Tamil Eelaam
IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s pettiness is evident in the way India carved out the plan to always keep Sri Lanka short of militarily defeating the LTTE and short of creating Tamil Eelaam as that would have posed another threat for India in Tamil Nadu. For 30 odd years India has been fooling Sri Lanka, the Tamil people, the LTTE and Tamil Nadu. Nevertheless, the troika of the Indian Government, the Indian Intelligence and the LTTE had its ups and downs and there are times the links with LTTE and intelligence operatives tended to confuse the plan.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ While IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s hidden plan was to keep Sri Lanka embroiled in an ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ethnicƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ conflict it is clear that India was carving out simultaneous plans to use ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-democraticƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ channels to secure a stake in Sri Lanka that would keep other foreign nations abreast from India. That plan clearly was the Indo-Lanka Peace Accord and to facilitate that was the presence of the Indian Peace Keeping Force. We are well aware of the hype and fanfare involved in disarming of LTTE no sooner the Accord was signed in July 1987 and we next must wonder why IPKF was given orders to militarily defeat the LTTE just days after the handing over arms which led to thousands of IPKF deaths, thousands of Tamil civilian deaths, destruction to Tamil property and even rape of Tamil women. None of these killings have even earned an apology from India and none of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s mighty Tamil politicians so concerned about the Tamil people ever demanded such an apology from India.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Indian plan gets more confusing when despite gifting his bullet proof jacket and promising to hand over billions of money since LTTE were affected from their inability to tax the Tamil people, the IPKF commander claims Rajiv Gandhi wanted Prabakaran killed. Was this not why India created several Tamil militant groups and inspired them to clash with each other?

The July 1983 riots itself does leave a big question mark as to whether external forces were at play and the local parties tasked had a non-Buddhist touch to it leaving a strong possibility that the outcome of the riots ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the loss of several lives and property was meant to humiliate the Buddhist Sinhalese and to create a sympathy wave amongst the international community strong enough to make them offer refugee status to Tamils in developed countries. With this part of the plan artfully orchestrated we may conclude from the 2011 population census that the Tamil population is barely 1.5m (originally 2.4m) as over 1m Tamils now reside overseas which makes us to wonder whether the Tamils that make up this new number is perhaps illegal migrants from Tamil Nadu making a home in Sri Lanka over the years. Is this not why India has been helping so many people flee Sri Lanka citing repression of the Sri Lankan Government and forces so that the Indians can replace the fleeing Sri Lankan Tamils with Indians? It also begs to ask why we would want to stop anyone from fleeing in unsuited boats for any SantaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s island if they donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t want to remain in Sri Lanka.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Creation of Tamil Diaspora
It is possible that the Tamil Diaspora creation was simply a bargaining tool to appease the Tamils as their lifestyles have seen a commercial change and practically someone is now living overseas sending money to their family. This is why they regard the 83 as something to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-celebrateƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. It was only the downtrodden and low caste Tamils that have been suffering all through 3 decades by Christian/Catholic led LTTE, Prabakaran himself giving up his Hindu faith. The entire hierarchy of the LTTE were non-Hindus and that was how they were assisted by NGOs of these faiths using their ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-humanitarianƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ status to do further damage to innocent low-caste and poor Tamil people.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It is time the Tamil people begin to realize that India used the British divide and rule policy to split the Sinhalese and Tamils by using the LTTE. The 83 riots certainly is the key to that plan and made Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s issue turned into an ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ethnicƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ one giving India full authority to begin dictating to Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Governments using ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-TAMILSƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ as an excuse.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Indian Foreign Secretary in his affidavit (No 343/96-JCI) says thus ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-the ethnic riots of July 1983, in which Sri Lankan Tamils greatly suffered at the hands of Sinhala community, led to a significant upsurge in public sentiment in Tamil Nadu in support of the Sri Lankan Tamils. The large number of Tamils killed in the riots led to calls for Indian military intervention in Sri Lanka.” ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” this certainly should make us now wonder exactly how India planned 83. The Jain Commission Inquiry report suffices to declare India guilty of funding, training and arming LTTE and other terrorist groups to carry out terrorist tactics in Sri Lanka. V P Singh (former PM) in his deposition on 5th Nov 1996 – “…..the first batch of training of the militants was done in 1983 under the Congress Government. I will not disclose the place where this training was held. It was done in Chakarata. Then in 1984, weapons were given to all the militant groups. The Camps were set up in Tamil Nadu. Monetary help was given. MGR in his statement in the Assembly of Tamil Nadu said that Rs.4 crores aid has been given by him to Tamil Militant Groups. The other information I will not give to the Commission, which I believe is sensitive. Then in 1982, there was a shoot-out in Pondy Bazaar in which a criminal case was filed against Shri Prabhakaran. In 1984, there was a bomb blast at Madras Airport in which 30 people were killed. At political level talks took place in Thimpu and Prabhakaran had come. After the meeting Shri Rajiv Gandhi in 1987. In 1986, the Govt. of India decided to send Central Ministers to bring about peace, among the various Tamil factions.”

July 83 elevated Sri Lanka on to the international platform. Killing of 13 soldiers by the LTTE gave them the notoriety that they needed to emerge as a force to be reckoned with similar to how the Al Qaeda was created as a despicable force following 9/11. July 83 humiliated the Sinhalese Buddhists, it enabled India to bring out the LTTE from its secret training in India and gave recognition to Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s militants as movements fighting for Tamil rights ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” credibility was needed and 83 riots provided that and it created an exodus of Tamils fleeing the country with stories of harassment simply because it was an opportunity to live abroad. For that gratitude the people have been filling the LTTE kitty over the years though LTTE has resorted to terror tactics when people have found it difficult to contribute. To keep things in balance India trained several militant groups and made them start killing each other. It is also a controversy why LTTE would decide to kill Rajiv Gandhi and several theories have surfaced none of which leaves out the fact that LTTE ended up simply murdering people just for money. Just listen to the TNA and the manner its politicians have acquired the art of using these sentences to stay in power and befool the Tamil people. Can this nonsense stop once and for all.

JR Jayawardena known as the old fox would not have brought upon his own government international pressure condemnation when his grand intention was to open Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s economy from the nationalist stand adapted by Mrs. Bandaranaike knowing his army was not equipped enough to handle a military situation against militants trained and armed by India. 83 would have been hara kiri for a man wanting to stay in power! ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Now, the nations of the world are not dumb to know IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s status in nurturing the LTTE for decades and that despite IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s open claims of financing and arming terrorists nothing has been done against India. For a nation aspiring to be a superpower its pettiness knows no bounds. India continues to want Sri Lanka to remain Cinderella in the Indian Ocean and it is doing its best to take over the commercial interests, it is building houses probably to gift to their own, it is creating fictitious situations using Tamil civilians to demand the removal of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s armed forces from the coastal areas (Mullikulam), it is using carrots as commissions to befool Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s politicians and we can but implore our leaders to stop and ask themselves where is Sri Lanka going, is there a country for the Sinhalese in the future given that it is always the minority interests that continue to come first? From IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s plan and the creation of the Provincial Council system it is clear that India is out to enforce the 13th amendment we need to tell India that is out of the question!

It is very clear that 1983 was staged, I mean Tamil extremists provoked Sinhalas. Because, they tried to do the same thing so many times after that. Attacks on Anuradhapura and Mahanuwars temples, killing 40 0r so Saamanera monks are some of those.
Tamils and their supporters sensanaliza it. That is why they use different terms for it and even remembering the Yapapatuna library burning is example. If they are so worried they should remember salughtering of Tamils by Sankili too.
Sri Lankan govt is scared to cancel the 13th amendment. They think, that would lead to invasion most probably by India or by someother country. On the other hand, they know that police and land powers to Tamils will never work and it will lead only to more seccessionist mentality.

If you list the number of Provincial council members that are listed or arrested as criminals, it is simply unbelievable. On the other had, at present, the cost per year to maintain them alone some where around Rs 10 billion. For that money, what is their contribution to the country ? Another level of corruption and crimes. Everybody knows that provincil council do not solve peoples’ problems. It is there to satisfy the Indian govt.

It was obviously planned. When the LTTE stole dynamite from the KKS cement factory the news in the western media was that it was meant to kill army personel so that their would be repercussions in the sinhala areas. The western media was their in loads to transmit the riots to the international community as it happened. Their was however a virtual news black out during the JVP uprising when 75000 sinhala youth were killed. The problem with the sinhalese is that they accept any trash but never defends itself on even the blatant canards. They are hoping the govt will do so, Rubbish. If the govt had the character the 13th amendment would still not be in the statute.

We think that the aim is/was to humiliate the entire Sri Lankan nation, down the majority Sinhala/Buddhists & GoSL, and form Eelam. However, the truth is pouring out re Black July and other events. Tamils themselves led some of the gangs that attacked Tamil homes in the 1983 Riots.
At the end of the day, it is the poor Tamils who were misled and all the rest of the Tamils who are getting humiliated. Truth is invincible. The Indian motto is : “Truth wins”. What more can we say ?
The cry about ‘rape’ in Sri Lanka may also be a ploy to humiliate the nation. Anyone can report ‘rape’ without any incident happening. What for ? Moneys paid and other gains ?
Anyway, it is a good opportunity for GoSL to put Law & Order in place. Make lemon aid out of all the lemons !

I hope the Sinhalese are still not prepared to learn any lessons from their mistakes. Look at this Lorenzo who is a Parangiya or a Malayali. Why cannot this Lorenzo and his Catholic gangs leave to Portugal? Many problems will be solved. Lorenzo, you are a cooli boy and better find a job under a Tamil in a Dosa Kade. Never forget there are HIGHLY patriotic Tamils too who would not hesitate to use coersion to save their rightful Motherland – Unitary SL. They NEVER had a problem with the Sinhala Buddhist majority. July 23, 1983 massacre of 13 soldiers was one of the best organized strategic moves by the ltte to get the Sinhalese to react violently with emotion against the Tamils. Even though at the time there were no digital cameras, very high quality videos of this retaliation were taken and displayed in the foreign public media. A question arises as to how they managed to video these retaliations at such short notice. Video cameras were very expensive at the time and generally it was only the media personnel, if at all, who had them. So it is obvious that they had pre-planned and organized these videos with hired help from local and foreign media personnel.
The underworld criminal gangs and thugs who had been hired to create chaos and mayhem, used voter register lists which had been distributed to them to target specific Tamil households. How did they get these lists? It is said that some of the organizers of this mayhem got them from their Tamil friends in the voter registration department of the government. Even though many Sinhalese and Muslims took in the Tamil friends who were affected or too scared to go to their houses, none of it was given any publicity. Even though the IGP himself and some six other SSPs were Tamils at this time, yet they did not take any action to stop the carnage caused by the criminal gangs. This bears evidence that they too were complicit in this orchestration and dragging on of the carnage so that the videos could be made of the most dramatic retaliations to have the maximum impact desired by the organizers. These videos had even more than the expected level of impact in hoodwinking the westerners and opening up the flood gates to emigration of Tamils to these countries. This was just the beginning. Subsequently, the ltte organized immigration, drug-trafficking, credit card fraud and other rackets and provided financial loans and support to the Tamils to immigrate and settle down in the west. Today there are millions of Tamils who have settled down as refugees in these western countries. Thus 1983 black July became the greatest windfall permitting the ltte to run a very successful people smuggling business and reaping long-term financial benefits by investing in settling these Tamil “refugees”.
It is sad that in spite of the defeat of the ltte terrorism, partly because of the ltte dis-information and brainwashing campaigns and partly because of the lack of any information from official sources about the facts on ground, most of the diaspora, young and old, still remain loyal to the ltte. Some of these have never even visited SL at least once in their lifetime. Some of those from the older generation, on the other hand, have visited SL on vacation and enjoyed their stay, though they continue to remain loyal to the ltte cause. Like some of the Tamil leaders in SL, they have never been loyal to SL and have been all out to support anyone or anything that would ruin mother Lanka. A handful of Tamils who have a genuine interest and some degree of loyalty to SL have begun to see the possibility of living together as was the case in the “good old days”, before the ltte era.
If the GOSL is serious about bringing about ethnic harmony, then is it not the time to make sure, through legislation and other means, that no political party exclusively claims to look after the interests of a single ethnic or religious group? Shouldn’t an elected member of parliament be neutral to all ethnic and religious groups, and be looking after all Sri Lankans alike? Shouldn’t all parties which have a name indicative of a “divisive” philosophy be banned as unconstitutional? Similarly, should any one ethnic or religious group be permitted to have exclusive rights or claims to “home lands”? As Sri Lankans, shouldn’t everyone be permitted and encouraged to live where ever s/he desires to live within SL. Wouldn’t making learning Sinhala and Tamil in the primary school compulsory help the future generation of Sri Lankans to better integrate into the society with confidence?

If someone tries to blame 1983 racial violence to Sinhalese it is most unfair, ignorant comment. Most of the Sinhalese tried their best to protect tamil. The blame should directly goes to J.R. Jayawardena, R. Premadasa and Ranil’s U.N.P government. Very same clique is responsible for six years later in 1989 for massacred 60,000 Sinhala buddhist youth and 600 buddhist monks. For J.R, Premadasa and Ranil.W gang was ready to kill any amount of human if their power base was challenged.
As an executive President J.R Jayawardena who said he can do anything and everything except “change a man to a woman”. They had 5/6 Parliament powers, what were the steps in 1983 Sri Lanka government taken to stop racial violence. We are against LTTE tamil terrorism, tamil racism, tamil expansionism and tamil discrimination against Sinhala nation, but even though no one can approve what happened in 1983 against tamils in Colombo and other cities. If the government declared curfew and enforced law and order in Sri Lanka those unfortunate thing would not happened at all. But the U.N.P government did nothing to stop riots and arson against innocent tamil. Colombo West electorate JRJ represented since 1960. Most tamils effected in Colombo West electorate. Then Colombo Central, R. Premadasa’s electorate too highly affected. I heard that Premadasa went to protect Maharaja’s house instead of ordinary tamils. Every U.N.P leader must take responsibility of unfortunate 1983 riots and it should not pass to Sinhala nation.
Those who were looted were mostly Sinhala, tamil, muslim and malay urban lumpens, gangsters, thugs and underworld members belonged to every community of Sri Lanka. It was similar to last year London riots or New Delhi incident that killed more than 2,700 Sikhs after Indira Gandhi assassination. One of my (Sinhala) friend travelled on that day was looted all his belongings, wedding ring etc by Sinhala and Muslim gangsters at Colombo 6. In 1983 U.N.P governments negligence encouraged urban lumpens to take law in to their hands. In 1983 not only tamils many Sinhalese also suffered in riots. But at the end of the day 1983 incident was a bonus to LTTE terrorists.
Now Ranil Wickramasingha and his U.N.P vampires such as John, Joseph Micheal, Jayawicrema Perera talks like saints and saviours of tamil nation. They cannot simply wash their blooded palms over Sinhalese heads and pass their criminal accounts to others.

No excuse for rioting. ALL criminals should be punished at least now.
But like with everything there is a good side and a bad side.
Getting rid of the MOST HARDCORE LTTE terrorists from the country is the ONLY good thing that came out of it. Just imagine if all those credit card fruads, smugglers, and other criminals were in SL!! Good riddence to bad rubbish!

I always wander why our Tamil leders not able ask some think which Sinhala leders can give (MR said once Tamil leders should ask what I can give) !
I am sure real Sinhala bhuddist ( like AnuD /Leela/Fran) people won’t against any workable realistic political settlment in our Holy land of Bhuddhas Hela mother lanka which will benifit both true hard working people ( who feed their family from tthier own money) in community for ever!

Video cameras of the 1983 period were cumbersome and heavy. No tourists carried these heavy items. Those who try to make out now that the films of the 1983 riots were filmed by tourists are attempting a great cover up. The events were pre-planned and filmed with good film cameras by people knowledgable about filming. There were people dressed up for the event in Sinhala type clothing of earlier times – in white”Jatawas” and white sarongs tucked up as in dolawa (palanquin) carriers. We saw them ourselves. These films were shown in the western capitals of London, Paris and Bonn (Germany), by Sri Lankan Ambassadors of that time, Moorthi, Balachandran and Luxmi Nagendran, respectively.
These are Lesson Learnt for Sri Lankans and our leaders. Never fall prey to such traps again. It is done to weaken the nation and political take overs. Law & Order must prevail.

Look the fun! This Peetha Parangiya/Malayali Lorenzo cries that “WE” ? How come this man or his clan part of Sri Lankan army? His UNP always helped the LTTE and Ranil supplied cement and kambi to build bunkers by LTTE. Catholic monkeys in Colombo never open their mouth against Rayappu or Thoma Soundaranayakam.
I never heard a single “Lorenzo” dead in the war against LTTE but now this hooligan cries he was part of the army. Booooo… but he and his clan became wealthy after the robberies in 1983 and he cannot get another chance.
