ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ItƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ was with disgust that I read your statement of May 19th on the anniversary of the death of the leaders of the most ruthless terrorist organization in the world, ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the Tamil Tigers (LTTE) which is clearly aimed at the Sri Lankan Tamil community of Toronto in a continued effort by your party to retain the Tamil vote base it acquired by decades of supporting Canadian Tamil sponsored terrorism in Sri Lanka. You can not be unaware that members of the Liberal Party not onlyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ supported Canadian Tamils to collect funds for terrorism in Sri Lanka but even helped to raise funds.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In case you are ignorant ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Canadian sponsored terrorism in Sri Lanka, I bring to your attentionƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  a few facts to enlighten you.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 1. Two million dollars a month was sent by Canadian citizens to fund the LTTEƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ so they could buy arms and bombs to terrorise all Sri Lankans.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 2.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Several high profile bombings in Sri Lanka were paid for by Canadian Tamils most notably the bombing of the Central Bank where the RCMP established that the cheque for this bombing was sent from Canada. Another wasƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  the bombing of theƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Temple in Kandy, one of the most revered Buddhist shrines in the world.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 3. The hundreds of bombings of civilians in buses, trains, places of work, shops and roadsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as well as the massacres of many villagers as they worked or slept in their homes were all greeted with praise and encouragement by the Canadian Tamils andƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ broadcast in Canada as examples of their money at work.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ These facts illustrate that Canada was responsible for the death of thousands in Sri Lanka and a firm supporter of the mostƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  extreme terrorist organization in the world, the LTTE. The Liberal Party in particular, was responsible for this terrorism for decades with the active participation of members of your party.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ They provided the political backing for the Canadian Tamils promotion of terrorism and therefore are as responsible for the death and destruction in Sri Lanka as the LTTE cadres who carried out the acts of terrorism. Incidentally, many of the LTTE cadres who killed in Sri Lanka were welcomed by the Liberal adminstrations as “refugees”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ which factƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ was clearlyƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ stated in the Canadian media such as Maclean’s Magazine.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ You state “We share in the grief of the Tamil community”. What about the grief of the other communities who are the victims of LTTE terrorism? Once again it seems that the victims are penalised by your support for the acts of the perpetrators of terrorism. It appears that because Canadian governments areƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ part of LTTE terrorism, you are only concerned about the perpetratorsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and a callous disregard ofƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ the victims.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Do you believe that they do not have grief that you ignore them?

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ “We remain steadfastly committed to achieving accountability and justice for the countless innocent civilians who died or have had their lives irreversibly changed by this long and bitter war” – good. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Just remember and acknowledge that it was the LTTEƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  terrorists, sponsored by Canada, that was responsible for the long and bitter war and if you are committed to accountability and justice for the countless innocent civilians, that most of those who died were killed by the LTTE and were from the Sinhalese, Muslim and Tamil communities and that Canada was in great part responsible for prolonging terrorism in Sri Lanka. Please take immediate steps to be accountable by acknowledging to the people of Sri Lanka Canada’s role inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ terrorising them, for irreversibly changing their lives by leaving thousands injured, homeless and without a means of livelihood because of Canadian sponsored terrorism. Establish an independent and transparent investigation into the role played by Canadians and Canadian governments into terrorism in Sri Lanka. You are the new head of the Liberal Party, if you are to be taken seriously, practice what you preach. Also, make note that it is not only the Sri Lankan Tamil supporters of the LTTE who have votes in Canada.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ As for the Commonwealth meeting in Sri LankaƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ you state,”the Liberal Party of Canada will continue to advocate for a boycott of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting this November in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and insist that the venue be changed”. Canada can insist all it likes but the fact of the matter is that Canada does not control the members of the Commonwealth who clearly indicated inƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on April 26th, after hearing the bombastic John Baird’s statementƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ on behalf of Canada and his LTTE dictated policy,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ that the venue would not be changed. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The whole world knows that Canada’s policy on Sri Lanka is based on pandering to the Tamil votes in Canada and not on any principles. A picture of Mr. Baird greeting LTTE supporters outside the meeting venue in London, U.K., spoke volumes. Further, most of the members of the Commonwealth have suffered from colonisation and remember the death, destruction and plunder of the colonisers. Also, they were not supporters of LTTE terrorism as were Canada, BritainƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and the other “white” colonies and soƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ do not take dictates from the Tamil diaspora that is doing all it can to chastise Sri Lanka for killing the leadership of the LTTE and for notƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ giving into the demands of the “white west” to save the LTTE leadership so that they could continue to terrorise Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Finally, your statement, “Canada is a proudly diverse and compassionate society, and we stand alongside our Canadian Tamil community on this solemn occasion. Let us continue our efforts to see the violence and human rights violations end once and for all”.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  That you consider the elimination of leaders of terrorism a “solemn occasion”ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ clearly illustrates your lack of understanding of Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ May I point out to you thatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ you are standing by those in the Tamil community that sponsored LTTE terrorism and claim that they will vote for you if you make these outlandish statements. By doing so you have alienated other Tamils who do not support the LTTEƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ and members of the other communities from Sri Lanka. With statements such as this, you may or may not get some of the LTTE Tamil vote but will surely not get the votes from otherƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Canadians of Sri Lankan origin.
