Firstly, Canada takes pride in throwing\negg at other nations quoting human rights, democracy &amp; freedoms but back\nhome, Canada has been treating the natives of Canada inhumanely where\nassimilation schools have ended up graveyards of slain &amp; buried children.\nCanada spearheads the attack against Sri Lanka siding with terrorist LTTE &amp;\ntheir supporters in Canada. It is no surprise both are not only partners in\ncrime but attempt to hide their guilt by diverting attention elsewhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada\nis a created country based on the principle of terra nullius. It calls itself\nmulticultural because the success of Canada is due to immigrants who arrived to\nlive &amp; work there. Canada has to call itself \u2018multicultural\u2019 because Canada\nmust acknowledge the role of immigrants in building Canada. While modern Canada\nowes its success to immigrants, Canada was very much occupied by aboriginal\npeople. Canada\u2019s rich status comes from the resources of stolen lands. The\npolicy or goal behind the papal bulls &amp; royal decree to \u2018discover\u2019 &amp;\ntake over occupied lands is the same theory Hitler adopted \u2013 eliminate those\nthat are not of your \u2018blood\u2019 and take over their lands!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1492 : Canada stolen from\nNatives<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nnatives of Canada have been living for over 12,000 years in Canada (scientific\ndiscovery of bones\/artefacts) There is a link to Asia as at one time Asia &amp;\nNorth America were connected (Bering Sea\/Russia &amp; Alaska)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1492\nsaw invasion by Europe resulting in a human holocaust. Scientists estimate\n4-4.5m deaths with only 600,000 indigenous remaining in US by 1800. It is\nestimated that the total natives covering American Indians, natives of Alaska,\nnatives of Hawaii total 7.5million. Paul Rivet claims 40-50m people lived in\nthe Americas before 1492 while estimates vary. Whatever the numbers what is\ncertain is that the natives were eliminated in order to take over their lands.\nThis was immediate-colonial holocaust. Then a further holocaust took place to\nensure the settlers were supreme. The last and most unforgiveable holocaust was\nthe manner natives were systematically targeted by those that claimed to be\n\u2018civilized\u2019 and came to \u2018civilize\u2019 the natives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is the Indian Act \/\nGradual Civilization Act (1857) \/ Gradual Enfranchisement Act (1869)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A body of laws that define who\nan \u2018Indian\u2019 is by the federal government of US &amp; Canada. In Canada, the\nIndian Act authorizes the Canadian federal government to regulate &amp; administer\nday to day lives of registered Indians &amp; reserve communities even how they\npractice their culture &amp; traditions. The Indian Act allows Canada to\ndetermine land base while the Gradual Enfranchisement Act allowed the\nSuperintendent General of Indian Affairs to even decide if a widow of an\nenfranchised Indian was respectable\u201d enough to keep her children. In 1979 the\nCanadian government was taken to court claiming Section 12 of the Indian Act\nviolated the Canadian Bill of Rights but the Canadian Supreme Court declared\notherwise. However, in 1981 the UN Human Rights Committee declared Canada had\nbreached the Covenant on Civil &amp; Political Rights.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Canadian Human Rights Act\nof 1977 specifically prohibited First Nation people from filing official\ncomplaint that the Indian Act was a human rights violation. How great Canada\nhuman rights are! It was only in 2008 that this section was repealed from the\nCanadian Human Rights Act.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Indian Act (with\namendments) continues to exist and is the only colonial legislation aimed at\nassimilating &amp; controlling a specific group of people. So what tosh is\nCanada preaching to the world about \u2018multiculturalism\u2019 &amp; reconciliation?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Canada appointed a Truth &amp; Reconciliation\nCommission in 2015. Did this Commission deliver justice to the victims?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Canada\u2019s natives are called\nIndians (1865),&nbsp;In 1982 \u2018aboriginal\u2019included Indian, Inuit &amp; Metis\npeople in Canada.&nbsp;<\/strong>Aboriginal people accounted for 3.8% of\nthe population enumerated in the 2006. Aboriginal people numbered 1.4 million\nin 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eight in ten Aboriginal people live in Ontario and the western\nprovinces. Ontario was the province where the largest number of Aboriginal\npeople lived, 301,425 people, representing 21.5% of the total Aboriginal\npopulation. How many are treated equally &amp; on par with Canadians?&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www12.statcan.gc.ca\/nhs-enm\/2011\/as-sa\/99-011-x\/99-011-x2011001-eng.cfm\">https:\/\/www12.statcan.gc.ca\/nhs-enm\/2011\/as-sa\/99-011-x\/99-011-x2011001-eng.cfm<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The discriminations the First\nNation people are subject to&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/publications.gc.ca\/Collection-R\/LoPBdP\/BP\/bp175-e.htm\">https:\/\/publications.gc.ca\/Collection-R\/LoPBdP\/BP\/bp175-e.htm<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1828 Canada operated over 169 Residential Schools for\nindigenous children. Children were removed from their families and culture and\nforced to learn English, embrace Christianity and adopt the customs of the\ncountry\u2019s white majority (assimilation programs) Systematic physical, sexual\nand psychological abuse was widespread within the residential school system&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/opentextbc.ca\/geography\/chapter\/4-4-case-study\/\">https:\/\/opentextbc.ca\/geography\/chapter\/4-4-case-study\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Indian_residential_schools_in_Canada\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_Indian_residential_schools_in_Canada<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwac.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Residential-Schools-Fact-Sheet.pdf\">https:\/\/www.nwac.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Residential-Schools-Fact-Sheet.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www150.statcan.gc.ca\/n1\/pub\/89-653-x\/89-653-x2019004-eng.htm\">https:\/\/www150.statcan.gc.ca\/n1\/pub\/89-653-x\/89-653-x2019004-eng.htm<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>60% of Indigenous workers feel emotionally unsafe on the job&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/business\/60-per-cent-of-indigenous-workers-feel-emotionally-unsafe-on-the-job-catalyst-survey-1.5303156\">https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/business\/60-per-cent-of-indigenous-workers-feel-emotionally-unsafe-on-the-job-catalyst-survey-1.5303156<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Nazi deaths camps &amp; Canada\u2019s\nResidential Schools \u2013 Both historical events classified as a genocide.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nNazis designed their concentration and extermination camps to destroy what they\nbelieved were racially inferior people \u2013 Africans, Jewish people, Gypsies and\nother minorities<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dhseagles.kpdsb.on.ca\/about\/veterans\/WorldWar2\/concentration-residential.html\">http:\/\/dhseagles.kpdsb.on.ca\/about\/veterans\/WorldWar2\/concentration-residential.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\npurpose of Canada\u2019s Residential Schools was to obliterate the language,\nreligion and culture of the Indigenous people of Canada \u2013 to take the Indian\nout of the Indian. The indigenous children were forcibly separated from\nfamilies. They were sexually abused in unimaginable ways by nuns and priests\nwho handled them. These nuns &amp; priests ate bacon &amp; eggs while the\nchildren had to kill birds to satisfy their hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confederate\nCanada were not bothered to give rights to the Natives in 1865 though they held\nself-governing resource-rich lands. Colonial Confederate Canada viewed \u2018race\u2019\nonly in terms of English, French, Spanish, Irish \u2013 white skin saviours \u2013 all\nothers were \u2018subhuman savages\u2019! The Indian Act was passed in 1876 to mould the\nIndian into a European. It is laughable that the same nations that drew such\ncivilizational acts\u201d at the same time preach \u2018multiculturalism\u2019. The 1876 Act\ndefined who was not considered an \u2018Indian\u2019 and declared that the Indians could\nonly gain \u2018admission\u2019 to the system was only if they voluntarily gave up being\nIndian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.shenaliwaduge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Screen-Shot-2021-07-12-at-5.03.33-PM-1024x777.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>This is the man who sought\njudicial approval to remove Indian\u201d children from their families for\n\u2018education\u2019&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peter\nHenderson Bryce, President of the American Public Health Association was\nrecruited by Canada in 1904 to survey the residential schools. His report\nrevealed that children in these schools were dying at the rate of 24% per year\n&amp; rose to 42% over 3 years. In 1 school 76% of the children had died. Bryce\nhad to pay a price with his career for these revelations. He personally printed\nhis report &amp; handed to members of Parliament &amp; others \u2013 they didn\u2019t\nlisten and Bryce drowned to death in 1932. Other whistleblowers were either\npersecuted or dismissed. Funds were purposely denied for the welfare of\nindigenous children by the federal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/chronicle\/article\/discrimination-aboriginals-native-lands-canada\">https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/chronicle\/article\/discrimination-aboriginals-native-lands-canada<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How dare the State of Canada\noffer \u2018reconciliation\u2019 when they are the perpetrators. It is the victims (the\nIndigenous owners of the land called Canada) that must agree to forgive only\nafter satisfactory remedial actions have been taken by the Canadian government.\nReconciliation cannot be just fancy terms &amp; negotiating how to remain\n\u2018inferior\u2019 rather than admit to stealing resources of the indigenous lands to\ncreate Canada\u2019s economy. Yet, Canada does not wish to place the indigenous of\npar &amp; as equals. Why? If Canada has welcomed other races as immigrants &amp;\nare treating them as equals,&nbsp; why not the indigenous of Canada?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>In 1969 Pierre Trudeau came up\nwith 3 proposals \u2013 Abolish the Indian Act \/ Transfer responsibility for Indians\nto the provinces \/ Close Federal Dept of Indian Affairs. The proposals were\ndrafted without inputs of a single indigenous persons and the government\nwithdrew it as a result of objections. In 1990 the Royal Commission on\nAboriginal Peoples was launched resulting in 440 recommendations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>It\u2019sbeen 13 years since&nbsp;PM\nStephen Harper apologizhed in 2008 for the harms done by Canada to indigenous\nchildren in the residential schools. It was in 2016 that the Canadian Human\nRights Tribunal declared that Canada had racially discriminated 163,000 First\nNation children.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So\nlong as the mentality of terra nullius remains engraved in the mindsets of\nthose dictating how Canada is governed the indigenous will remain \u2018aliens\u2019 on\ntheir own soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While\nCanadian motto is Peace, Order, and Good Government\u201d &amp; while countless\n\u2018Reconciliation\u2019 programs like Idle No More movement (2012-present), the Truth\nand Reconciliation Commission (2008-2015), and the National Inquiry into\nMissing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (2016- present), there is no\nchange to the manner Canada treats the people who were first living in Canada\nbefore the white settlers &amp; immigrants arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shenali D Waduge<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shenali D Waduge Canada should be ashamed for several reasons.
