Britain was colonizing, enslaving Asian people before WW2.\nThe British Empire ruled South Asia for 180 years. Though Japan lost WW2,\nhowever it was the consequence of Japan\u2019s entry to war in December 1941 with\nits attack on Pearl Harbour that all S E Asian countries and  South Asian\ncountries achieved their long hoped for independence from the Western\ncolonial powers within 15 years after the end of the War. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the famous British historian\nArnold Toynbee said:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan\nput an end to West\u2019s colonialism in Asia once and for all\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\nNovember 14, 2018, a meeting was held  <\/strong>on the\npremises of the Japanese Parliament (Diet) Building<\/strong> in Tokyo,\nJapan to commemorate the 100th<\/sup> Anniversary of Japan\u2019s Proposal\nfor the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, sponsored by the Japanese Society\nfor the Dissemination of Historical Fact. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Three speakers made\npresentations at this meeting: Mr. Senaka Weeraratna, Attorney at Law, from Sri\nLanka, Mr. Kase Hideaki, Foreign Affairs commentator and President of the\nSociety, and Dr. Yamashita Eiji, Professor Emeritus, Osaka City University.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Mr.\nSenaka Weeraratna was the keynote speaker at this meeting.  He\nstated: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>I am here today not only to share my thoughts on what\nneeds to be done to rectify a blatant historical injustice done to the leaders\nand people of Japan in the aftermath of the Second World War, through\nmanipulation of the media and the writing of history, but also to fulfill a\nlong overdue duty, as a Buddhist Sinhalese from Sri Lanka, as a representative\nof South Asia and a fellow Asian, to thank Japan for setting in motion a\nphenomenal process that brought about the liberation of Asia from Western colonial\ndomination.\u201d<\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
