They\nsay people living in glass houses should not throw stones. Canada has been one\nof the staunchest proponents of unsubstantiated allegations against Sri Lanka,\nsimply because a handful of LTTE lobbyists have learnt the art of influencing\nthem through means only they would know &unlikely to admit. In accusing Sri\nLanka of genocide and what not, we would expect the accusers to be squeaky\nclean. Not so\u2026. daily skeletons (pun intended) are coming out of graves of\nchildren killed. These are not just one or two incidents but systematic &\nplanned killings & abuse of indigenous children. It certainly dampens the\nfictitious image Canada tries to portray itself and should remind Canada\nwithout cleaning its own backyard, Canada should not try to clean others. It\nshould also wake Canada up to some ground realities of molly-cuddling with\nterrorists also.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada\nis a created country. Canada was established in 1867. Canada\u2019s history is\ntherefore just 154years. That is less than the years the Portuguese ruled parts\nof Sri Lanka!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though\nthe whites took claim over Canada, Canada was inhabited by indigenous people\nfor over 12,000 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canada\nthat is demanding Sri Lanka remove its penal codes, internal laws etc continues\nthe 1876 passed Indian Act. The Act allows the Canadian government to define\nwho an \u2018Indian\u2019 is, after which you gain \u2018Status\u2019. Canada that boasts about\nequality still decides who they call an \u2018Indian\u2019 and gives status to and linked\nto the \u2018rights\u2019 they enjoy ! The Indian Act does not include the Metis &\nInuit people, who are known as \u2018non-Status Indians\u2019 and yes, Canada dictates\nhow Sri Lanka treats its \u2018minorities\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nCanada that accuses Sri Lanka of disenfranchising the Indian Tamils imported by\ncolonials, have denied Status Indians their legal & ancestral identities\nvia Canada\u2019s Indian Act! First Nations women lost their Indian Status if they\nmarried a non-Status man Their children suffered too! The Indian Act also\ndenied First Nations women from voting & running for elections. But Canada\nhas no problem with LTTE proxies running for elections! Status Indians could\nvote only in 1960! Sri Lanka\u2019s Sirimavo Bandaranaike became the world\u2019s first\nfemale PM in 1960!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nCanada that demands rehabilitated LTTE be inducted into the armed forces &\npolice, denies Inuits & Metis women serving the Canadian armed forces,\ngetting college & university degrees or becoming a professional\n(doctor\/lawyer) How many know what happened to Indigenous Tommy Prince, who\ninspite becoming a decorated Canadian war hero, faced systematic racism after\nreturning to his \u2018home\u2019. Not only was he not able to vote but he was not\ntreated like the other white veterans. Shocking!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In\ntheir own habitat they were declared \u2018citizens\u2019 only in 1951, in their homeland\ntheir land was usurped and made to live on \u2018reserved\u2019 land and until early\n1900s they had to even get permission to leave these areas with passes. These\nreserve areas still exist & are governed by the Indian Act \u2013 no wonder\nCanada is supporting LTTE to usurp land & create a bogus homeland!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nResidential School system to \u2018solve\u2019 the Indian problem and force indigenous to\nassimilate was another example of the \u2018white man\u2019s burden\u2019 having usurped and\nstolen lands belonging to others and then determining who rules & on whose\nterms! These schools were operational from 1600s far before Canada per se was\ncreated! The Residential School in Saskatchewan closed only in 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
