A vaccination program was also launched at the Narahenpita Abhayaramaya temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has so far received 1.1 million doses of Chinese-made Sinopharm vaccine, and its first dose had been given to 80,031 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Army Commander General Shavendra Silva stated that a special program is planned to administer the second dose of Sinopharm vaccine from June 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>65,000 doses of Russian made Sputnik V have been received in Sri Lanka and the number of people who have received the first dose is 14,984.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Sputnik vaccine will be available to the public in the Kandy District from tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, 1,264,000 doses of Covishield vaccine have been received in the country and the first dose has been given to 925,242 persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the number of doses remaining is 338,758, according to the Epidemiology Unit, 343,293 people have been given the second dose of the Covshield vaccine as of yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If so, it is questionable as to how the first or second dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca Covshield vaccine has been given to 4535 people in excess of its availability. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy Hiru News The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has written to the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Asela Gunawardena, requesting that a proper document with prioritized list and appropriate practical methodology for covid vaccination to be prepared and made public.
