{"id":118343,"date":"2021-09-20T15:51:29","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T22:51:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/?p=118343"},"modified":"2021-09-20T15:51:29","modified_gmt":"2021-09-20T22:51:29","slug":"slpp-requested-to-revoke-party-membership-of-lohan-ratwatte","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lankaweb.com\/news\/items\/2021\/09\/20\/slpp-requested-to-revoke-party-membership-of-lohan-ratwatte\/","title":{"rendered":"SLPP requested to revoke party membership of Lohan Ratwatte"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><em>Courtesy Adaderana<\/em><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p>The March 12 Movement calls on the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to suspend State Minister Lohan Ratwatte\u2019s party membership and review his anti-disciplinary activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Convener of the March 12 movement Rohana Hettiarachchi points out that there is no public confidence in the investigation being conducted by a Commissioner of the Prisons Department who is a party to the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He says that the incredible silence of the leaders of political parties was a powerful factor in creating such an ugly and dirty political culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If there is a person who acts in a way that brings disgrace to Sri Lanka even in the international arena, the Heads of State and the party leadership should take appropriate action against that person, Hettiarachchi added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further, Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Kavinda Jayawardena says that there are reports that prison officials are being pressured into giving evidence contrary to what actually took place during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the Commissioner-General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya visited the Anuradhapura Prison yesterday (September 19) and met the officers who were on duty at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Commissioner-General inquired into the allegations that State Minister Lohan Ratwatte had entered the Anuradhapura Prison and behaved in a riotous manner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy Adaderana The March 12 Movement calls on the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) to suspend State Minister Lohan Ratwatte\u2019s party membership and review his anti-disciplinary activities.
