Politicians bellow rhetoric, making propaganda mountains out\nof molehills of achievements, whilst our beautiful island nation of\nphenomenal potential aimlessly drifts, forever the land of tomorrow. Given\nrecent talk about granting licences to Indian fishermen (i.e. CRIMINALS) and\nholding elections for parasitic PCs, one wonders when Sri Lanka will be allowed\nto thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s have one law and actual progress for Sri Lanka. I\nbelieve that these two Constitutional proposals submitted by concerned citizens\n(members of the public) would be of interest for genuine patriots to read and\nshare. Two proposals for a Constitution which:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. removes the 13A<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. removes the illegal Indo Lanka Accord<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. settles Sinhalese, Tamils, Moors and Burghers across the island\nsuch that there is social mixing, communal harmony and zero ethnic enclaves<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. imposes one law across the entire country and restores Section\n29 of the Soulsbury Constitution preventing any form of discrimination or\nprivilege conferred on one that is not applicable to another<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. imposes the Rule of law<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. restores sanity, meritocracy and independence to all branches\nof the public service and obliterates politicisation of the country<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. bans ethnic parties<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. bans the criminal, or the corrupt from holding seats, or\nofficial positions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. ensures lean government<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. ensures recognition of Sinhala as the de jure national\nlanguage, the Buddhist philosophy and the unitary state structure. Adopts\nSingapore’s official language policy approach and utilises English as a medium\nof instruction and official and working language<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11. Option 1 has a directly elected ceremonial President that is\nreserved\/rotated amongst all communities (like in Singapore). Option 1 has an\nExecutive Prime Minister** (like in Singapore).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

12. ensures a limited Cabinet of 18 Ministers (with no more than 9\nParliamentary secretaries\/deputies),<\/p>\n\n\n\n

13. a Parliament of 101 (first past the post) and Senate of 60 (a\nrevising chamber akin to the House of Lords). There is zero devolution\nwhatsoever. There is an age limit on contesting any election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

14. adopts the principle of “to be, not to be and to no\nlonger be” with rules for qualifications and disqualifications to be an\nMP. Crossovers are forbidden and result in a by election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

15. Option 2 has an Executive President (with Cabinet picked from\noutside the Legislature to ensure separation of powers)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

16. Restores the original Lion flag and name of the country<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also categorically protect property rights, ensure efficiency\nin administration and sound business laws to get this nation moving again. With\nsuch a system in place, we\ncan become another East Asian style powerhouse in next to no time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
