   The woman bomber who blew up PM’s office had a Sinhala name. Perhaps many in the north and east may be Sinhalas who got stranded due to lack of communication and isolation. Even the present day Tamil leaders do not like the north to have good roads linking the south. That is the reason they do not appreciate roads development in the north.

   One guy among the first few suicide bombers also had a sinhala name.

   why Sri lankan media use tamilized words. for example, they don’t use the words, yapapaptunza, weligama, udupitiya thelipola or giranika.

   Now, I see very often, instead of Ampara, they use Amparai.

   I always say, some interested sangha members can help a lot.

   If they are interested in direct politics, that will not work and people will not like it.

   They should be advisors.

   I have read somewhere that the tamils whose names start with “Ananda” are atually tamilized Sinhalas. Best thing is to give the medicine given by the Arabs in Bangladesh- remove the leaders. The rest will do what the government wants. Instead we see things happening the other way as explained above by AnuD. We need to take the Capital city far away from the influence of Colombians.

   ALL LTTE suicide bombers were TAMILS.

   NO Singhalese ever. Apart from media reports, NO Muslims either.

   It is NORMAL for Tamils to have a “Singhala” like name because BOTH share SAME first names and at times surnames too.

   e.g. Kumarasiri, Chandrasekara (NOT Chandrasekaran), Niroshan, Niranjan, Ranjan, Mahalinga (Malinga) are Tamil surnames as well as Sinhala.

   Lorenzo,
   I wonder whether you understood what Dharmasisri wrote. What he says here is that during the early days of colonialism some Sinhala villages in the east (Batti area) became tamilians as nobody bothered about them. What we are saying here is that probably those bombers with Sinhala names from Batti are probably converted sinhalas. I remember the name of the bomber as Appuhamillage ….. You get sinhalas with identical names.

   koviyar means goviya .they were Sinhalese at that time vellala workers became powerful under british and suppressed all Sinhalese. before that Sinhalese had to surrender to aarya chakravarthi rulers . even in udarata some Sinhala people working in plantations with the majority of Indians had to pretend that they were indian tamils just to have a job to live.
   WHAT HAPPENED INTHIS COUNTRY WAS THAT”” SINHALESE WERE MADE HELPLESS”’ BY BRITISH WITH THE HELP OF TAMIL AND MUSLIM FOREIGNERS
   THAT IS WHY THE PROPER HISTORY WAS NOT TAUGHT EVEN KALU SUDDAS DID NOT WANT US TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO US

   Aloy,

   I agree with Dharmasri that Singhalese would have become Tamils during that time.

   My disagreement is on suicide bombers.

   NOT TRUE. There was NO LTTE or any other suicide bomber by that name.

   Tamils’ surnames do NOT follow from generation to generation.

   e.g. Son of Kathiravelu Ganeshamurti will be Lokanathan Kathiravelu. His son will be Ponnambalam Lokanathan.

   In Tamil Madu people tend to give the first name of the great grandfather to a baby. But that practice is NOT strictly followed in SL.

   So if any Singhalese became a Tamil in early colonial or even late colonial periods, they CANNOT have a Sinhala name in 1987.

   The Amparei TNA MP is a Singhalese. He has a Singhalese name because his father, mother and brothers are Singhalese.
