The BASL in a statement had said that when Ex CJ Shiranie appeared before the Bribery Commission, she had been subjected to,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ‘absolutely unnecessary harassment and humiliation’. The BASL Committee had passed a resolution asking theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Commission to stopƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  harassingƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ‘her ladyship’, in the name of Justice, fairplay and democracy.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
The BASL is controlled by theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ torchbearers of the UNP. After her impeachment, when she left the Supreme Court premises to attendƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Parliamentary Select Committee meetings,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  BASL members dashed coconuts to invoke the blessings ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ deities, garlanded & cheered her, lighted crackers andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ so on. For the first time in history all this in theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Supreme Court premises,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ tarnishing its serenity.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ShiranieƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ has 14ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ bribery allegationsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ against her. She walked out of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ PSCƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ meetings saying that she was harassed, ridiculed and insulted byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ PSC members. Now she saysƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the same thing aganist the Bribery Commission. The Commission had noted that it is impossible for her to accumulate so much wealth within so short a period of time. It appears that according to her the only people who are fair to the ‘Ladyship’ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is the BASL.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
At the recent convocation of the BASL,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the incoming BASL president introduced Shiranie as the ‘ 43 rd ‘legitimate’ Chief Justice of Sri Lanka’. And they seem to be still groping in the dark.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ For the Black Coat Brahmins who squeeze every cent of their clients, a corrupt CJ is a heroine !

I’m pretty sure the author has read or chose to ignore the letter written by Ex CJ to the Bribery Commission.

The charges include the amassing of wealth beyond the means of an ordinary public servant …
I wonder if this does not apply to all public servants?

Oh the drunkards at the Halfdope Bar! More like funeral directors.

Position of Chief Justice is a very important position that cannot afford to be tarnished by bribery and corruption allegations. If the former CJ is clean then, it was only a matter of providing proof of her innocence, rather than clinging on to the BASL to block this investigation. It is unfortunate that the BASL itself has degraded itself through their unusual campaign to block the investigation..
