ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Right Honourable Stephen Harper P.M. P.C.
House of Commons
Parliament of Canada
Ottawa, ON

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Right Honourable Prime Minister,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  In the recent speech given By Honourable Immigration Minister Jason Kenney in Colombo Sri Lanka, regarding the Human Smugglers, it was mentioned that the Prime Minister Harper will not be attending the Commonwealth Conference due to the Human Rights abuses in Sri Lanka. In fact this has been made aware publicly for quite some time.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I am annoyed at the reference that you will be not attending the Commonwealth Conference, due to Human Rights violations in Sri Lanka.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Let me put it this way, it was the Former Prime Ministers Jean Chretien and Paul Martin who encouraged and provided money for the Tamil Tiger war chest in Sri Lanka that helped to kill more than 100,000 people. This was allowed to continue for three decades.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Now as a Canadian having lived through all that, do you want us to just put up with the bully tactics that you are paving by demanding about the Human Rights violation in Sri Lanka, when the Liberal government escaped any acknowledgement of what they did to Sri Lanka during their tenure. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But Prime Minister Harper wants to make Sri Lanka look bad in the eyes of the world, by not attending. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Or is he trying to console the Tamil voters here by saying he will not attend the Commonwealth Conference.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In 2000 when I visited Sri Lanka, I could not say I was from Canada, as at that time the people in Sri Lanka hated Canada. It was because of the Liberal governmentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s support to the Tamil Tigers that was continuing the war. Before you judge those Sri Lankans, let me ask you to put yourself in their shoes, and see what it is like to go anywhere, and not be scared where the next bomb would explode, or be faced with a suicide bomber, and if that person was going to go home alive or in a body bag! I know very well what that is, as I am a bomb blast survivor in 1986, when the Air Lanka plane was bombed. Canada allowed itself to be repulsed by its actions. If the Canadian Prime Minister’s action then was not a violation of Human Rights, then what is it?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ And now the Canada that allowed the terror network to grow because of its greed for power by attending Fund raising events and providing funds for their organization, should stand back and bully about Human Rights Violations.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That is hypocrisy as far as I am concerned.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Yours sincerely,

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Mal Munasinha

Don’t bother writing open letters or closed letters to any one of these people, just a waste of time. In their country votes and funds matter to keep them in their jobs. Develop the country, they way they have done to their country, then we will have some respect and attention. I have given banquets and met them personally and what seems to be the expectation is what is there for them? So don’t allow another ethnic problem where another wave of bogus refuges goes there to support them. I have been doing some research on this as I have some serious interest in my country of birth. Longer we sustain peace and harmony and develop the country beyond a third world and no streaming out of refugees to these counties, sooner the sibling of these Diaspora forget the affairs in SL,giving no oxygen to the conniving separatists living abroad. Stop play with religions and culture and other rubbish which is not relevance these days.
I would add glamour and trimmings to our image by asking our leaders not to go back in time and wear outdated South Indian attire, which is worn to just fool the people. Unlike some of our SL friends I deliberately move about with people here and gauge their thoughts and expectations.
