CITIZEN BANDA<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n

The President of Sri Lanka has handpicked & appointed a first\ntime National List nominee as Justice Minister who was not a politician, never\na Member of Parliament and not a public figure except to serve as a lawyer to\nclients and regular speech maker following Presidential elections. The\nappointment was given amidst much controversy and appeals not to do so. The\nonus certainly is on the appointee to make good of the appointment by serving\nthe nation\u2019s interest first, rather than the parochial interests of one\u2019s own\nreligion and co – religionists. The President\u2019s vision and platform to rally\ncitizens has been based on the theme One Law One Country. The citizens would\nlike the Justice Minister to make clear his position on the following & the\ncitizens are asked to watch the Justice Minister deliver on the wishes of the\nPeople based on the Vision of H.E the President Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A.    One Law One Country means the enactment of\na Uniform Civil Code and nullification of all separate legal systems &\npersonal laws<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

B.<\/strong>   Official Language of Sri Lanka being\nSinhala & Tamil means NO ARABIC SCHOOLS\/MADRASSAS operating in Sri\nLanka. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

C.<\/strong>     Equality before the Law\nmeans:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Strict adherence to Article 12 of the\nConstitution <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Article 12 of the Constitution<\/strong> lays down the\ngeneral rule<\/strong> of equality that all persons are equal before the\nlaw and are entitled to equal protection of the law and that no citizen shall\nbe discriminated against on grounds of race, religion, language, caste, sex,\npolitical opinion, place of birth or any of such grounds<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No separate food labeling for one ethnic group \u2013 <\/strong>that ethnic group cannot demand all companies to pay\nto a private company to have anything exported with a label that does not\nbelong to the State. The private company can pay to the companies exporting\n& have labels placed on items sent to countries where that ethnic group\ndemands such labels. It is unfair to force other ethnic groups to pay for\nlabels to the wishes of one ethnic group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No Shariah courts or laws in Sri Lanka<\/strong>\u2013 there is only ONE LAW for ALL CITIZENS <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No separate marriage laws & no polygamy<\/strong>\u2013 if Sinhalese & Tamils can have only 1 legal\nspouse, that same law should apply to Muslims as multiple wives means multiple\nchildren to whom the State must spend for free education and this violates the\nlaw of equality to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No separate helmet laws<\/strong>\u2013 if police require all to wear helmets it is\napplicable to all & punitive measures must be adhered to sans political\ninvolvement <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No proliferation of Mosques and Madrassas in Sri Lanka<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     The total no of places of worship of any given\nreligion should be in proportion to its percentage of adherents in the country.\nIf there are 10% Muslims in the country then the percentage of Mosques must be\nwithin 10% vis a vis the total number of places of worship <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No building of Mosques within Buddhist citadels such\nas Anuradhapura, Mihintale, Mahiyangane, Mahanuwara, Dambulla etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No use of Loudspeakers at Mosques for purpose of\nAzan <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No strategic use of natural Birth to subvert the\ndominance of the majority community by increasing the population of Muslims\nover and above the national average<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     No opposition to enactment of the Animal Welfare Bill\nand similar legislation on the ground that Muslim countries do not protect\nanimals nor prevent animal abuse through legislation nor punish offenders that\ncommit acts of cruelty to animals  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Ban on Animal Sacrifice and ritual killing of animals\nin places of worship <\/p>\n\n\n\n

D.    The citizens wish to have a Public\nStatement by Justice Minister on the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Open inquiry into how under a previous Justice\nMinister who was a Muslim an excessive number of students from one ethnic\ncommunity entered Law College <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Assurance that no interference or influence will be\nmade to release or dilute the charges against a Muslim lawyer arrested &\nheld under PTA in connection with the Easter Sunday Mass murder that\nconstituted a crime against humanity<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Any Hate Speech legislation must cover religious texts\nthat call upon one religion to target another religion & vilify their\nfollowers as infidels or Kaffirs<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Action on suicide terrorism as an increasing number of\nglobal terrorist acts are by Islamic suicide terrorists<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Action against terrorists under terrorism laws<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7     Action against separatism under 6th<\/sup>amendment\nto the Constitution of Sri Lanka <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
