Retired Tamil Pensioners are discriminated by Sri Lankan Embassies, Sri Lankan High Commissions etc by treating them without dignity etc. and not willing to even accept FAXES which are cheaper to send to the Embassies and High Commissions by the pensioners -many of them suffer from various illnesses and some suffer from terminal illnesses..
But S.L High Commissions and Embassies still send their telegrams in GTC (Government Telegraph Codes). There is no secrecy in GTC unless they are sent in special codes which have many restrictions.
I have checked with lawyers who have said that in international law FAXES are 100% LEGAL and Sri Lankan Diplomats and their Chief ClerksƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are IGNORAMUSES for not understanding the international laws about FAXES and our DIPLOMATS exposing themselves in their IGNORAMUSES. We the small fries have to educate Sri Lankan Diplomats and their Chief Clerks.
Sinhalese and Tamil pensioners living abroad who use to get (as an example)
$60.00 pension a month now only get about $40.00 a month as the Sri Lankan
Money has been devalued as the pension is fixed in Sri Lankan Rupees. It will
depreciate more. Compensation should be given for this devaluation loss. The newly formed Canadian Sri Lankan Pensioners Association in TorontoƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ should take up this devaluation of Rupees with the IMF, World Bank, U.N.O etc and get the full pension rights back.
Pensioners living in Sri Lanka are given EXTRA COST OF LIVING ALLOWANCES but we living abroad not given this. Our cost of living too has gone up by leaps and bound.
Our (Sri Lankans’) Pensions in Foreign countries should be directly deposited to our bank accounts abroad so we do not have to spend money on postage, travelling to get once in three months certificate etc. as most of us are old and sickly and cannot go aboutƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to meetƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ lawyers etc. who charge a fee. Even Doctors charge a fee to witness the signature. This is life.
The Governments of UK, Canada, Australia, U.S.A, New Zealand etc deposits their pensioners pensions directly into their accounts in foreign countries. This is also a safety measure so no one can play out the money and we do not have to get signatures from lawyers, Doctors etc as we have to pay them for their signatures.
It is a good sign that Sinhalese and Tamil Sri Lankan Tamil Pensioners in TorontoƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ have formed “Ontario Sri Lankan Pensioners Association (OSPA)” but have excluded the Sinhalese and Tamil Pensioners living in the other nine Canadian Provinces. They all should be allowed to become members in one strong “CANADIAN SRI LANKAN PENSIONERS ASSOCIATION (CSPA)” . REMEMBER UNITY IS STRENGTH and should change their name of the Association. Sinhalese and Tamil Sri Lankan Pensioners should be united the way we hope everyone in Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ will beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ united.
Please send out a circular asking for the opinions and suggestions of other Sinhalese and Tamil pensioners living in other countries.
This writer isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ almost 82 and has not gone to Sri Lanka for nearly 40 years as he and his family do not have the money to pay their air passages.
It is hell to be poor whether one lives in Sri Lanka or abroad.

Why drag ethnicity here? This problem is common to all irrespective of ethnicity. There is no need for this racism. SL embassies treat everyone equal.

It is very difficult for others to fathom how Tamil speaking Sri Lankans in the North think. The worst kind of slavery is one’s inability to think independently. Tamil speaking Sri Lankans in the North have a mentality that they are superior to others and give flying f*ck about what other people think about themselves. Tamil ethnic politics or identity politics did NOT die on the banks of the Nandikadal. Delivering peace, offering freedom, providing development has no bearing on the minds of Tamil speaking Sri Lankans in the North. It does not matter what is done, or what is devolved for Tamils…. IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH. Their goal is not for Unity or Co-Existence… it is to be as SEPARATE as possible…. The spirit of any agreement of Devolution is to foster brotherhood but still maintain Ethnic Identity, but if you look at the Tamil Mentality you can see that there is absolutely no desire for any of this.
Jaffna Tamils voted for Eswarapatham Saravanapavan MP in the recent Parliament Election though Eswarapatham Saravanapavan MP robbed millions and millions of Jaffna Tamils’ hard earned savings years ago. Thousands of Jaffna pensioners lost their hard earned savings in the Sabra Unico Finance scam by Member of Parliament Eswarapatham Saravanapavan who manipulated in such way to steal the investors’ money in SABRA UNICO FINANCE. Look at the wealth Eswarapatham Saravanapavan MP enjoys today.
