Rajapakse’s Dilemma : Allegiance to China – National Traitor – Face War Crimes
Posted on April 11th, 2013

Shenali Waduge

The plot thickens. The ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ of RajapakseƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s are increasing and their baits are not hard to read into. The choices before Rajapakse seem few and their lobbies appear in the form of India and Japan on the instructions of the US. Essentially the President must be mindful of the traps being laid before him. These are no ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” The Presidnet must remember the fates of one time ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ of the US ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Saddam, Mubarak and Gaddafi.

Let us look at some of these options Rajapakse is being lured into accepting.

For eliminating a terrorist movement the challenges before a President seems a bit profound but it is not difficult to see that the entire LTTE chapter was a mere whitewash of a mercenary functioning as an international proxy ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” first taking instructions from India and upon the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi taking instructions from Western forces. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

India has become a vassal state as a result and today it is an Italian that dictates IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s policies. Its very manipulation of Sri Lanka has now being hijacked to the advantage of the West and is on track to create a Christian Pakistan out of Tamil Nadu and Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s North combined on a bogus ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-eelaamƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ticket.

The 13th amendment, northern elections and a popular President are the only barriers to this objective. Aligning Tamil Nadu despite 72million Tamils has been a cakewalk for the West ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” there is no nationalism in Tamil Nadu. But there is nationalism in Sri Lanka and plans are already set to break that nationalism up. People need to be alert and throw aside petty politics and agendas. The country is at great risk.

With IndiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s popularity in Sri Lanka at an all time low, the US now turns to its other strategic partner in Asia and alternate decoy ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Japan.

Enter Japan – again

68 years after US dropped 2 atomic bombs on the cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima killing over 250,000 Japanese in 1945 Japan-US ties are unbombable ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” Japan is one of AmericaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s key strategic partners inspite of objections by Japanese in view of the rise in rapes and crimes by US troops stationed in Japan.

Japan is aligned to AmericaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s China containment policy that must open President RajapakseƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s eyes to the reality that Japan-SL ties or ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendshipsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ presently shown have a greater objective behind the symbolism in the welcome afforded to President Rajapakse when he arrived days prior to the UNHRC sessions last month ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the Emperor means business.

Therefore, whatever links are being currently pursued by the former peace envoy Akashi with Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s envoy in Japan needs to be looked with caution given US-Japan obsession is China and relations with Asian nations are with a behind the scene plan to counter China in Asia.

The sea lanes of the Indian Oceans are too important to ignore ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the geographical position of Sri Lanka is realistically a modern day curse made worse by the inability of local politicians to use that to the countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s advantage. More than 80% of the worldƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s seaborne trade in oil is said to transit through the Indian Ocean choke points of which 40% pass through the Strait of Hormuz, 35% through the Strait of Malacca and 8% through the Bab el-Mandab Strait.

Ironically more than half of the worldƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s armed conflicts are located in the Indian Ocean region. It is these conflicts that the West use as stepping stones to advance their agendas on the excuse of ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-securityƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ deploying forces in nations as has taken place in Diego Garcia and the US has over 1000 such military presence globally.

What unnerves the US and West with their gun boat diplomacy and human rights caning mechanisms through the puppet of the UN is the soft power approach adopted by China and China has meticulously found itself great opportunities in both Africa and Asia and subtly surrounded India with its string of pearls of which Hambantota Port in Sri Lanka is one. In no time China built a magnificent Lotus Tower another gift to show its presence in Sri Lanka. Into this blooming relationship has always been a thorn ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” India.

So the diplomatic space is now taken over by Japan and Akashi is back at what he is known best to do. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Incidentally, Akashi as Special Representative for the UN Secretary General in Yugoslavia is said to be the architect of the disaster in Bosnia.

That India and Japan are taking turns to woo Rajapakse to contain China and both are now using fears of war crime and US Resolution to push Rajapakse into snubbing China which is probably why like Santa, Japan is offering plenty of aid knowing the weaknesses of our politicians who lack any desire to think nationally. Let us not forget that US-India-Japan and Australia have a Quadrilateral Security Dialogue partnership signed between them and that is far more powerful than we can imagine.

The lesson for Rajapakse in wooing Japan too close and probably accepting a proposal to slightly diminish ChinaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s role in Sri Lanka is a dangerous option for Rajapakse to even think over. He may well like to turn to the events of Libya and Gaddafi to see how the US went out to strike deals with GaddafiƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s sons and also suggested to distance from China which ended with China simply abstaining when the Resolution to strike Libya came to the UN Security Council vote. However, China and Russia together are using their full force in Syria because whatever pressures the US is bringing, Syria remains firm and resolute and sooner than later the US and NATO will have to accept that even arming rebels and sending mercenaries to Syria has not worked so far. Sri Lanka cannot lose China ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” China is needed for Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s political survival. US canƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t do without China and China canƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t do without US either ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” but that doesnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t stop either from attempting to gain global supremacy.

What Akashi has been sent to do possibly is what India has been unable to do thus far ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” implement the 13th amendment and go ahead with elections in the North. Probably this suggestion may be mooted as a possible bargaining tool to promise to get the block members to vote in favor of Sri Lanka at the periodic review of the UNHRC in September following the Resolution against Sri Lanka. Agreeing to such a proposal is hara kiri for President Rajapakse.

No sooner President Rajapakse agrees to hold elections and implement the 13th amendment the dual objective of creating the new ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-stateƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and overthrowing President Rajapakse by his own folly would be set into motion. So the obvious plan is to ahead of the Presidential elections coming in 2016 to make a once popular President fall from fame by getting him to implement the 13th amendment, carry out elections in the Northern provincial council that is likely to kickstart an islandwide anti-Rajapakse campaign to project him as a traitor to the Sri Lankan nation and most of all to the valiant armed forces who sacrificed their lives to save the nation. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚

India is no friend of Sri Lanka

What baffles most is why Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s leaders continuously go behind India to offer investments that will end up putting Sri Lanka and its people in great difficulty in time to come. Can we not learn lessons from the parippu drop in 1987, the Indo-Lanka Accord, the forced signing of the 13th amendment, the insistence on the 13th amendment, then the economic leverage Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s leaders have given India is bordering the absurd. All these economic agreements are detrimental to the nations and inspite of warnings even the Sampor Coal Power Plant is going ahead or probably has been signed in secret as most of the detrimental deals signed thus far by successive Governments have been done in secret.

The phenomenal rise in deals struck with India and the BOI incentive of offering Indian Labor into Sri Lanka as well as professional expertise already shows a flood of Indians now living in Sri Lanka. It is nothing that Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Government can hide. Soon the people whose jobs are likely to get affected, the cost of living spiralling because of mismanagement and the useless deals that afford no return on investment to the people will make a once popular Government fall from grace to disgrace ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” this is the overall plan to get the leaders to cut their own grave and they are doing a splendid job of it by keeping a bandwagon of traitors around them from whom advice is sought and who take advice from the West.

If the leaders think that by offering these leverages India now a partner of the US strategic objective will say ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Let them off the hookƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” they are our ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-friendsƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” our leaders are certainly dreaming. Once targeted ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” all the other offerings of compromise are simply to secure the stakes in the country in competition with China.

Whilst maverick advisors have got Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s leaders to consent to engaging US PR firms to build better rapport with the US and that would be like giving the fox (US) all the chickens for have we not learnt how the UK firm openly claimed on Channel 4 that they wrote PresidentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Speech at the UN!!!

The writing on the wall is clear enough and what needs to be next asked is do the policy makers of Sri Lanka seriously think that by giving India this that and the other ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” giving Japan this that and the other ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” giving the West this that and the other and most of all agreeing to sideline China ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” will President Rajapakse not be taken for War Crimes?

Removing or snubbing China will be the greatest damage President Rajapakse can do to himself and the entire nation. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION TO CONSIDER whether it comes from India, Japan or even the US.

President Rajapakse is doing hara kiri by listening to the peace envoys of both India and Japan who are obviously working in partnership with the West in a gameplan to keep China at bay and no sooner China is distanced by Sri Lanka, the country would have lost an ally that treated a friend as a friend. Let the President not be fooled to take this option ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” ever.

Preparing Sri Lanka for unilateral sanctions

The next plan that needs to be carefully thought out is to prepare for unilateral sanctions. These will mostly target the Rajapakse family and friends with freeze on assets, travel bans etc.. nevertheless the country needs to be prepared. We need to immediately plan a proper marketing plan to extend our exports to the real friendly nations and ChinaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s middle class can provide a great economic match for the export commodities. With our short-sightedness in giving India leverages in imports ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” we need to quickly devise new tax schemes to keep the currency afloat. The supermarkets are selling Indian onions and potatoes at a rate almost Rs40/- price difference to the Sri Lankan onions and potatoes ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” why are we knowingly killing our farmers. How hard they are toiling to provide the food for us to eat. Why should we import the commodities that we can grow in Sri Lanka? There are enough of politicians who have been jumping from one party to the other with federalist thinking who even say that people prefer Indian fish? In an island with fish around us are we insane to bring fish from India? Bottomline is our agriculture needs far more attention than it is being given and the State must have total control of the nationƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s food production and supply. There has to be a proper policy.

Foolhardy decisions that have cost us dearly need to seriously stop and we need to get back to basics.

The plan is obviously clear ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” the West is using India and Japan as peace doves to bring in de-ropes to fool Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s leaders and get them to distance themselves from China. This is a detrimental move and one that will bring them closer to the noose.

All these gameplans have a target ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” that is the next Presidential election and these buildups are all timed to make President Rajapakse dig his own grave and that of the countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s too. There is a shield for the President but he has neglected that and he needs to re-align with it and fast because that is the only factor that will save him. It brought him to power ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” it gave him the support to win an ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-unwinnable warƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ and it will protect the person who eliminated terrorism. They do not want him to turn himself into a national traitor by agreeing to the de-ropes being offered.

It is time for President Rajapakse to think wisely sans his advisors.

  1. Lorenzo Says:

MR should appoint Shenali Waduge as an advisor and DUMP those street fighters and other modayas who are his dumb advisors.

His advisors are taking him to a trap. But I don’t think he is as foolish as that to follow them. Not at least when Gota is around.

A president is only good as his advisors.

Humpty dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty dumpty had a great fall.

  2. S.Gonsalkorale Says:

MR MUST WAKE UP NOW !
I suppose Lorenzo will make a better adviser than SW, since he came from YalPannam.

US , UK , Canada are in full gear to put “Kachal” to MR. We have some hope with Australia, because our boys are so smart that they can beat mighty Australian Navy ( with all the expensive ships and weapons) and reach Australia easily. Therefore we have some bargaining power with Ausies and Ausies nowadays depend on China.

    MR should wake up and,

    1. No need for referndums, just use 2/3 majority to get rid of 13A immediately ( No.1 priority).
    2. Become align to China openly.
    3. Ask China to set up a Naval Bases in Hambantotal and Trinco.
    4. Ask Endia to foff. ( There is no 1 country called Endia. There were many kingdoms with many kings. Why this Endia nonsence created by British)

  3. herman Says:

I second Lorenzo – Shenali is a very good choice.

Also, there are many very Good SLs currently in the east and west, please do consider returning to our Motherland, She is dire needs now!

  4. Voice123 Says:

Shenali is a good choice – except dont target Sri lankan individuals of different religions. This conflict is not about religion, its about racism and geoplitics. Love for the country does not have a religion. Otherwise Shenali is alright.

  5. Dilrook Says:

I think Shenali lives in Sri Lanka and that makes her a very good choice for an advisor; widely read and highly educated than most advisors too. But that may be a disqualification!

She is spot on about the plan. Only China will ever take a decision to veto anti-Sri Lanka moves at the UN Security Council where all the UNHRC and war crimes allegations are headed. For India, Japan and USA, China’s veto is the only obstacle to force their separatist agenda on Sri Lanka. Therefore they want to evict China from the scene. Only way to do that is by getting Sri Lanka to evict China. Unfortunately the President is falling to this.

We need China for a UNSC veto, development, security and future economic survival. None can match China’s importance to us.

It is time we realize this than regret later. China’s tolerance is also wearing thin. We have to make a very difficult choice.

Preparing for US, EU and Indian sanctions is also a wise move. It is a matter of time USA freezes our foreign reserves to put pressure, cut exports and snap other restrictions. Yuan should replace the dollar as our store of value. USA must be replaced by China as our prime export destination. However, any trade restriction will choke the minorities to total economic death in Sri Lanka as they are at the forefront of import trade forcing them to leave the island more than the majority community who are willing to share good and bad their nation has to offer.

  6. Dilrook Says:

[Quote] No sooner President Rajapakse agrees to hold elections and implement the 13th amendment the dual objective of creating the new “state” and overthrowing President Rajapakse by his own folly would be set into motion. [unquote]

This is also true and is the domestic accomplice of the foreign policy tragedy.

All previous leaders who placated Tamils on political solutions, and their clans were simply wiped out from politics.

Examples include the most powerful Senanayake clan after the D-C Pact, Jayawardena after 13A, CBK after the Package and PTOMS attempts and Ranil after CFA. President Rajapaksa has more to lose than them.

  7. S de Silva Says:

Does MR have a ‘Death Wish’ to commit suicide also dragging the Nation with him? Can somebody wake up MR before it is too late and immediatelay chuck out the !3A to begin with??

  8. Voice123 Says:

“Preparing for US, EU and Indian sanctions is also a wise move. It is a matter of time USA freezes our foreign reserves to put pressure, cut exports and snap other restrictions. Wise move. The country should be put on a war footing and prepare for sanctions and the internal savings rate must be boosted to avoid lingering reliance on Indian, US or EU investment or “aid”. NGOs must be closed down and expelled unless they are headed by local patriots. All Indian investments must be vetted for potential security risks. Indian consultants and “experts” must be replaced by locals, Chinese, Cubans, Russians, Pakistanis or others from friendly countries. Chinas importance is rising and some in the West are panicking. Unpatriotic or traitor Sri Lankans must be paid money to permanently leave Sri Lanka, sell all Lankan assets and take out Indian citizenship. Even Australia and NZ is moving closer to China. Intra regional trade wont suffer that much.

  9. Kosala777 Says:

Thank you Shenali for the wonderful article

  10. Fran Diaz Says:

Not only remove the 13-A, but alsoI IMPLEMENT the Clause 6-A which prohibits Separatism.

What is the use of enacting Laws if they are not used to protect the Nation ?

  11. Lorenzo Says:

Bloody Endians are angry with Gota again.

“India today disapproved of a top Sri Lankan Defence Secretary ‘s reported remark about it regarding terrorism in that country, saying the armed conflict there was a result of Colombo denying rights to Tamils there.

Responding to Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s reported remark that India could never absolve itself of the responsibility for creating terrorism in his country, Indian Minister V Narayanasamy said the statement was not acceptable.

As far as India is concerned (late Prime Ministers) Indira and Rajiv Gandhi supported Tamils. We even lost Rajiv Gandhi (in an assassination by LTTE). He sent Indian Peace Keeping Force to help Tamils. Rajapaksa’s statement is unacceptable. Sri Lanka is responsible for terrorism as Tamils took to terrorism because their rights were denied,“he told reporters at the Chennai airport.

New Delhi did not support any kind of terrorist activities, he said.

India has a duty to protect Tamils wherever they are and it had pressed for independent and credible investigation into alleged war crimes by Sri Lankan army at the UNHRC, he said.

“Unfortunately, state political parties are concealing that. The truth will come out ultimately,” the Minister of State in the PMO added.

He also denied the Centre was not acting on attacks on fishermen from Tamil Nadu allegedly by Sri Lankan Navy.”

  12. Lorenzo Says:

IF Endia makes ANY attempt on the life of Gota the whole country and armed forces should PEACEFULLY wipe out Endian spies and left overs from SL and CINFISCATE their property.

Peacefully includes forcefully but WITHOUT war.

  13. SA Kumar Says:

Peacefully includes forcefully but WITHOUT war! do not make any sence !
until chinhalavan idendify thurokikal like you We lankan never will have peace !!!

  14. Eusense Says:

Hear are some mistakes of MR:
    1. Proclaiming zero civilian deaths after the war.
What should have said: It is unavoidable to have civilian deaths when fighting a terror war. Keep reminding, the enemy is unknown and uses civilians as human shields. Strongly request the UN to establish guidelines for fighting future terror wars. This would signal we are past this episode and now looking at the future.
    2. Using diplomats in western countries like US, UK and Canada, who are unfamiliar with their culture, social beliefs, expressions and habits. Use western born Sri Lankans or Sri Lankan professionals who have been living in these countries for at least over 20 to 30 years. Refer to what Israel is up to in this department.
    3. Did not get rid of 13A. Better late than never!
    4. Building the Airport in Mattala and the Cricket stadium in Hambantota.
Should have built these in the north. Ex: between Killinochchi and Vavuniya. This way northerners will have employment (something to talk and repeat about) and southerners could migrate to north for employment creating racial mixing and harmony. Move Lottery board and other gov. entities to the North rather than the south. No qualified people in the north? Bring workers from the south.
    5. Not having an eye and being soft on party politicians who are up to criminal activities.
Ask each to declare their assets and income. Any wrong doings? Kick them out of the party
    6. Too soft on people promoting religious disharmony.

    Shenali as an adviser:
Until recently I may have supported. Her recent writings show hints of Buddhist fanaticism. Is that what we want as we close a chapter on an ethnic conflict? She seems to promote “my religion is better than your religion” concept.

  15. aravinda Says:

Thanks Shenali, your articles should be made ” must read” for all Sri Lankan diplomats and policymakers. There is one area I can not agree. You have tried to find similarities with Gaddafi’s government in Libya with Rajapakse Government in Sri Lanka. Gaddafi was in power for 42 years, never won a free election. Our President is democratically elected, open for scrutiny and free media in Sri Lanka enjoys far more freedom than any Western nation. In Western nations, media appears to be self censored. Americans will find very hard to ignite a terrorist group in Sri Lanka. Their next preferred methods are economic destabilization and assassination of nationalist leaders. They will try these now.

Your fundamental analysis is superb. India created the Eelam wars. China helped to end them. THOSE WHO FORGET HISTORY ARE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT. We know who our friends are and we must stick together.

  16. Lorenzo Says:

“She seems to promote “my religion is better than your religion” concept.”

    RUBBISH!

Please read the SL constitution that CHAPTER ON BUDDHISM.

According to the constitution Buddhism is SUPREME, not any other religion, not ALL religions. This is the RIGHT view in SL. If you can’t accept it you are either an Endian or an Arab.

  17. Lorenzo Says:

“9. The Republic of Sri Lanka shall give to Buddhism the foremost place and accordingly it shall be the duty of the State to protect and foster the Buddha Sasana, while assuring to all religions the rights granted by Articles 10 and 14(1)(e).”

So Buddhism HAS the FOREMOST PLACE.

SW’s articles are CONSISTENT with this CORRECT LEGAL view.

That is how it should remain. If anyone tells no religion should be given the FOREMOST PLACE, they should examine their heads.

  18. Eusense Says:

If Sri Lankans needs progress and harmony it has to get rid of any section that proclaim ““9. The Republic of Sri Lanka shall give to Buddhism the foremost place and accordingly it shall be the duty of the State to protect and foster the Buddha Sasana, while assuring to all religions the rights granted by Articles 10 and 14(1)(e).””.

I have nothing against Buddhism, Christianity or Islam. For me every religion conveys the same message.
Religion and government should be separated, no exceptions!
What is the most advanced country in the world which also has the most harmonious citizens in spite of having the most diverse population? The US Constitution separate religion from government and protects the free exercise of all religions. Even with a large majority of Christians, it does not protect just the free exercise of Christianity nor does it protect Christianity and consider Christians should have special protections and privileges. Such principles bring cohesion and togetherness which benefits the country as a whole. US being a relatively young country has learned all this from what was happening around the world. Why not Sri Lanka?

  19. ranjit Says:

Shenali we love our country. We love our President. We like the way our country is going except the corrupt politicians and the Sinhala,Tamil traitors who day dream to put our President behind bars in Hague. We all love to read your articles. You should be an advisor to who ever rule our country as you know in detail, everything concerns our beloved Motherland.

I know Rajapaksa’s wont fall in to any traps so easily as they have a better understanding of the situation as the Government. They are strong but they must not trust who ever is there close to them. Our politicians love money and power. Anyone powerful can buy these corupt stupid Idiots to their side and create havoc in my little country we love so much. Please send a copy of every letter you write to lankaweb to Gota as he fear none and the most trusted Rajapaksa we have in this Govt. Shenali you are great. Wake up Sri Lankans before another Monster swallow us again.

  20. Marco Says:

I totally agree we need some “brilliant minds” like Shenali and Lorenzo to advice GOSL
I will endorse that without any question.
