Bangladesh got\nits great independence from Pakistan in 1971 through a bloody hardcore\nstruggle. Pakistan had been exploiting Bangladesh systematically. Pakistan\u2019s\neconomy was built on the money of Bangladesh. However, the country under the\ncharismatic leadership of its great founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur\nRahman got its ultimatum identity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bangladesh\ninherited a shattered economy and a completely broken infrastructure. It was\ndescribed as a hopeless economic disaster by many economic experts and world\nleaders such as Henry Kissinger who called it a Bottomless Basket\u201d in 1974.\nNobody believed that it could survive economically as an independent country.\nToday the world is both surprised and delighted to see the phoenix rising from\nthe ashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the path was\nnot so easy. A war-ravaged country saw a reality. The country had to move\nthrough economic struggle. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tried his level\nbest to make Bangladesh as his promised \u2018Golden Bengal\u2019. But miscreants didn\u2019t\nlike that. They understood only their personal interest instead of greater\nnational interest. So, it was not possible to made great \u2018Golden Bengal\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The people of\nBangladesh were sufferer in the long run. Bangladesh saw political ups and\ndowns time to time. But Bangladesh is now growing and rising. Its Premier\nSheikh Hasina is trying to make Bangladesh as her father\u2019s promised Golden\nBengal\u2019. I will give credit not only to its premier Sheikh Hasina but also the\nmass people of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh are working hard in the\ncountry and abroad. Of course, PM Sheikh Hasina has a great contribution\nbecause without an able dynamic and prudent leadership, it was not possible.\nThe path was not smooth. PM Sheikh Hasina had to struggle to make Bangladesh as\na rising super star. She is till now struggling to make Bangladesh a prosperous\nand developed within 2041. It is really true that Bangladesh is going to South\nAsian Economic miracle. Many countries and international organizations in the\nworld are appreciating the economic rise of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even, Pakistan\u2019s\njournalists are praising the economic growth of Bangladesh. Pakistan\u2019s various\nmedia outlets are praising Bangladesh in their written reports, editorials,\nopinions. I will focus this issue in my write up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan\u2019s one of the leading\ndaily Express Tribune\u2019 has published an article on October 05, 2021 titled The Meteoric Rise of Bangladesh\u2019<\/a> The\narticle writes \u2018Bangladesh has shown unexpected and very impressive economic development.\nThe GDP growth rate surpassed Pakistan\u2019s in 2006 and since then it has\noutperformed Pakistan every year and, to the surprise of leading economists, is\ntoday one of the world\u2019s fastest growing economies. The GDP per capita of\nBangladesh is close to India and exceeds that of Pakistan.\u2019 Tribune Express is\npraising Bangladesh. It is one of the achievements for Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Pakistani economist, former adviser to the World Bank\nwrote an article in another Pakistan famous daily \u2018The News International\u2019\ntitled \u2018Aid from Bangladesh\u2019.<\/a> on May 24, 2021. In\nhis article he said that Pakistan may seek financial assistance from Bangladesh\nin 2030. It is our success as Bangladeshi. A Pakistani economist is praising\nthe economic growth of Bangladesh in the country\u2019s topmost circulated Jang\nGroups\u2019 daily newspaper. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Noted Pakistani journalist Zaigham Khan,<\/a> while taking part in a telecast talk-show styled\n\u2018Awaam\u2019 on Capital TV on September, 2018, advised the Prime Minister of\nPakistan to follow the development model of Bangladesh to ensure Pakistan\u2019s\nprogress and development. He requested PM Imran through the talk show to make\nPakistan like Bangladesh instead of Sweden. It is pertinent to mention that PM\nkhan promised that he would turn Pakistan into a developed country like Sweden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A professor of University of\nKarachi, Moonis Ahmar<\/a> wrote in his article titled How and why is Bangladesh better off than Pakistan\ntoday?<\/a> in \u2018Express Tribune\u201d on March 21, 2021 that four factors that\ncontributed to transforming Bangladesh from an international beggar\u201d to an\neconomically vibrant country\u201d are: leadership, innovation, planning, and\nownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even, the\nPakistan Today, the Pak Observer, the Frontier Post (Pakistan major English\ndailies) published articles lauding the economic growth of Bangladesh. They\nused the sentence that the country\u2019s economy is booming under the leader ship\nof its premier Sheikh Hasina. Pakistan observer wrote the sentence in an\narticle that Bangladesh is\ngoing to next South Asian Economic superstar.<\/a> Pakistan Today wrote a\nsentence in its article that  Bangladesh has made a tremendous effort to\nboost its economy in the past few years.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

An article\npublished in Pakistan’s Christian Post on September 26, 2021 titled “South\nAsia including Pakistan can follow the \u2018Economic Rise of Bangladesh Model\u2019<\/a>\nalso says that Pakistan must follow Bangladesh’s “Economic Rise\nModel” to recover its economy from huge inflation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan\u2019s Daily\nParliament Times published an article titled South Asia\nincluding Pakistan can follow the Bangladesh\u2019s \u2018Economic Rise Model\u2019<\/a>\non September 25, 2021. The writer says in the article if Bangladesh can pay 250\nmillion US dollars to Sri Lanka, waive the IMF\u2019s Bangladeshi share of money\nfrom Somalia and Sudan, help Indonesia with Covid-19 medical equipment, shelter\na large number of Rohingya refugees from Myanmar, Bangladesh deserves the honor\nto help Pakistan financially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan\u2019s another popular\nlocal media \u2018Daily Soon Times\u2019 published a write up \u2018Pakistan can follow the \u2018Economic Rise of Bangladesh\nModel\u2019<\/a> on September 26, 2021. Very interesting point is that Soon\nTimes has urged Pakistan to follow Bangladesh\u2019s Economic Rise Model directly in\nits article. What a prestige for Bangladesh. Pakistani media say its government\ndirectly to follow Bangladesh. But it is a matter of sorrow that Bangladesh was\nthe exploited colony of Pakistan. Pakistan exploited Bangladesh (then East\nPakistan) hugely. But this exploited and bottom less Bangladesh is going to\nAsian Economic miracle today. Express Tribune also said in the first mentioned\narticle that Bangladesh takes the position of economic bubble of Japan, South\nKorea, Taiwan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bangladesh is\nnow ahead of Pakistan in many indexes. It is a matter of surprise truly that\nPakistan is now praising Bangladesh. Although the age of Bangladesh is just 50\nthat that of Pakistan\u2019s 74. If Pakistan didn\u2019t exploit Bangladesh economically\nfor 24 years, it would have gone ahead of more far.
