The US company also secured the rights to develop an LNG receiving, storage and regasification terminal off the coast of the capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The terminal could be in service as early as 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a significant milestone for Sri Lanka\u2019s transition to cleaner fuels and more reliable, affordable power,\u201d CEO Wes Edens said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A memorandum of understanding was reached&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naturalgasworld.com\/new-fortress-energy-inks-mou-on-gas-power-in-sri-lanka-90264\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in July<\/a>&nbsp;between New Energy and Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BY:\u00a0DANIEL GRAEBER Courtesy NaturalGas World US-based New Fortress Energy said September 21 it had finalised an agreement with the government of Sri Lanka to build an offshore regasification facility for LNG imports.
