A group of Buddhist monks from the Buddhist pressure group “Bodu Bala Sena” stormed aƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Colombo abattoir today and found that the meat being distributed from the location is from animals slaughtered without a license in the other part of the Island.
The monks claimed that the meat of over 300 animals which had been slaughtered illegallyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ including water buffaloes were being sent out to shops from the Dematagoda premises as halal certified.
Slaughtering ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ waterƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ buffaloes in Sri Lanka is illegal.
Officers from the Colombo Municipal Council ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and the police investigation unit visited the location and initiated investigations into the meat.

We spend billions of rupees to import milk. We should do to things,
1. Stop cattle slaughter (this is the way to go!)
2. Use the vast tracts of unused land in the NE for milk production. Dairy farmers should be settled there.
This will solve two issues, the monoethnic issue of the north and save billions in foreign exchange.

Re the pix. It is shameful, to know that more than 60% of the flesh supplied by those animals will be eaten by the likes of the BBS (the term is freely used here) and its supporters.
