A Case has been filed against the TNA

By Charles.S.Perera

One man stood up against all odds to challenge the legal right of the TNA to claim to represent the Tamil people with an Agenda to set up a separate Eelam state despite its sham call for a Separate State within a united Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

There was another ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…”Stanley Perera who did not want to go about it alone, but wanted some sort of assent of the GovernmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  before filing a FR case.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But the supposed to be the best Lawyers he contacted in Sri Lanka, discouraged him ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ giving various excuses with regard to the out come of the case.

Nevertheless his efforts to contact some one close to the President to take their views ended in disappointment. One Minister formerly of the JVP, did not have the courtesy to offer him a seat when he went to see him, and dismissed him with a vague excuse of having to attend a meeting.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Stanley Perera disappointed with all this went back to where he came from, realising that there is some where within the governmentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  notion that it is better leave TNA go on playing with its pet idea of an Eelam, rather than get them to respect the constitution and remain Parliamentarians or leave the Parliament to carry on with their monkey tricks outside.

It is soon after that Mr.JayanthaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Liyanage came forward representing the Sinhala Jathika Premuna to take the challenge to take to courts the TNA which stands against unity between the communities and against ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ all attempts to unite the Communities, and goes round poisoning the minds of the Tamil people in the North and East of Sri Lanka taking instructions from the pro-terrorist Tamil Expatriates abroad.

Mr. Jayantha Liyanage too as I understand has had his share of difficulties.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Nevertheless,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as a true patriot desirous of settling scores with an enemy of his motherland, decided to fight it out alone. Therefore, with the consent of the Sinhala Jatika Peramuna,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Jayantha Liyanage ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ despite all the risks involved has come forward to appear before the Supreme Court presenting his case against the TNA, as he says ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ we did not see any other way to bring the separatist issue into an open discussionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

Jayantha Liyanage had some one pretending to be able to finance a case, who finally let him downƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  trying to collect donations for an FR case he himself wanted to file.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Now Jayantha Liyanage is on his own, he has not appealed for contributions ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ but ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has managed with available means.

He is determined to go ahead with the case.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He is not sure what the reaction of the government would be, but that is not his concern for the moment as he thinks that it is very importantƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to rid the country of a stumbling block to unity of allƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Communities and above all toƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  stop the separatist TNAƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  from all its effort to divide Sri Lanka to set up a separate Eelam State.

Few others who wanted to file cases similar to that of Jayantha LiyanageƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has found difficulties finding lawyers to come forward on a voluntary basis.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Unfortunately there are various organisations who want to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ fight against the separatism of the TNA, but are apparently not ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ willing ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to unite behind Jayantha and the Sinhala Jathika Peramuna, and organise their own conferences without even informing the Sinhala Jathika Urumaya, which unfortunately would testify to a division amoung the Sinhala patriots, andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  play into the hands of the separatists.

It is time that all patriots support the Sinhala Jathika Urumaya, to rid Sri Lanka of the last remnant of terrorism the TNA. If there is no such unity there cannot be a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Savi Dana EkamuthuwaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Jayantha Liyanage cordially invites, the Savi Dana Ekamuthuwa,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and such other Associations to join hands ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with him to make a success of the fight against TNA, and create a public opinion against Separatism and the efforts of the TNA to set up a separate Tamil State.

Jayantha Liyanage says, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦. we the SJP,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  are doing what ever little we can afford ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  He informs that the case has been filed with the Supreme Court and it is to be heard on the 14th September,2012.

Jayantha says furtherƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that , ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ we of the SJP can do things relative to the resources we have. Our main disability is that we do not have a ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ good vehicles to go about and organize conferences. If we have that and sufficient finances , we ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ will be in a better ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ position to give publicity to our ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-effortƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and create a public opinion against TNA.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Until then we simply have to wait for some oneƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ turnƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  attention towards us and the effort we are making for the cause of our motherland,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

I make this article an appeal to the patriots to come forward to help the cause Jayantha has undertaken against the TNA, burying anyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  political or Communal differences.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If these various Sinhala movements have political ambitions, and do not want to jeopardise that by supportingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sinhala Jathika Peramuna ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  would be a conflict of priorities notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ understand what is important at the moment.

It is not political ambition that is at stake, it is the unity of a people and the attempt of the terrorist rump represented by TNA attempting to divide Sri Lanka to set up a separate Eelam State.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Once we eliminate that remaining terrorist canker the TNA, we can go our different ways to fulfil our separate political ambitions.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But until then we should all stand together against the TNA.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  All patriots of whatever political parties they belong to, have a right and a patriotic obligation to come forward to help the man ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Jayantha Liyanage, who has at last challenged the right of the TNA to exist as a Political Party.

Most patriots follow the WAIT AND SEE approach.

They FIRST want results, then give money.

Like with charities, they don’t trust ANYONE in SL UNTIL they prove themselves. The reality.

But some others take the lead and believe in the vision.

Govt will pay a heavy price for protecting TNA dirt.

Exactly! Unfortunately for the western world, those who donate to NGOs end up fattening up the SL NGO big wig’s bank accounts.

Those patriots who have gone forward to challenge the TNA garbage have our fullest support.

It is convenient if you have a Ban k aAccount in Sri Lanka then it is merely to request your Bank to pay to the Accoun t number of the Bank of the Sinhala Jathika Peramuna. Otherwise your can request you Bank to transfer the sum you want to pay giving them the details of the receipient:

Thanks Mr.Charles,Just one article may not be enough to get the ball rolling please keep at it and all the best wishes to Jayantha on his efforts. However,as much as the TNA does not desrve to be in parliament, the international repercussions of forcing them out of parliament,at this moment of time, has to be taken in to consideration.

I was interested to know what was going on with the Case that was filed by Jayantha Liyanage. As there was no information what ever from the Sinhala Jathika Peramuna, I emailed to Jayantha and wrote that article with his permission to Lanka web as I know that there are many patriots who are interested as I am to know what is going on with regard to this case.

I copied the article to a email Forum and lot of them say before they make any contribution they would like to know whether there is transparency of accounting.

This is some thing up to the SJP and Jayantha to do. I copied all relevant email from the Forum to Jayantha to set up a proper accounting of the contributions received and how they are spent with an Audit check etc; and give full information with regard to the Case against the TNA and the method of accounting for the receipt of contribution in their website; http://www.sinhal-nation.org

It is therefore upto Jayantha to organise all that at his end. I can write only when I get to know some thing about it and with their permission as there is a Supreme Court Case and all information cannot be made public.

On a previous occasion when Stanley Perera suggested a similar move to file a case against the TNA, I applauded him.

I also recommended to him that instead of trying to do it alone, or informally with an anonymous group of supporters, that he create a registered non-profit organization, or a registered political party, with a board of reputable directors, a website with open and secure areas, a transparent system for collecting donations online, and public meetings that members can attend and meet the leaders of the organization.

I stated the only way to generate confidence among patriots, that will succeed in eliciting their support and unstinted financial contributions to the effort, is through such a systematic approach.

From this article and later LankaWeb articles written by Charles Perera, who I know to be patriot of long standing at LankaWeb, and comments of others, I now see that the difficulties that I foresaw in the informal approach adopted by Stanley Perera have come to fruition.

Confidence and Trust among patriots has not been generated by creating a viable organization. Without that confidence and trust, no matter how well meaning the people involved are, the effort is doomed to fail. Even Government Officials and Politicians will nor respond to individuals who are not backed by a viable organization.

Build the organization first in a systematic way, then work on the problems you want to address.
