Ratnayake<\/a>&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9 January 2015&nbsp;<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse this morning\n     conceded defeat to the pro-US opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena in\n     yesterday\u2019s presidential election. Rajapakse reportedly left his official\n     residence, Temple Trees, and stated through a spokesman that he will\n     facilitate a smooth transfer of power.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall\nresults are to be announced this afternoon, but initial figures indicate\nSirisena received around 51.25 percent of the votes counted.
