{"id":109247,"date":"2020-12-01T17:15:28","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T00:15:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=109247"},"modified":"2020-12-01T17:15:28","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T00:15:28","slug":"covid-19-277-more-test-positive-for-the-virus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2020\/12\/01\/covid-19-277-more-test-positive-for-the-virus\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid-19: 277 more test positive for the virus"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Courtesy Adaderana<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Sri Lanka\u2019s Covid-19 figures saw another surge today (01), as 277 more persons were tested positive for the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government Information Department stated that 273 of the newly-identified patients are close contacts of earlier cases linked to the Peliyagoda fish market.&nbsp; Following the new development in Covid-19 figures, Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda dual cluster\u2019s infections tally has reached 20,983.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, 04 arrivals from foreign countries \u2013 two each from Japan and UAE \u2013 were also tested positive for the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accordingly, the country has registered a total of 545 active cases within the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As per Epidemiology Unit data, the total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed in the country to date now stands at 24,532.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recoveries from the virus meanwhile climbed to 17,817 earlier today, as 257 more patients regained health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, 6,593 active cases are still under medical care at selected hospitals and treatment centres located across the island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sri Lanka has also witnessed 122 deaths related to Covid-19.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy Adaderana Sri Lanka\u2019s Covid-19 figures saw another surge today (01), as 277 more persons were tested positive for the virus.
