Why do they Single Out Sri Lanka for violation of Human rights ever since it eliminated a ruthless group of terrorists ?

In Sri Lanka we are never allowed, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by the International Community and its lackeys, to say that we have done with a problem ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it is now over and go aheadƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  doing more essential things for the Country and the people.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Elimination of Terrorism.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ We eliminated four years ago ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  canker of terrorism that had been eating in to the flesh of our nation for 30 long years, but the International Community along with its palsied Agencies the Human Rights Watch, International Crisis Group, Amnesty International and Navi Pillai keep alive the cruel loathsome memories of terrorism, accusing us for elimination of that ruthless terrorism.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ But that elimination of terrorism we carried out within our own country without putting in peril the lives and property of the people of any other country. The Sri Lanka Armed Forces carried out military operationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  against the terrorists without causing the least damage to property or lives of the Civilian population.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If there were civilian deaths it had been caused byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the terrorists who cared least for the deaths of the civilians, who insteadƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  used the civilian population for their own safety.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ These International Communities and their AgenciesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  who made their appearance ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ only afterƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the terrorists were eliminated to pick holes, and search evidence to accuse the Armed Forces for war crimes are only carrying out the demands of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  pro-terrorist Tamil expatriates, residing in their countries in large numbers who have becomeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  useful vote bank.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They do not for an instance take time to evaluate the war against the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ evil of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ terrorism in Sri Lanka asƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  against the terrorists ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ war of the USA and the European Allies against the TalibansƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in Afghanistan and Al Qaida in Iraq.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Who have killed more civilians Sri Lanka Armed Forces or USA and its Allies ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Why is it thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  no one passes a resolution against the USA and its ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Allies for continuous drone attacks, bombardments by NATO killing thousands of civilians, and killing of civilians by mentally deranged American Soldiers ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Why is Navi PillaiƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  not asking the USA and its Western Allies for accountability ?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Why cannot India, who wants to be in the Company of the Western powersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  even if they by their actions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria have shown to be greater criminals, stand up against the West and refuse to support their resolution against Sri Lanka which is only a means for USA and its allies ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to cover their utter nakedness ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of beingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  cowards and criminals ?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ These shameless International Communities – the pseudo global policemen, should first put their own houses in Order before running to accuse Sri Lanka for eliminating terrorism without their help, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and which is ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ now ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ seriously engaged attending to solve social and economicƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  problems that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ had been left unattendedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  during the period of terrorism, and develop the country as a whole.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Take for instance the Prime Minister of Canada and his Foreign Minister, who ask the Common Wealth Heads of States to boycott the CHOGM for violation of Human Rights while the Canadian AboriginesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  are accusing Stephen HarperƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Government for not granting basic human rights to the Aborigines who are still living in reserves under pitiable conditions in terms ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a racist Indian Act passed in 1876, which has still not been removed.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ (ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ http://www.canada.com/Indian+racist+relic+1876+should+abolished+should+reserves/7781657/story.html)

Then Great Britain and France which also berates ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Sri Lanka for violation of Human rights, besides their unaccountableƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  civilian deaths in their wars in Afghanistan , Libya, Mali and so on, at home they are violating the rights of the Gypsy Community.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The European Human Rights Watch itself ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ had written as follows concerning thisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  inhumanƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  treatment of the Gypsy Community in UK, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦It is highly regrettable that it was not possible for the relevant local authority to find an acceptable solution, respectful of the rights of all parties involved.

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Many of the 400 or so travellers evicted had returned to the area, either to the authorised part of the site, or parking their trailers and caravans along the roads leading to Dale Farm.

As a result, they are currently exposed to health and safety hazards. Basildon Council has indicated that there is a possibility of further action to remove these persons from the area, without offering culturally acceptable housing alternativesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

France is not with out smears of violation of human rights.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  A human rights watch report recently stated, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦In the past week, French authorities have raided makeshift camps inhabited by Gypsies, also known as Roma, in Lille, Lyon and Marseille and evicted them. According to Human Rights Watch, the French government flew 240 Romanian Gypsies back to Romania on a flight last week and gave them as much as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢¢”š¬…¡ƒ”š‚¬300 ($369) each.

The raids “appear to be just the latest manifestation of France’s notorious expulsion policy targeting Eastern European Roma,” said Veronika Szente Goldston, a director at Human Rights Watch.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

In reality Sri Lanka has no ethnic problem except that which is being highlighted by interested political parties, and NGOs Like Pakiasothi Saravanamuttu in the pay of the notorious International Community groups working for regime change .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Government of Sri Lanka is inviting all Communities whether minority or majority to bury their Communal differences and form a Nation of Sri Lankans ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ share the country and its laws.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

But the TNA wants the Tamil Community treated differently from the other Communities, and the hierarchy of the Muslim Community wants to introduce the Sharia Law andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  mark all food items on sale with a Halaal label.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The Sinhala Community is only asking that its historical ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ places should be respected , and wants the other communities to respect that which belongs to the Nation of Sri Lanka such as the Flag , National Anthem and Buddhism the religion with which Sri Lanka had been identified long before Islam and Christianity became religions.

TNA does not trust the Government therefore it goes round the world demanding Sri Lanka to be accused for violation of human rights.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  This is a breach of the Article 157 of the Constitution, but a FR case brought against the TNA for the breach of the relevant article in the Constitution was not heard by the Supreme court of Sri Lanka .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

The Honourable judge Shirani Tilakewardane before whom the case against the TNA was to be heard, did not take the trouble even to verify whether there was in fact a breach of the Constitution, but asked the Plaintiff to withdraw the case requesting him to live in peace with all communities, but the Judge Shirani Tillekewardena did not extend the same advice to the TNA the defendant. Why ?

Honourable Minister of External Affairs G.L.PierisƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in his speech to the Parliament on the debate on the impeachment of the Chief Justice had saidƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that TNA, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ had some meetings with the ( USA) Department of State and one of the Members of the TNA on his return to Sri Lanka made a statement to the media. Believe it or not, it really happened. He implied that the resolution that was moved against Sri Lanka was instigated by the TNA delegation. They spoke to the State Department and they persuaded the State Department to come up with that resolution against Sri Lanka. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

Should we still continue to tolerate the TNA as a political partyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in Sri Lanka ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Is it not high time that theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  are removed from Parliament as they despite their oath of allegiance to the Constitution of Sri Lanka continue to breach the Article 157 of the Constitution ?

That is how an ethnic problem is created for the International Community to come after Sri Lanka accusing it for violation of human rights.

Now the Impeachment Motion against the Chief Justice.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That is purely an internal affair of Sri Lanka, which involves the Constitution of Sri Lanka about which no other country has the right to tell us what to do. The Constitution is ours and we know best how to interpret it and act according to it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Of course the matter was exceedingly exaggerated by various parties. Even the Editor of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Island news paper with his hackneyed style of writingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has completely misunderstood the Impeachment procedure and writes editorial nonsense against the Government.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In the Editorial of the 8th December, 2012, the Island writes, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-..To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Parliament rejected out of hand notices issued by the judiciary and decided to go ahead with the PSC process without caring a damn about a recent Supreme Court recommendation that the PSC proceedings be postponed until its ruling. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ So, the CJƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s pull-out from the PSC proceedings must have warmed the cockles of the hearts of those opposed to the impeachment motionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

The Supreme Court ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ had nothing to do with the Impeachment Motion which is a political matter that rests withƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the Parliament.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If the clarification of an article of the Constitution is necessary it should be the Parliament that should request the Supreme Court to interpret it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  A third party cannot ask the Supreme Court for the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ interpretation of the Constitution for the purposes of the Parliament, therefore the Supreme Court was wrong in giving an interpretation of the relevant Article of the Constitution to the Court of Appeal, a wrong interpretation at that.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

That type of Judicial authority is not heard of. And our unconcerned International Community which does not hesitate to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ put its nose where it is not necessary came all out to attack the Government of Sri Lanka reading the naturally critical opposition political parties of Sri Lanka , the standby NGOs ready to blow the balloons, and those ever ready to attack the government of Sri Lanka without rhyme or reason .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It was not the first time, nor will ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it be the last time, thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  an Impeachment Motion had been or will be presented against a Chief JusticeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  either in the countries of the West or in Sri Lanka itself.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

Nevertheless, that was made an occasion to single out Sri Lanka as the only country in the worldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that violates the independence of the Judiciary and rule of law.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Even Pakiasothy Saravanamuttu had been instigated by interested NGOs to file an action against the newly appointed Chief Justice.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  How far their hatred, jealousy and pretentious pomposityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  take them ?

For Sri Lanka that chapter too is over but not for the International Community. The spokeswoman for the USA State Department Victoria Nauland too pulled up the Government of Sri Lanka for not respecting the Constitution of Sri Lanka in the Impeachment Motion. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ What does she know about our constitution and who the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- he.. ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- is she to tell us what we should do ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Next time it will be the telephonist at the American Embassy in Sri Lanka who will ask the President of Sri Lanka what he should do and should not do !

America already has its own problems, such as its infamous gun culture, unsettled wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Palestine, and why has it got to bother about Sri Lanka which has managed its affairs without America. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

It is not believable how the other countries try to impose their authority on Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s internal Affairs. Stephen Harper of Canada, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ bluntly called on the Government of Sri Lanka to re-instate the Impeached Chief Justice, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-“We call on the government of Sri Lanka to respect the country’s constitution and the independence of its judiciary and change course immediately,” .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  What aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  crass way to address a Sovereign State ?

Then our former Coloniser the United Kingdom, who still seem to think Sri Lanka is one of its colonies stated , ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The British Government is deeply concerned by the impeachment proceedings against Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake. We share the concerns already expressed by many people in Sri Lanka over both the process and related reports of the intimidation of members of the Sri Lankan Bar Association. The motion to impeach the Chief Justice runs contrary to the clear rulings of Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s highest courts and the proceedings appear to contravene basic principles of fairness, due process and respect for the independence of the judiciaryand the Commonwealth Latimer House Principles.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Together with our international partners, we call on the Sri Lankan Government to respect democratic principles and the right to peaceful protest and to ensure the continued safety of Chief Justice Shirani BandaranayakeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Then the International Commissions of Jurists had sent a letter to the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka stating, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- The irremovability of judges is a main pillar of judicial independence. Judges may be removed only in the most exceptional cases involving serious misconduct or incapacity. And in such exceptional circumstances, any removal process must comport with international standards of due process and fair trial, including the right to an independent review of the decision.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They are reacting to the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ situation most absurdlyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  making one doubt their ability as Jurists to evaluate a problem according to legal standards.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Then againƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  on the report of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The USA passed a resolution at the UN Human Rights Commission, which other than being arrogant, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is the most ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-foolishƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ resolution to have come from a leading Nation like USA .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is a shame if the President Barack Obama concedes to these absurdities of its State Department.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Speaking about the resolution passed against Sri Lanka at the UNHRC in Geneva the USA Delegation is reportedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  as havingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-referred to the government’s “lack of action to implement the recommendations” of that commission. It described the resolution it has moved as one “that encourages Sri Lanka to implement the recommendations of its own LLRC and to make concerted efforts at achieving the kind of meaningful accountability upon which lasting reconciliation efforts can be built.”.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The resolution is about the report of the Commission of the LLRC the Government of Sri Lanka itself appointed, and therefore there is no reason for USA to tell how and when we should implement the recommendations, because the people concerned are Sri Lankans. The Government of Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  treatsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  all Communities as the people of Sri Lanka, and in its implementation of the report of the LLRC it has to be sure that there is no discrimination against one community or another.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is all about the people of Sri Lanka and the USA need not tell us whatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  we should do with our people.

The resolution was passed with 24 countries including India voting for , 15 countries against and 8 countries abstaining .ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The USA and the other 23 members of the UNHRC who voted for that resolution in 2012 believe that the government of Sri Lanka needs to fulfil its commitments made to its own people,ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Does the USA love our people more than we the people of Sri Lanka ?

That resolution would not haveƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  been passed if India did not stab Sri Lanka on its back staying silent as if they were with Sri Lanka until the last momentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and voting at the last moment against Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The result was that the eight countries which were on the fence waitingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for India ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ abstained voting when they saw that India had voted with USA.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Had India voted against the Resolution it would have been lost with 24 against it.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That is what our great relative and friend India double crossed, Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  India will do it again this March,.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Soniya Gandhi seems to be preparing the ground for it.

What is strange with these criticisms of Sri Lanka and all out anger against Sri Lanka demonstrated by the USA and the International Community is that they have not really helpedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka in its single handed effort to eliminate terrorism with which it suffered for 30 years, nor after for the infrastructure and social and economic development.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

They on the other hand hampered such developments, by for instance the UE withdrawing the GSP grant for textile industry, and the USA, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.has refused to train several of its senior military officers, saying they were linked to credible allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

But China and Russia gave us much needed assistance both during the efforts of Sri Lanka Armed ForcesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in its war against terrorism, and afterwards contributed ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ considerably for Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s development projects.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka could not then and cannot now depend on USA and the International Community to help Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s development plans, but on the other hand they will continue to work for their Agenda of Regime Change and division of Sri Lanka.

When India was to support Sri Lanka at the last UNHRC resolution against Sri Lanka, Mahinda Samarasinghe fowled his mouth and lost Indian support. However though unreliable neighbour India would have voted against SL due to the pressure from Nadoos. It has become annual event for the Nadoos to protest against SL when it is time for the UNHCR annual meeting. If GOSL stays firm and Mahinda Samarasinghe addressed the event effectively and efficiently, GOSL can go on for another year peacefully untill the next UNHRC meeting.
The reason I bacek off last year on taking on the TNA was because of the composition of the supreme court judges where it is dominated by Booran and other racist judges. The leading lawyers in the country: SL, Gomin and Manohara persuaded me not to proceed with. Furthermore without the nod from the MR government I would have failed miscerably. I must take my hat off for the immence support by Charles, Kit Athul, Anoma Silva and many more others not forgetting mention this website.

“That is what our great relative and friend India double crossed, Sri Lanka. India will do it again this March.”

For sure. Now they are looking for EXCUSES.

    I blame the govt.

China helped us win the war but who is getting all business proft? India.
Singhala boys died to win the war but who is enjoying all business proft of peace? Tamils.
Sinhalese can’t even have land in Colombo let alone Vanni after winning 15,000 square kilometers of land.

They are like crocodiles. The more meat you give them the more they demand.

  3. Senevirath Says:

We never expected Mahinda to bow down so much to India As lorenzo says they do evrything possible against Sri lanka but they are the people who get the profit

Shame When will our people relise this. If China relise what is happening we will have to commit sucide

  4. Voice123 Says:

If I recall correctly MR said something to the effect China is happy to play second fiddle to India so far as Sri Lanka is concerned. GL said India is our “relative” and China is just our friend. Singapore anti-terrorism expert Rohan Gunaratna said we should develop stronger links with all regions of India and not hope for major help from China because we “dont speak Chinese” otherwise India will ressurect Tamil separate terrorism to “punish” us and China will not get involved in a family dispute!

Interesting perspectives. Listen and learn RELATIVES.

  5. Christie Says:

Indian colonial parasites are the cause of all these problems. Fiji, Myanmar are the other two examples.

  6. Fran Diaz Says:

Tamil Nadu earlier Separatist aspirations from India is a huge problem for India & Sri Lanka as is the prevailing Caste system in Tamil Nadu.

India will do what India has to do to protect themselves, and so will other nations in the region.

Sri Lanka has yet to put proper Laws in place to protect the Nation, such as the anti-Secession Laws of India and a proper Oath of Allegiance to Sri Lanka, deporting of Illegal Migrants, etc. At present, Sri Lanka is seen as a SOFT SPOT small nation that can be pushed around – for what reasons ?

  7. NAK Says:

Senevirath, your reading of MR is faulty, he has not bowed down to India, but he takes the challenge to india. Read carefully, He today is going to India having declared that no autonomy or develution of powers on racial lines will take place in SL which is quite the opposite of what the ruling UPA in India prescribed and expect to be implemented. What one must understand is that India has no particular interest in the welfare of tamils of SL or TN for that matter. All what they are interested is their global politics and more about there commercial interests. We the people and our government, sooner, rather than later, must realize that, the more we delay our attack as our defence,we’ll be subjugated in to believing us to be the offensive party and not the victim.

    COMMENT:

    1. Laws will help ONLY if implemented FAIRLY WITHOUT DISCRIMINATION.

QUESTION: What has happened to the Laws already on the Books?

They are not implemented or selectively implemented, it looks like. The State is NOT protecting ALL its Citizens, and the Properties of All its Citizens. That is where the problem is. Sinhalese Buddhist Monk are running amok destroying others places of worship and raping women. The Sri Lanka law and Order is worst than the New Delhi Police on rape victims. At least there was compassion by the Monk, as he did not kill the victim, may be looking for seconds.

    “”
The Asian Human Rights Commission has written to the Inspector General of Police with regard to the inaction of the Sri Lankan police to arrest a suspected rapist and to urge him to take action in this matter.
Re: No action regarding the complaint of rape against the chief monk of Shanti Viharaya, Kalaniya
I refer to my letter dated February 1, 2013 regarding the rape of a 43-year-old woman by the chef monk of the Shanti Viharaya in Kalaniya.
    “”

  9. Fran Diaz Says:

    Insula,

We agree that the Laws of Lanka must be implemented fairly and without discrimination.

The media are there to point out lapses. The public must be made aware of such lapses and they ought to be corrected.

Also, re the case of a monk :

Was this case proved ? Also, a statement like this is not warranted, is it ? “Sinhalese Buddhist Monk are running amok destroying others places of worship and raping women”. There are about 5,000 monks in Lanka. There is just one case against one monk. 99.9 % of monks are NOT running amok or raping women !

  10. Fran Diaz Says:

Also, there is a difference between priests and monks. We have been through all those definitions in these columns earlier.

  11. Nanda Says:

    NAK,
Look at what is happening in Sri lanka compared to 30 years ago (i.e. pre Prabhakaran era).
Lanka is now more and more like Tamil Nadu in behavior of politicans, people, religion, race , law and order.
    Prabhakaran PBHU has won.
