The four sides of this Maluwa \u00a0had the seven Buddha statues each ,representing the twenty eight Buddha\u2019s of this\u00a0kalpa. These statues were placed in purpose built sheltered compartments, as the four side of the Maluwa.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"576\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/wellingtontemple1R.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-109691\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/wellingtontemple1R.jpg 576w, https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/wellingtontemple1R-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of the Buddha statues and the Bo Sapling \u00a0had been gifted to the DGMC abbot , Bhante Welimada Jinalankara some years earlier by his supporters in Sri\u00a0lanka . \u00a0The \u00a0design &amp; construction of the maluwa at a cost of over fifty thousand NZ dollars was carried out for a\u00a0large part by the DGMC supporters from Wellington with the design and\u00a0engineering know how also coming from the same group. While the funds for these were donated mainly by Wellington based supporters, donations also came from devotees from the rest of NZ,\u00a0Australia \u00a0and even Europe, North America and the Middle\u00a0East . Bhante Jinalankara has regular Dhamma talks and\u00a0discussion with the devotees from all of these areas \u00a0and has done so for the many decades he has been in\u00a0New Zealand, via\u00a0sky and internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/wellingtontemple2R.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-109692\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/wellingtontemple2R.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/wellingtontemple2R-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Abbot&nbsp;Jinalankara\n, in his discourse traced the history of the DGMC from it\u2019s&nbsp;inauguration\nin 2009&nbsp;in a rented accommodation as a &nbsp;temporary abode &nbsp;through\nto moving to it\u2019s&nbsp;current&nbsp;acquired premises in&nbsp;Wainuiomata in\n2013&nbsp;through to the&nbsp;inauguration of the Bo&nbsp;Maluwa. He recounted\nthe regular&nbsp;Dhamma activities &nbsp;provided like sermons, meditation\nand&nbsp;at a sil programs and&nbsp;Dhamma sermons via the internet and zoom.\nBhante expressed appreciation and offered merit to all those who had\ncontributed to making these events &amp; activities possible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nwas followed by an Atavisi Buddha Pooja and chanting of&nbsp;pirith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nfollowing morning the annual Katina program &nbsp;was held at the DGMC\npremises. This was attended by sixteen monks drawn mainly from Wellington but\nalso from&nbsp;Auckland , Hamilton and&nbsp;Christchurch. It was&nbsp;equally\nwell attended by DGMC&#8217;s lay supporters.
