No Reconciliation , but acceptance- No devolution of power, but Sharing of power.

Reconciliation is defined as: ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ re establish cordial relation ship. And acceptance is defined as: the mental attitude that something is believable and should be accepted as true.

Hence to talk about reconciliation as re establishing cordial relations is not what is required after 30 years of terrorism.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The pre-existing relation between the Tamils and the Sinhala had not been cordial because itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  that which had goneƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  sourƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for the Tamil youths to consent to India ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to acceptƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorism India proposed to setup a Tamil Homeland.

But now with the dawn of a new era of peace and freedom after elimination of terrorism, what we want is not that cordial relationship which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ went sour, but some thing different.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  What we want today is aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  mental acceptanceƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  of a believable friendship for which the other community has extended its arm.

The President Mahinda Rajapakse of Sri Lanka has laid the background for a unity of the Communities .ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is now up to the communities to react to the need to set aside the narrowƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Communal Identity to bring together the people into one whole Nation of Sri Lankans.

Those who standƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  in the way of it are those unpatriotic elements who think of their own interest rather than that of the people as a Nation.

Who stands in the way ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a unity of all Communities ?

First it is the TNA-Tamil National Alliance which ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-stinking vomitƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the psychopathic terrorist Prabhakaran.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  TNA has no future until and as long as the Tamil CommunityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  acts separately seeking a mirage of a Tamil Homeland, profusely financed by the blood money of the Terrorist Front Organisations and the Catholic Church through theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Global Tamil Forum of Catholic Fr. Emmanuel, and Desmond Tutu of South Africa.

TNA would be a barrier for Tamil Sinhala Unity. In the effort to bringing the Communities together we cannot afford to have at the same time Tamils with political dreams hatching conspiracies against the Nation.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Therefore the government should consider disbanding TNA as a political party.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It violates the Article 157 of the Constitution in breach of their oath of allegiance to uphold it.

Next the UNP, which is essential as an alternative political party in a democratic System, but that democracy should not be a means to undo what had been done by a previous government, but with policies with possibilities of improving on itƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for the greater good ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Unfortunately UNP in that respect is not the alternative necessary, it would be a disaster if the UNP would now come to power by the remotest of chances.

The political environment in Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  has already changed positively from what it had been before. Sri Lanka which had been playing second fiddleƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to UK, USA and other Commonwealth Nations, with almost a slavish mentality, unable to get even a loan from IMF without attached conditions is now a nation which has come out into a middle income Country.

The Government of Mahinda Rajapakse has thrown a large diplomatic net. In its foreign policy. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ MahindaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Chintanaya states, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦I will follow a non-aligned, free and progressive foreign policy. Priority will be given in the political, defense, economic, trade and cultural spheres to the cordial and friendly relationships that we already have with countries in the Asian region including India, Japan, China and Pakistan. It is my belief that the United Nations Organization and the International Financial Institutions should be more democratic in their approach. We will actively intervene in this regard. It is my intention to strongly implement international treaties, declarations on anti-corruption. This will enable us to act under the international law against those found guilty of corruption, when engaging in trade with foreign countries or foreign institutions. I will create a foreign service which has a correct awareness of our history, economic needs and the cultural heritage.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

New foreign policy of Sri Lanka has deviated from its dependence on its formerƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Colonialist UK, and ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- half friend-half enemyƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ states like Canada, USA, Australia, France, Germany and India. It has got closer to China, Japan , Pakistan, Russia, Iran, South Korea, Burma, and Vietnam. It has extended its diplomatic ties to Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda and so on.

Therefore an alternative political party succeeding the present Government of President Rajapakse cannot alter the situation of the country vis ƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚  vis its Foreign Policy.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If Sri Lanka is to stay on the path ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  progressƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  traced by Mahinda Chintanaya, it cannot have the present UNP with its leader and its painful ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-voice boxesƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ like Mangala Samaraweera, Lakshman Kiriella , Tissa Attanayake, Jayalath Jayawardhane, Ravi, Karunanayake, Karu Jayasuriy, Sajith Premadasa and a whole host of others who are not mature and wise to politics.

How could the peopleƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  trust the UNP Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe to lead the nation one day as the President of Sri Lanka, if he is unable to act wisely and speak without damaging the security of Sri Lanka, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ if he as it was reported ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.took part in a hunger strike organised by the TNA, Nava Sama Samaja Party, Western Province PeopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Front, Tamil PeopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Liberation Front, several other political parties, FishermenƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Solidarity Groups and a few other organizations opposite the Durga Amman Kovil in Telippalai, declared yesterdayƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that the High Security Zone at PalalyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ could be dismantled without any harm being caused to the securityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of the area.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ?ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Security of the Country and its people shouldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  take priority over selfish political ambitions

It is no use speaking of JVP as an alternative government, as they have already lost its political base now ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ standing precariously ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on the toes of one foot..ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Only thing that keeps it going is its ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-big mouthsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚, and the large crowds that come to hear them, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ but not to vote for them.

In other words Sri Lanka has still no Political Party that could replace the President Mahinda Rajapakse and his Government. If as they say the Amendment 18 to the Constitution could extend the rule of Sri Lanka by the Present President and his government for a further period of time so much the better for Sri Lanka.

Who else stands in the way of Unity of Communities inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Sri Lanka ?

There are of course the Tamil Media that is all out to separate the Tamils from the rest of the Communities. Uthayam News Paper in Jaffna if it continues its racist campaign should beƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  banned.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Then there are many other News Papers like the Daily Mirror, Sunday Times, Lakbima, The Island, Sunday Leader whichƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  have no serious concern for a unity of all Communities.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Then there are the electronic websites in the net such as the GroundView, TamilNet, Colombo Telegraph, Sri Lanka Guardian, Ceylon Today, and number of others.

As an example of this separatist media policy the editorial of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- Ceylon Today ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…- writes, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦No meaningful debate has been initiated by the regime to involve the interested parties towards a lasting solution. No constructive dialogue has been encouraged to bring the main grievances of the Tamil people to public awareness; no signal has been given as to the government’s stance on the core issues of the Tamil population in the country ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Tamil homeland, implementation of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution, land and police powers to be devolved to the provinces and so forthƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

If there is so much of opposition to the Communal integrating to form a United Sri Lanka, putting behindƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  their narrow homeland concepts, why keep harping on reconciliation because it was conceived by the LLRC.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Reconciliation will not work as long as there is no mental acceptance of a desire to unite forces for a common goal to achieve- a unity of all peoples of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Therefore to ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ accept that we should ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ unite forces,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ leaving aside the racial demands of a Tamil homeland, or devolution of political power.

Hence, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ what is wanted isƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for the Tamil Community to accept the fact that their future lies being together with the Sinhala and Muslim Communities without aspiring for a separate HomelandƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  proposed by the Tamil Political leaders as a means for them to exist as political leaders planning theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  future ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the poor Tamils according to their desire and that of the Expatriate Tamil Terrorist Front OrganisationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  who have no interest in the Tamil people but on a Tamil Homeland where they would be theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Leaders.

Therefore a resolution by the USA to implement the recommendations of the LLRC and hasten reconciliation is dragging Sri Lanka back words instead of taking it progressively forward.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Hence what is necessary is anƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  acceptance of a future together with all communities working towards a One Nation State.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  We are not bound to accept ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-reconciliationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ because USA which knows nothing about our country, our people or our culture, proposes it in a resolution against Sri Lanka in Geneva.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  USAƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s hidden interest in purported welfare towards the Tamils, and accountabilityƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to weaken Sri Lanka, is no secret to us.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Their primary interest is a foreign strategical policy of ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ using Sri Lanka in countering the influence of China inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Asia.

Another call of the International Community, Tamil National Alliance and the anti Sri Lanka forces is the devolution of political power to the North and East.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Devolution of political power to the North and East is a meaningless demand.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  If it is granted then it would be to separate North and East from the rest of the country.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  It is the creation of a Tamil Homeland, to which even the ordinary Tamil people will not agree.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Homeland concept is a left behind appendix of the terrorists sanctified and being worshipped by the TNA and the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Expatriate Tamil Terrorist Front Organisations in foreign lands. We shouldƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  sacrifice devolution of power , in favour of sharing of power.

Sharing ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is defined variously, as: ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ unselfishly willing to share with others, having in common.

It is this sharing that should be encouraged between the Tamils, the Sinhala and the Muslims.

The Sinhala people have this sense of sharing, they learn it from their childhood.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The Sinhala did not waitƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  until other communitiesƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  joined them to fight terrorism. They went unselfishly head on into it. They are altruistic.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  They were going to rid of the terrorists to bring peace to the countryƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and that ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ peace theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  bring, they would shareƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  with all communities ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ no matter whether theyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  participated in the war or not, to deliver the country from the terrorists.

But in such an altruistic undertaking, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ it is sad to see now the SLMC thinks it fit to threat the government, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has said it will not have second thoughts of quitting the government if it fails to establish the Kalmunai Coastal district office.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

This is how other Communities profit from the sacrifices made by others for their peace , freedom and tranquility.

What did the Tamils in the diaspora do, while the Sinhala Soldiers were dying in thousands fighting against the terrorists to bring peace to the Tamil people in the North and East ?

Living in their comfortable homes in foreign lands, when the terrorists were herding the mass of civilian Tamils like herds of goats from place to place, the Tamils of the diaspora were collecting US Dollars in millions to be sent to the terrorists to carry on their terrorism and extend the suffering of the poor Tamil Civilians in the terrorists controlled areas.

It is now fun for the Tamils of the Tamil Terrorist Front Organisations, to carry the terrorist flag and make manifestations and invite CanadianƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Ministers or British Parliamentarians to their manifestations and make them listen to their anti Sri Lanka rhetoric. And hear shameless Canadian Ministers, and British MPs make speeches in praise of the valiant terrorist fighters who took the Sri Lanka Armed Forces ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-by their hornsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.

All that should stop if any one really cares for the welfare of the Tamil people ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  The only way out for the Tamil people in Sri Lanka, for their peace, freedom and happiness,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is not another spate of terrorism, but it is in learningƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  to live whollyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  with theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  other Communities, sharing in their happiness in peace and freedom, in their pain and pathos, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ living together in whole of Sri Lanka, and not only in a part of it.

In moving the resolution against Sri Lanka last March, 2012, at the UNHR Council in Geneva the US Ambassador ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Eileen Donahoe said:

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Our view is that if there isnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t some form of truth and accounting of these kind of mass-scale atrocities and casualties, you canƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t have lasting peace, You sow the seeds of future conflict.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

These are fine sounding words, if it had come from some one else, but not from ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Eileen Donahoe ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the American Ambassador in Geneva, who represents USA which is guilty , completely and wholly ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ guilty of the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ human rights violations, mass scale atrocities not only in wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria, but also innumerable instances of most dastardly acts of criminal and savage Abu Gharaib prison torture, torture of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay Detention Camps, and multitude of murders in Drone attacks. (not to mention their murders in Vietnam, killing of Afghan Civilians by American Soldiers etc.)

Those words of Eileen Donahoe are better addressed to her own American State Department, as USA deserves those words thousands time more than Sri Lanka.

After hearing theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  jubilating news of the passage of the USA Resolution against Sri Lanka

the Secretary of State ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Hillary Clinton had said, ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦that the United States and the international community ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-had sent a strong signal that Sri Lanka will only achieve lasting peace through real reconciliation and accountability.ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚

In the atrocities committed ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ by USA and the International Community in their ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ theatres of war outside their home countries, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ where the dead ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ are ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ poor civilians, foreign and unknown,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  for whose deaths they have no tears to shed.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  And paradoxically no one is their to ask them for accountability.

In the light of these atrocities committed by the USA and the International Community one wonders whether they were really wearing clothes when they moved the resolution against Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka which fought a war against ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-home madeƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ terrorists within its territory cannot be asked for accountability least of all by USA and the International Community who at this very moment continue to kill innocent Civilians in Pakistan with their ever present Drones.

IS there a single Tamil to come forward and say that now u have a better and peaceful life in jaffna? was the prabhakaran time was better than this?
admire what sinhalese have done .be honest .Be thankful
ORGANISE A BIG RALLY TO SUPPORT THE ARMY AND LET THE WORLD KNOW THAT U ARE FREE
Do not let your power hungry politicians to put u into trouble again

    Never ever ask 50- 50 u are only 18% Sinhalese 74%

If this 74 % WERE muslims what would have happen to u Be thankful to buddhists then there will be no problems

  2. Nanda Says:

    Even acceptance is wrong.
It should be “forgiving” for the damage these terrorist did, just for absolute no reason than pride of supremacy they wrongly assumed due to British rule.

  3. Lorenzo Says:

“What did the Tamils in the diaspora do, while the Sinhala Soldiers were dying in thousands fighting against the terrorists to bring peace to the Tamil people in the North and East ?”

They supported terrorists. Still they do.

I will be unpopular for saying this but truth must be told.

What most non-Tamils FAIL to understand is MOST SL Tamils in their hearts WANT Tamil Elam. The richer they are, the MORE racist they become.

You can blame them, call them racists, separatists, @#!$%^! or whatever, but this is the truth.

Or you can live in a FOOL’S PARADISE and say most Tamils don’t want Tamil Elam, only the Tamil Diahrea wants it, blah, blah, blah.

Or you can shoot the messenger.

    1. ALL the MPs elected from Jaffna in 2010 are Tamil Elam supporters to different levels. Not just in 2010. At ALL the elections – 1947,1952,1956,1960,1965,1970,1977,1989,1994,2000,2001,2004.

TNA (biggest share), Elam Peoples Democratic Party, UNP (wife of a rowdy LTTE terrorist).

    2. Batticaloa, Vanni, Trinco Tamil votes were the same.

    3. Colombo Tamils voted for that well known LTTE Gonason’s brother. (He crossing sides AFTER the election is a different matter.)

    4. MOST Upcountry Tamils REJECTED Tamil Elam. But now upcountry Tamil Mano Gonason is in the hills trying VERY HARD to change it.

A solution must be found that BYPASSES Tamils. The solution must force Tamils to choose either extinction or assimilation. Violence is NOT a solution. Hate is NOT a solution. Tamils political strength must be peacefully UNDERMINED.

We have an uphill task. We have to do it.

ANY other solution is a PROBLEM, not a solution. Talking sense with them is a WASTE OF TIME. When pushed to a wall, or when they see benefits, they will say they are against TE, but the next moment they support it. This CUNNING FLEXIBILITY has served them very well.

  4. stanley perera Says:

Senevirath, are you frothing mad to say 18% Tamils? Be fair enough to the majority Sinhalese. Tamils are only under 4% according to the recent census. Can you please say sorry to the majority Sinhalese?

  5. Sri Rohana Says:

Prime Minister Julia Gillard – Australia (some lessons to tamils of Sri Lanka)

1). Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.
(*Tamils who want to live under tamil tiger terrorists law has to get out of Sri Lanka).

2).I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.’

‘This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.’

(* We are tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sri Lanka, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Sri Lankans.’

‘Sri Lankan culture has been developed over fifty centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.’)

‘3) We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society … learn the language!’

(* Sri Lankans speak mainly Sinhala not tamil, thelegu, Malayalam or any other dravida language. Therefore, tamil wish to become part of our society … learn Sinhala!’)

4).’Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.’

(*’Most Sri Lankans believe in Buddhism. But a fact, because Buddhist men and women, on Buddhist principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If Buddhism offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because Buddhism is part of our culture.’)

5).’We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.’

*’We will accept tamil’s beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that tamils accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.’

6).’This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, ‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.’

*’Sri Lanka is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow tamils every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once tamils are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Buddhist beliefs, or Our Way of Life, we highly encourage tamils or any others take advantage of one other great Sri Lankan freedom, ‘THE RIGHT TO LEAVE’.’

7).’If you aren’t happy here then LEAVE. We didn’t force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.’

*’If tamils aren’t happy in Sri Lanka then LEAVE either to tamil country (tamil nadu) or elsewhere. We didn’t ask tamils to come here. You came for your benefit or brought by European slave traders. So accept the country YOU accepted.’

  6. Sunil Vijayapala Says:

well said rohana! – i like the comments now more than the articles. we need to go beyond this – we need to displace these 3 corrupt parties – form a peoples movement consisting of all sri lankans including expats – who could contribute a lot in various ways to local organisations, up coming political movements etc. so long as mr, rw and the likes are in sl there will be no solution for ills in our country simply because they create more and more problems without solving existing problems. for those who were confused about the existance of a stupa which is being built at anu (one of my comments addressing this was lost in cyber space) this massive on going structure is situated on the way to sri maha bodhi if u take the vessagiriya road from pothaanagama junction – 4 roads meet here – kurunagala, puttalama, vessagiriya and jayanthi mawata. this a a monumental blunder of this foolish administration, run by monumental fools.

  7. stanley perera Says:

Out of the Rajapakse company, it is only GR has guts to stand up to the majority Sinhalayas and the patriotic armed forces. All others want to please the Tamils and Muslims forgetting the majority Sinhalayas who put them in power. We Sinhalayas mus rise up now and defeat Mr, RW, Soma Wansa and SF and find a patriotic front with no intention of harming the minorities. We must tell them that there are no minority communities and only one nation Sri Lankans.

  8. nilwala Says:

Agree with the author that there should not be any territorial devolution of power that could once more raise the ugly head of secession. To date in the post-war period there has not been any demonstration by the Tamil leaders both within the country NOR the LTTE supporters abroad that there is a thaw in the attitude towards the Sinhala majority of the country who were compelled to use military might to oust the LTTE who were not only subjugating the Tamil people into serving the terror outfit, but also proceeding with their terror effort to gain control of territory that was way beyond what they had historical rights to.
The current efforts to tarnish Sri Lanka in the eyes of the world community at the UNHRC-Geneva demonstrates this continued effort at secession using political means outside Sri Lanka. The all too clear hypocrisy with which the West has dealt with what they must surely know are the facts, is deplorable.

  9. PRIYAN WIJEYERATNE Says:

It is very simple as – Tamils, Muslims & anyone else who wants to live in SL can share it with all, but do never ask for a part of it. You will never get it.

  13. Kit Athul Says:

Stanley Perera, thank you for 18% correction. This Senaviratne must be a relative of Brain Senaviratne. Sanley, Even in Jaffna Tamils are not the majority. 4% Tamils was published but no one recognised it. Why is your friend Basil silent? As you say, Sinhalays need a support Structure. At least some are talking about it.

  14. douglas Says:

I agree with Lorenzo: “What is use of talking sense with them”- I believe it is TNA and its affiliates.

Rajapakse did a fantastic “JOB” by eleminaating the Terrorist menace, but failed miserably in “Putting the House in Order” after the victory. On the victory parade day he said “There is no more minority in this country, other than those who are for the country and those who oppose”. Did he live by this statement? NO, NO, NO.. He knew very well what the TNA who claimed to be the “Representtives of the Tamils” did and what affiliations they had prior to the LTTE defeat. Their behaviour was very well displayed even after the defeat of the LTTE. When Sambandan wanted even to “fart” he ran to India and lately to South Affrica. That alone should have given the signal that they are a bunch of “lunatics” who are not “NATIONAL” minded, but wants nothing but the half pound of loaf. MR must have understood that they are beyond “REHABILITATION’. As commented above, only GR had understood it. The rest, including the Leader, have “PROVED” beyond any doubt that they too are lunatic. A good example is the “ORDER” given to the Police to release the students arrested from the University of Jaffna. Is this the way a country must be governed? How is he going to uphold Law and Order? How can you explain that action, other than to say “Lunatic”?. How much of damage he did by this action and did not even realize he is ridiculing and making a mockery of the “Law Enforcement” system. So the irrestible conclusion is that, as again commneted above, is the bunch of MR,RW,SOMAWANSE,SF etc. is highly incapable of “Governing” this contry.

I have more to say, but wish to stop at this short note. Perhaps later.

  15. Sunil Vijayapala Says:

i wonder whether people from the expat community or people from sri lanka begin writing in sinhala to journals in sri lanka to educate the public to reject mr, rw and jvpiers in the next election and vote for a movement which will protect buddhism and the values of majority people. its not too late for that. we all must unite and fight the enemy and the enemy is this whole political system introduced by westerners including the judiciary, the bastions protecting the ‘system’. now we talk like colombons but the difference is that colombons will vote for unp and we won’t.

  16. Senevirath Says:

    stanley and Kitul

    2012 — sinhala 74.9% Tamils 11.2 Indian tamils 4.2 moors 9.2

both J and Indan tamils 15.4

Figures from internet. May be i went wrong slightly….. SORRY……. What i wanted to say was that when compared to
SINHALESE Tamil percentage is very low.

I HAVE BEEN WRITING AGAINST BRIAN SENEVIRATNE AND COLLEAGUES for more than 25 years
Written more than 5 books all about OUR HERITAGE

JATHIYA PAAVADEEMA——– TERRORIST TORNADO IN SRILANKA——VIKURTI BUDDHI etc etc

and the recent publication——-VIMUTHTHI MAGGAor APAAGATHA NOWANAMAGA

do not go after small mistkes try to understand the contents ( thatman is BRIAN and not BRAIN. but who cares)

If Tamil population is 4% iwill be the happiest one .Pl.. enlighten me

  17. douglas Says:

Dear Sunil Vijayapala:- I am glad that you bring up this matter of educating the people in Sri Lanka and requesting to write to Sinhala journals. Let me give you a good example.

I met one of the students who sat for this last A Level and is qualified to enter the University sortly. He aspires to do Politicl Science for his degree. In my conversatiion with him, in his home and in the company of his parents and few others, on matters pertaining to the study course, I casually asked his opinion as to the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. Leave aside the number of people in that house, this boy well qualified to enter the University and wants to do Political Science for the degree, asked me “what is this 18th Amendment to the Constitution that you are talking about. We don’t know anything like that. What does it do and what benefits we get out of it”.

Do I have to explain anything more? This is the level of the “Understanding” of the people of this country. The level of literacy (may be reading and writing) is estimated to be 95% or more and this is the coefficient that we proudly publicize to the world. So no wonder that the leaders both of the Government and the Opposition have failed to “EDUCATE” the people, because they know if they do that their “Days are Numbered”.

Anyway coming back to the question: Whom to vote and bring to power? Do we have a choice? I wonder. So what the people have to choose is the “Best out of the Worst” or try and correct that “BEST” and change the course. I think in the present circumstance, that is the “BEST CHOICE” for us.

douglas – thanks for your input. heladeepa is mostly sinhala speaking people – the murderous colombons speak and read only english and we are not interested in educating that lot, a group with false values and they usually vote for unp – mostly catholics and christians who like to get dressed and go to church on sundays to sing hymns praising the lord, what pathetic fools – i met some of them while i was embarking on my solar project.

no absolutely not there is no good in both devils and the jvp. we need to rejtct them totally and educate the people either to refrain from voting (which should be a democratic right of every person who lives in a democracy) or support emerging movements who proclaim that they will protect buddhism and majority values. never ever talk about slfp, unp or jvp. (these looks funny in simple letters!)

sinhala people need to be educated to reject all parties in power in sl – enough is enough. there are movements which are gathering momentum and now is the time we expats need to move in. we can contribute a lot to sri lanka.n i have decide to live good part of my time there now and i am speaking to people. we need a change, a big change now and expel all these murderous corrupt politicians from the face of heladeepa and bring back our old values and that’s my view. pl also ignore this petition.

Sevevirath, I am sorry for the harsh remark, I just wanted know how you make these figures. I think senses shows different figures. After resettlement of Sinhala in Jaffna. This includes soon after 2009, a group of people came and settled in the railway station. The figure should include Anil Amarasekar’s sinhala resettlement program. Adding all these I don’t think the Tamils any where near 11% in Jaffan. I may be wrong. These figures might not be public because Karunanidh in Tamil Nadu might attempt to stop Shnhala settlement. Again I am sorry for attaching your name to Brian (thanks for the correction) Senavirathna, who is an anti Sinhala vagrant. Please keep the good work going.

  22. Kit Athul Says:

Nanda, thanks for bringing this to the open. The time you are talking about, I was working for IBM Corp. and was extremely scared of politics in another country. Remaining family member did some thing without much over sight. This Judge punk Weeramantry, (Who was exposed by H Don Mahindapala) was given a platform to call MR a dictator. Late JRJ chased him out of his home office. Now you can see many mistakes people make. well Lalith did one as you state it.
