1.PRESS\nCONFERENCE OUTBURSTS BY INDIAN MINISTER:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nBJP  government need to recognize  the rights of  majority\nSinhalaese in the same spirit as they recognize the   rights of\nHindus of India. Compared with the Congress Party, it is hoped BJP will review\nits foreign policy in future dealings with the new Rajapakse Regime. .  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nrecent visit of Indian External Affairs Minister Hon Jaishankar should be seen\nin the light of above changes in approach by the Indian government.  \nHowever, during  the press conference Mr Jaishankar touched on the\nsensitive issue of principles underlining the 13A, expressing India\u2019s\ncommitment for the full implementation  with further devolutions to\nTamils.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\nwould be foolish for the Sinhalese to expect  that the visiting Minister\nshould have ideally  extended  an olive branch to Sinhalese during\nhis visit,  to address  the  issue of so called  minority\nrights or 13A.  .  Unlike some of Sri Lankan Ministers ( Mangala\nSamaraweera, Eran Wickremaratne, Jayampathy Wickremaratne,  former\nOpposition Leader Sambandan )and Prime Ministers ( Ranil Wickremasinghe) and\nPresident (  Maithreepala Sirisena) who condemn Sri Lanka on foreign soil,\nwe have not witnessed any foreign dignitaries condemning their own country\nwhilst visiting Sri Lanka.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nvisiting Minister not only met with Sinhala Leaders, including the current\nSinhalese Opposition Leader, he also had closed meetings with Tamil and Muslim\nleaders who advocate disintegration of Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nvisiting Ministers comments during the press conference relating to the 13A\nshould and must not be ignored.<\/strong>  The visiting\nMinister was trying to walk on the eggs very diplomatically, without offending\nIndian Tamils in India, Tamils in Sri Lanka and Tamils in the world. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But\n Jaishankar has touched on an extremely sensitive issue  and has\noffended the majority Sinhalese.<\/strong>  It is now clear,\nhis primary motive of the trip  had nothing to do with assisting Sri Lanka\nwith Covid injections made in India.  His visit had nothing to do with the\nextension of economic co-operation between the two nations.  But his visit\nhas the unique features of discussing the Tamils rights  as a prelude to\nthe new draft constitution.   This was his Agenda even before he left\nIndia, other issues were painted to make it very glossy,\n  camouflage  in order to appease  ( or fool )Sinhalese.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even\nthough we do not endorse  the act of one courageous Sailor and an\nastrologer Wijemini Vijitha Rohana  on 30 July 1987, it should be\nremembered that Sinhalese are not fools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.\nHARD ROAD TO ECONOMIC RECOVERY:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2020\nwas an extremely bad year for Sri Lanka.  Its economy contracted by 3.9%.\nBut unprecedented macro  and micro economic reforms carried out by the\nPresident  and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka did apply  breaks on the\ndownward trend.   According to World Bank Global Outlook\nReport,   Sri Lanka is projected to achieve  a turnaround\nof  massive 7.2% GDP growth ( negative  3.9 plus positive 3.3) in\n2021. The world bank projections for  2021   far exceed the GDP\n% of  2017 and 2018, which were 3.6% and 3.3%.  Larger economies like\nIndia is projected to continue negative growth into 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Large\nvolume of currency notes were printed by the current -government, mainly to\nmeet the demands of cash distribution of Rs 5,000 each for covid  relief\nperiod.   If Rs 25,000 had been paid as suggested by the so-called\nClayton Economic Graduate of London School of Economics,  Mr Sajith\nPremadasa, the economy would have been ruined for many more years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONCLUSION:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

United\nNations Human Right Council is to take up the issue of Tamils Rights once again\nin March  this year. Our unpatriotic Tamil Leaders are already sharpening\nknives.  The Indian External Affairs Minister\u2019s comments during his visit\nunderscore the perpetual tension between Sinhalese and Tamils, attempting to\nforce the hands of new Leadership of Sri Lanka.  India must stop trying to\nget a leverage on Sri Lanka . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nSri Lankan government need to affirm that there will be no room for any\nfeatures similar to 13A  in the   proposed  draft\nconstitution.  The government must issue these policy directives to the\nRomesh de Silva panel of experts. In the interim 21A should be brought in to\nscrap 13A.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nRajapakse Regime is capable of running parallel two Agenda\u2019s simultaneously,\nnamely economy and non-devolution of power.  We are over-governed, not\nonly Sri Lanka should scrap outdated Circulars, Administrative and Financial\nRegulations, it must also do away with excessive administrative institutions,\nsuch as Governors, Chief Ministers, Provincial Councils.    The\nlocal governments and municipal councils are adequate for  Sri Lanka,\ndirectly supervised by the central government. Lets run a lean and mean\ncountry, no fat-meat only!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nprojected economic recovery is a good news, but failure to scrap 13A will be a\nbad news for  the government.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
