Publishing a\ncollection of short stories written by people of Sri Lankan origin living in\nAustralia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling for\nContributions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Writers Guild of Sinhalese\nCultural Forum of NSW Inc has launched a project to publish a collection of\nshort stories written by people of Sri Lankan origin living in Australia. The\naims of the project are as follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. To establish and foster a literary link between the\nvarious community groups with Sri Lankan heritage living in Australia<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. To establish and foster a literary link between the\npeople\nof Sri Lankan origin living in Australia\nand the multicultural Australia<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. To take diasporic Sri Lankan literature produced in\nAustralia to the global audience<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is intended that this\nproposed collection of short stories is published in Australia first in hard\ncopy targeting the Australian readers and at a later stage as an eBook\ntargeting the global audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We now call upon people of Sri\nLankan origin living in Australia to send in their short stories to be\nconsidered for inclusion in the proposed collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selection\ncriteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.     The writers of short stories\nmust be people of Sri Lankan origin living in Australia<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.     The creations must depict life\nin Australia by people of Sri Lankan origin<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.     Short stories must be written\nin English<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.     There are no strict\nlimitations on length, but it is expected that a short story would not go\nbeyond five-pages of A4 size in length, typed in 12-point arial font.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nsection process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All\nsubmitted short stories will be blind reviewed by a panel of reviewers appointed\nby the Writers Guild. The criteria used will be: (i) the literary value of the\nsubmissions and (ii) representation of migrant life in Australia in the\nsubmissions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Selected short stories will go\nunder an editing process, where applicable, by an editorial board appointed by\nthe Writers Guild to prepare manuscript for publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Writers will be consulted in each step of this\nselection and editing process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
