With the guidance of Prof. Rohan Gunaratna, a project to establish Harmony Centres in the North and in all universities and schools have been embarked upon by Mr. Nandana Wijesinghe (Director) of the Office of the Director of Social Development Affairs (Cell 777 806 240), Presidential Secretariat, together with the University Grants Commission, led by Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama (Chairperson) and Prof. Ranjith Senaratne (Vice-Chairperson), and other resource persons. Mr. Nandana Wijesinghe initiated this project and has many years’ experience in promoting ethnic harmony among the youth through the Sisu Diriya National Program (National Program for Promoting Ethnic Harmony between and Leadership Skills of Students from Conflict-affected and Difficult Areas). The long-term goal of this project is to establish an International Peace University in Sri Lanka.

The next meeting to discuss and plan the Harmony Centres (with university coordinators) is scheduled for 21 Febraury, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the University Grants Commission (UGC), 20 Ward Place, Colombo 7. We would value your participation very much.
