{"id":106021,"date":"2020-08-29T14:17:10","date_gmt":"2020-08-29T21:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=106021"},"modified":"2020-08-29T14:17:10","modified_gmt":"2020-08-29T21:17:10","slug":"ali-sabry-insists-on-bringing-an-end-to-child-marriages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2020\/08\/29\/ali-sabry-insists-on-bringing-an-end-to-child-marriages\/","title":{"rendered":"Ali Sabry insists on bringing an end to child marriages"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Courtesy Adaderana<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Minister of Justice, President\u2019s Counsel Ali Sabry has pledged to bring an end to the issue of child marriages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He mentioned this while paying a courtesy call on the Chief Prelates of Asgiriya and Malwatta chapters today (29).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All Sri Lankans have a responsibility and a duty to nurture Buddhism according to the Constitution, the Justice Minister pointed out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have to guarantee that regardless of the race or religions,\u201d he said further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During his visit to Chief Prelate of Asgiriya Chapter, Most Venerable Medagama Dhammananda Thera, the focus of the discussion fell on the issue of child marriages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Justice Minister stated that delegations representing Muslim women have met with him to bring his attention to the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Calling on the Deputy Chief Prelates of Malwatta and Asgiriya chapters, Minister Sabry noted that in all societies there are those who hold extremist views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking at ways to select such individuals and rehabilitate them,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the majority wants desperately to live together as the best Sri Lankans possible, the Justice Minister said further.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy Adaderana Minister of Justice, President\u2019s Counsel Ali Sabry has pledged to bring an end to the issue of child marriages.
