The\nCardinal is quite openly playing politics.   He plan to sit on\njudgement to determine the list of accused, if the accusers earmarked by the\nCardinal are not listed, he will reject the Report outright.  He is\nbehaving like King Kekille.  <\/strong>The Attorney General is determined to\nbring in the case substantiated by Rule of Law within the Evidence Ordinance.\nUnlike in any other terrorist attack in Sri Lanka, the Easter attack incident\nhad three  inquiries, viz. Parliamentary Select Committee, Presidential\nCommission and the investigations of the CID.   A case of this\nmagnitude cannot be brought before the court, simply to seek popularity or\nsatisfy certain groups, which will result in negative results.  We have\nwitnessed several such cases via FCID by the former regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As\na religious leader it is a shame that the Cardinal  is angry and wish to\npunish suspected criminals regardless of availability of evidence.  \nIf a copy of this Report is given to the Cardinal, than the President would be\ncreating a precedent for future outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\ngovernment is handling an extremely complicated issue  within the legal\nframework of the country.   Sri Lanka had so many terrorists attacks,\nincluding bomb attacks on religious venues.   The Easter Attack is no\nexception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nCardinal need to be patient without acting with a high-hand.  The\ngovernment will follow the established local and international norms to book\nthe culprits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A religious leader should not seek\nvengeance!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
