{"id":108738,"date":"2020-11-16T17:20:45","date_gmt":"2020-11-17T00:20:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=108738"},"modified":"2020-11-16T17:20:45","modified_gmt":"2020-11-17T00:20:45","slug":"lpl-franchise-owners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2020\/11\/16\/lpl-franchise-owners\/","title":{"rendered":"LPL Franchise Owners"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>R.Dasanayake<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>It is alleged the take over of a\ntelevision station in Sri Lanka was done surreptitiously by a company with\ndiaspora connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today we hear the SLC is looking to\nfinalize the owners of the five franchises for their T20 league.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per the contracts the Dubai based\nIPG group has the responsibility to find the owners on behalf of the SLC for\nthe forthcoming LPL .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also mentioned the clearance\nfrom the ICC is a prerequisite in this process which one assumes is mainly on\nprevious fraudulent activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However what is more important from\nSri Lanka&#8217;s perspective is to rule out links with diaspora groups who could\ncome as saviors to the SLC.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Has the SLC in their desperation to\nfind groups with investment ability overlooked this aspect of the vetting process\nno one knows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the Dubai based company has no\napparent regard in this respect the country expect the SLC to be very wary of\nthe real danger here.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We earnestly hope the new sports\nMinister Namal Rajapaksa has&nbsp;no doubt&nbsp;taken\nthe necessary steps to block such entities entering to have a foothold in our\ncricket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>R.Dasanayake<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>R.Dasanayake It is alleged the take over of a television station in Sri Lanka was done surreptitiously by a company with diaspora connections.
