There was\nnot an iota of thought in any western country in 1939 to give freedom to people\nin European colonies. The possibility of what happened to the native Americans,\nAustralian Aboriginies, people of Hawaii, Maoris of New Zealand, Kandyan\nSinhalese peasantry of Sri Lanka whose lands were grabbed under enclosure\npolicies and converted into coffee and tea plantations by British settlers\nkilling over 10, 000 wild elephants in the process&nbsp; to clear the hill\ncountry for tea plantations is a poignant story.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Except for Japan in Asia, no other country outside Europe\nhad the vision and resolve to stop the idea of &#8216; Manifest Destiny&#8217; from\nbecoming a reality. What happened to native American Indians and Canadian\nnative Indians has been explained away on the basis of &#8216; Manifest Destiny&#8217;.\nJapan and people of Asia who supported Japan to liberate Asia did not subscribe\nto &#8216; Manifest Destiny&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senaka Weeraratna If Japan did not enter the second world war in 1941 the whole of Asia would have have come under Western colonial domination.
