The Muslim Council fo Sri Lanka Media Release: September 4th 2014
The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka vehemently condemns the continued slaughter of innocent civilians, journalists, aid workers and officials by the self proclaimed Islamic State (IS), formerly the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) The killing on Tuesday of the second American journalist, Steven Sotloff is once again a cheap and repulsive stunt by these brutal terrorists to intimidate the whole world. We call upon the IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, to immediately stop the massacre of innocent human beings in the name of Islam.
Islam forbids torture, harassment and murder of even combatants. Killing of journalists, aid workers and other innocent civilians have no place in Islam or in the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAL).
IS’s attempt to generate cheap publicity by slaughtering fellow humans is a crime that should be condemned by all nations and we call upon the international community including the Muslim world to act decisively against these brutal terrorists who are on a killing spree in the name of Islam which our noble religion forbids.
We also call upon all Muslims around the word to engage in prayers for the victims.

“As Al-Qaeda announced that it has launched a South Asian front, Sri Lankan authorities said it take the threat “very seriously” and would review its visa restrictions to prevent extremists entering the island, the AFP reports.
India placed several states on high alert on Thursday (Sep 4) after Al-Qaeda launched a new branch to “wage jihad” in South Asia, seeking to invigorate its waning extremist movement.
Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri said on Wednesday (Sep 3) the new operation would take the fight to Myanmar, Bangladesh and India, which has a large but traditionally moderate Muslim population.
“We are taking the matter very seriously. Such threats can’t be ignored,” an Indian intelligence source told AFP after Wednesday’s video announcement. “We have asked the states to be on alert (especially) Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.” Experts said the group, which has seen its global influence overtaken by the Islamic State militant group fighting in Iraq and Syria, would struggle to gain traction in India.
Al-Qaeda once attracted militants from around the world to training camps on the Afghan-Pakistan border. But the core movement, led by Zawahiri since the death in May 2011 of Osama bin Laden, has been eclipsed first by its own offshoots in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula, and now by IS.”

“Islam forbids torture, harassment and murder of even combatants.”
NOT TRUE.
Koran (2:191-193) – “And kill them wherever you find them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out. And Al-Fitnah is worse than killing…but if they desist, then lo! Allah is forgiving and merciful. And fight them until there is no more nonbelievers and worship is for Allah alone.”
Koran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them”
This is EXACTLY what IS is doing! Stop blaming others.
